Natalie Wastenolf.  She is absolutely useless when it comes to sports talk.  She needs to find another profession.

What an idiot.  I want a Super Bowl period.  I could care less who,is quarterbacking.   Guess she hated the Foles almost in NO, Garcia and Feeley excitement.  Heck I was still excited with McCown and how close he got us to a game in the playoffs last year with Carson and DJax back.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

The more I hear this the more that makes sense.  The Falcons had every inch of leverage against the Eagles.  They probably asked for 21, 53 and a 2nd next year or something of the sort.  The Falcons had a great player at a need position fall in to their laps.  If the Eagles wanted to move up they should have done so ahead of the Falcons.

Water under the bridge, I'll say it til I'm blue in the face I hate that Dallas got CeeDee.  Hated seeing smug Jerry Jones smiling on his $250 million yacht (nice of them to tell us the value of his yacht while so many Americans are in dire situations btw).

Reagor will be a good Eagle and that's what matters.

That wasn't an option either.  Look at it... they were ALL in that position.

#15 - Denver wanted a WR, they weren't going to move back to 21 without a king's ransom either.
#14 - SF was all-in on Kinlaw.  No chance they move back that far with him sitting there.
#13 - Tampa paid to move up ONE spot to get their OT, they weren't moving back with their OT there.
#12 - Raiders wanted a WR (and they got their pick of them)

So... any trade up REALLY needed to be to #11, but there was an OT sitting there for the Jets too... the reality is, the only way a trade up was happening was if they were going to VASTLY overpay for it.

Let Jerry be smug.  How many playoff wins do they have in the past 24 years?   2, I think.   They are completely irrelevant.  They are the Detroit Lions, in reality... but no one in the media has figured it out yet.

I doubt that. Makes no sense to move either for three years. This is the model Belichek started with Garoppolo. Suspect that was his plan this year with Hurts to back up Stidham. I really think the Eagles may have screwed the Pats with the Hurts pick. Belichek either wanted Herbert and couldn’t get up to get him or Hurt coming to him in the second based on his comment that a QB was in the plan.  I like to think we got a quality back up for at least three years and robbed the Pats in the process. Eases my discomfort with Hurts, the player.

Patriots passed on him in the second and took Dugger, then traded back up into the 2nd after Hurts was selected. I suppose they could have planned on coming back into the second to take him, but ultimately passed when they had the chance.

How much did they want Lamb?  Speed isn’t his game.

I got a notification about this saying he hopes Carson plays to his 40s. I have no sympathy for Howie and the Eagles. They opened up this can of worms by drafting the backup QB in the 2nd round. We just got over the Foles vs Wentz drama. Plus we still have to deal with Alshon's drama

There is no can of worms.  Carson Wentz has never been pulled from a game for performance; it's not how Pederson coaches.  Never pulled for Daniel, Foles, McCown or anyone else.

I believe Pederson will have a small package of plays designed for Hurts -- 2 or 3 per game.  A short-yardage run, a bootleg run to break down contain -- maybe an option to throw off of it.  The point is, it will force the opposition to game plan for it -- especially if Hurts moves the chains or provides a spark.  That doesn't open any can of worms or create controversy.

Pundits like Bayless, Stephen A, Nick Wright who work for ESPN and FS1 -- they will try to stir up drama and controversy, because they have a financial interest in doing so.  The fringe fans who make up their viewership will buy into it and be entertained.

You are ignoring the temporal issue. Not to pick on you more than anyone else, but we fans have very short attention spans. We want gratification now. Will Hurts start immediately? Obviously not. But in the next four years will we need a competent QB other than Wentz? Almost certainly. That's the trade-off that Howie is considering and you are not.

I am certainly considering it but equivocal insurance can be obtained with far less valuable resources like a later pick or in free agency

For those of you in the south Jersey, Philly area.  Starting at 1:45 around Trenton down through Philly around 2:15 today step outside and look up.  The Blue Angels are going to do a show in support of frontline workers.  Google Blue Angels Philadelphia flight plan for the path.

Actually she was a Foles lovers which makes her statement even worse.  Doesn't know squat about sports.  When Mike and Tyrone say something, she just agrees or says "that's what I was going to say."  Once in a while she will add a vague general statement that could apply without knowing anything about the discussion.  All she does is check social media and tell us how their polls are going.  She is good for that, checking her makeup or face in the camera and laughing with her mouth open.  And I am not being sexist, there are a lot of good female sports people in the world.  She is not one of them.  Until about a few months ago, she was ragged on for a couple years because she "watched" sports on her 22 in tv.  You could not even see anything on it from the distance she was viewing it at.

I always enjoyed Tra on the radio.   He just got let go though.  Hopefully he lands somewhere.  Actually a good amount of the former players are decent on the radio.

I enjoy listening to Westbrook when he comes on from time to time on Mike's show.

Spadaro basically alluded to that when he called in WIP during the draft.  Used the words, "That's a bunch of crap"...when asked about the Eagles trading up for Lamb.  He was pretty fired up and said, "Who said that?"  Did the Eagles say that?"  In reference to the Eagles wanting Lamb.  Basically saying the Eagles weren't targeting Lamb.

I dont really like this kind of attitude. That said, when you go out of your way to perpetuate the stereotype you do it to yourself. She is god awful and deserves all the crap she is getting and to not be taken seriously. Well said sir.

One frustrating aspect of the Hurts pick is that we likely won’t get much value out of him on 2020 unless we go the Taysom Hill route. With a weird offseason, I don’t think it’s realistic for him to be the backup.

So the most realistic scenario is him being the backup in 2021. If he’s the true backup, can he still do the special package stuff? If so, is the risk for injury so high that we’d have to carry a third QB on the 53 (55?)?

So let’s say he becomes the backup in 2021, that gives us three cheap years of backup QB play, assuming he actually develops. Doesn’t sound that bad. Maybe he balls out and we trade him. Maybe we get a comp 3.

Now the downside. Let’s say with such a weird offseason he just doesn’t show well in 2020. Do we go after another backup QB? Do we re-sign Sudfeld?

I think people are taking for granted that Hurts will be the backup in 2021. He has to earn it, and it’s the hardest position in the NFL to develop.

Sports radio takes, everyone

I don't know how some people listen to this every day

That’s just stupid. I’m not fond of picking Hurts where we did and I’m a huge Wentz fan, but if Wentz gets hurt again, (knock on wood it doesn’t happen), and Hurts repeats what Foles did and we get another ring, so be it.

Hurts has 42 college starts, playing for Alabama/Oklahoma. By 2021, he's definitely going to be the backup.

Yup. Imagine not wanting to win a Super Bowl. That’s also such a slap in the face to every player/coach on the team.

Sounds like RTK.

Another Howie quote from WIP interview.

"What helps the team the most at this moment? Probably a different player at a different position because we have a great player there, but my job is different. When we make these kind of decisions I talk to people that I really trust and that I've always relied on that have won world championships and I say, 'This is my thought process. I've gotta do everything I can to make sure Carson Wentz is standing on that podium holding that trophy.' And it's funny when I say that, I see it man. I see it. I see him doing that. And I really believe that that's gonna happen.

I think this is the textbook example of over-thinking the draft.  Of course Dallas is getting high praise for drafting CeeDee Lamb but the reality is that a team can regularly use 3 receivers.  In terms of contributing the pick makes sense.  Hurts likely only contributes if Wentz is hurt.

I still think Dallas took a step back from last season, and we’ve improved   🤷‍♂️

I lived outside Oceana Naval Air Base for a few years in the mid 80's.  They would do a show once a year and we would climb up on the roof to watch.  Hoping they make their way down to NC.  But my guess would be Charlotte not RDU.

Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro usually has a decent air show.  Cherry Point also has one but that's a bit of a hike.

Thanks BigE.  Seems they are circumnavigating my area and won't be visible at all, not even on the horizon.

They absolutely did. Everyone can praise them for the draft as much as they want but their choices still need to pan out. The one drafted that theoretically will make the biggest impact doesn’t really improve the team in the short term. I’m also not sold on Diggs.

As far as us improving, hard to say. I’d say as of now it’s about the same team.

And... that seems to happen frequently.  It almost seems like people are just wish-casting that he won't get hurt again in the next 4 years.  If/When he does, then we will find out the true value of the pick.

(And soon, I'll be cast as someone that hates Wentz... 🙄  )

Baldinger was just on WIP and destroyed the Eagles draft.

-Said Reagor was a huge reach. If the Eagles thought Jefferson was a slot guy they dont know what they're doing.  Says he "tore up"  the SEC on the outside in 2018. Should have also taken Murray over Reagor. Called Reagor a gadget guy with questionable hands and poor production.

-Likes Hurts a lot, had him as a top 50 pick. Bad pick for the Eagles though. Should have taken JK Dobbins.

-Davion Taylor is fast but it doesnt matter if you arent a football player.

-Kvon Wallace was their best pick and will contribute the most as a rookie.

- Eagles fell in love with analytics in this draft. They drafted fast guys and athletes, not football players though.
