But isnt that what we wanted them to do instead of banking on college production?

We want what we don't get... and then when we get it... we aren't sure we wanted it.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

This entire board was full last night of basically everyone ripping the pick to shreds, so those are the people you’re referring to. The posts are all still in this thread if you want to go back and look at them. That isn’t the "wip crowd” it’s the majority of this forum.

And every single one of the people who disliked it gave insightful, rational, and intelligent reasons as to why.

if you can’t handle cynical opinions that says more about you than it does the people who have them.

The issue isn't that you dislike the Hurts pick. People are tired of your schtick because when someone expresses the fact that they like it, or even just tries to explain the rationale for it, you have a hissy fit. And then, to make matters worse, in order to defend your hissy fit, you claim that everyone agrees with you.

I’m bummed we don’t have any Fran breakdowns on the main site.

Will likely take longer, but they should be up next week.

I am just happy to finally see some linebackers after 3 offseasons of neglect. It looks like a Jenkins replacement as well...

I want them now!

I'm glad we got them both.  Howie said he didn't expect to draft both of them which makes sense...both are similar receivers.  I've been super high on Watkins and I like Hightower.  The high value trades afforded us the luxury of taking a closer look at both of these guys.  What's not to love about that scenario?

I was hoping that they’d draft Watkins after hightower and just let them battle it out for the last WR roster spot. I didn’t think they’d do that but then it happened. Clearly the eagles found the new board and are reading it lol

Indeed.  Either Taylor or Wallace can fill that role.  Most likely will be a combination of both, imo.

Some (read me) suffer from temporary insanity... others are far less hopeless.  Stick around and you'll see who they are.

must admit I was bummed beginning of round 4 this morning.  Day 3 was good (volume and value) so that offset some of the angst from yesterday. But I believe we have a better coaching staff and culture than the cowgirls, and a better overall set of team leaders.  That matters.  I am genuinely looking forward to what Howie does rest of the offseason, and what Doug and Schwartz can do.  I dont think the cowboys offense will be as great as the hype is, Zeke hasnt been the same since he signed the extension.  he is the key.

Lol "my crap” the Eagles got absolutely torn to shreds last night by almost everyone in the local media and on this board, but yeah, it’s "my crap”

you grow up, dude. If you can’t handle one person’s take on it, then that’s your problem. I don’t like what they did in the draft. That’s my right to feel that way. Good for you if you like the hurts pick. You’re in the minority.

You obviously don’t read other’s posts.  I gave my thoughts on the Hurts pick both as to the analytics behind the choice as well as how I viewed Hurts as a prospect close to 12 hours ago. Feel free to go back and read it.  For you, we get to hear over and over again how you feel without an ounce of analysis behind it.  That’s not a take, that’s whining. Frankly, I would welcome back Doug704 over you.

I definitely went nuts last night at that pick.  I still can't stand it.  Potential 1st round talent was sitting there for us.  But for as pissed as I was last night, I'm gonna give credit today for their plan.  Howie knew they were the slowest team ever and he addressed the issue head on.  Including Desean, they literally have 5 burners now.  I know they won't all work out, but I'd rather Howie trade back and hedge his bets than put all his eggs in 1 basket.  1 of these guys at the least will end up being a great fit here.

Not to mention stealing K'Von Wallace in the 4th and Prince Fartknocker in the 6th.  That's exactly who you go after late - someone with a 3rd round draft grade.  I hope to look back on today as a huge win for this franchise.  Just trying to put a positive spin on this weekend.

**Although our division rivals killed it this weekend.  It seemed like every pick between the Cowpukes, Foreskins, and Ginas was someone everyone in here targeted for the Eagles.

I just cant be sold on this notion that Hurts will even be the #2 next year.

Suds says this is his last year. Great!

Let him find any team in the NFL that will give him a chance to start and he'll find zero. You could then bring him back.

Even if that isn't the case, and Suds is completely gone, I will bet money they bring in another Vet to backup Wentz.

It's pretty hard to think we're going to be challenging for a SB this year with so many new pieces and faces, so next year, do we really think Hurts will be able to come in and win a few games as a backup if Wentz goes down? I highly doubt it and our window next year will be much bigger IMO.

I don't buy the Taysom Hill stuff as they are totally different builds. I can see them doing some gimmick stuff but that will be what 20 times a season at the very most?

Suds has been here for how many years and they didn't even trust him over McCown even though being here in the system longer?

That's why this whole "QB factory" nonsense was so infuriating. If that were anywhere near true for this regime Suds would have more trust and be more valuable than he is. AND after cutting Thorson last year. QB developing factory my arse.

I hope Hurts pans out, but he is a bit of a project. It why using the 2nd pick was so baffling.

It would be nice to be a QB factory but they haven't proven much in being able to do that.

I think wallace is more likely to contribute right away as Taylor is going to need more time. I think the transition for him as he’s more raw is going to a little more bumpy especially with no camps this year. I think you hope year two to maximize it. But it might not be until really year three he reaches his ceiling.

That’s nonsense. Just trade every second round pick for proven players then. You don’t because it’s a 50 percent chance to get a good player at a cost controlled contract for four years. It matters. Greatly.

Over the last few years... Eagles would have been better off trading their 2nd round picks...

Sydney Jones, JJAW, Eric Rowe, Jordan Matthews, Jaiquawn Jarrett, Nate Allen

Of course, there's also:  Dallas Goedert, Zach Ertz, Miles Sanders

And then there's the... ok picks... Mychal Kendricks and Vinny Curry

Yeah... about 50% of the time, they pretty much suck, about 25% decent hits and 25% great players.

Something for the Eagles to consider...

We really had no swing tackle on the roster either. I don’t count Mailata yet.

Mailata is one I am most looking forward to seeing this pre-season (when it happens).  If he is decent/good this year, we are set at tackle.

Its been stinking for a while...

I dont think the skins or giants did anything special. Chase young will be a pain in out a**, sure but that pick took no brains

It’s now currently lost in the sea of madness. I generally enjoy your insight. So if you have a chance can you pm it?! That’s a lot of wading to do haha.

@eagle45 Outside of the Hurts pick, I'm assuming you're thrilled with this draft just based off of the offensive skill players they added. No more 4.5/4.6 clunkers hogging up the middle of the field running the same routes.

I analyzed it a billion different ways last night as to why I didn’t like the pick and the implications as to why I thought it was negative for the team and a bad move by the Eagles. Feel free to go back and read it.

The bottom line is you is you can’t handle cynicism and you’re acting very childish about it.

Eagles must be high on Mailata.  If the rumors are true that they are concerned about Dillard, the only way they would let Peters walk is if they were "high" on Mailata.   Am I off on this?

Watching Michael Warren, he looks like the kind of RB who cuts 7-8 pounds and picks up some extra burst or a second gear that they didn’t have. He reminded me of CJ Anderson, both good and bad.

i put the people worrying about chase young in the same boat as people who worried about barkley.  yeah, they'll get their numbers...  but i think the birds are still the ones in the division to beat.

You’re the one having a hissy fit. It’s a discussion board, it’s called debate. You guys are the ones making all personal by bringing "my crap” into it and talking about whining and crybabies and hissyfits.

All I did was disagree. Look yourself in the mirror my man and take some of your own advice.

This is a huge year for him.  He's had time to adjust and learn.  Now he needs to show that he is more than a ball of clay.  He needs to show some development.  But if he does, we are suddenly looking pretty good at OT with Jordan, Prince, Andre and Lane.
