Baldinger was just on WIP and destroyed the Eagles draft.

-Said Reagor was a huge reach. If the Eagles thought Jefferson was a slot guy they dont know what they're doing.  Says he "tore up"  the SEC on the outside in 2018. Should have also taken Murray over Reagor. Called Reagor a gadget guy with questionable hands and poor production.

-Likes Hurts a lot, had him as a top 50 pick. Bad pick for the Eagles though. Should have taken JK Dobbins.

-Davion Taylor is fast but it doesnt matter if you arent a football player.

-Kvon Wallace was their best pick and will contribute the most as a rookie.

- Eagles fell in love with analytics in this draft. They drafted fast guys and athletes, not football players though.

Yeah I heard it, he took it to this draft pretty hard

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Reagor will be the first player in the first two rounds since Chip left that would reasonably be expected, at the time of the draft, to start week 1.

Carson - backup to Sleeves
Barnett - rotational DE
Jones - red shirt
Goedert - #2 TE
Dillard - backup
Sanders - RBBC

Baldinger was a substandard lineman so what the heck does he know?

He figures "give the people want they want" and obviously they want Misery.

Not even the good one with Cathy Bates.

Hey, if it happens during a game in which Hurts begins his role as a human victory cigar, I'm all for it.

it was auto-correct... her middle name is Jaynelen

I love what we did at a fundamental, team/group level. Has any team in the NFL gotten faster than the Eagles? Top to bottom, we have become incredibly fast after being pathetically slow.

That said, I do think we need to be realistic about the overall improvement at the position and it’s translation onto the field. Reagor is really the only high probability impact player. Goodwin, Hightower, and Quez are all low probability acquisitions. We made three of them in the hopes of hitting on one or two good role players. I like the odds of finding a good deep threat from that group, but it’s tough to expect anything more than a 3rd or 4th WR.

C- seems a bit harsh, I’d say C+/B-. We needed to get much younger, much faster and much deeper at the position. We did that. But we didn’t add multiple blue chip talents, which prevents a higher grade.

I agree, but we aren't markedly faster until these guys earn roles in the offense.  Sure, it would be a shock if Reagor did not, but you never know with rookies.

I don't think this will happen...it better not....but there is a chance that Watkins is released before the season, Goodwin is released when Alshon gets healthy, Hightower is inactive all year, Desean gets banged up, and we are mostly looking at Alshon/Ward/JJAW/Reagor.  Suddenly this offense is pretty slow again.

I want to see these burners make the team, get coached up, and play.

Really good article.

If they are changing up the offense it makes a ton more sense at least.

Insert Killins at RB and split Sanders out wide. "If yous ain't fast, you last." -Howard Roseman

Flash forward to the first MNF game of the season.

Carson is regularly throwing down field to Jackson and Reagor.  Ertz and Goedert are feeding on social-distancing-like coverage over the middle.  Sanders is tearing it up behind one of the best lines in football.  And we've just gone up by 20 after a pick-six by Slay.

What will we get?  A five minute conversation about the Hurts pick.

Only because the Eagles insert him into the lineup as initially a RB but before the snap moves out to the slot, goes in motion before the snap and he gets the ball on a lateral and Immediately  throws to Mailata, who lined up as our TE in our six OL lineup, Mailata trucks an opposing LB at the two and takes it in for a TD.  Then one of the visiting TATErs we inevitably have on game day suggest we should be starting Hurts over Carson.   It is followed by a five minute conversation about whether Mailata should be starting over Ertz.  Greend adds twelve posters to hIs ignore list shortly thereafter.

I think we have the tools to have a fast offense if we integrate everyone properly.

I don't know that Sanders is going to help us much out wide though.  Those wheel routes that he and Wentz connected were not a result of WR quality routes or speed; he was mostly peeling open under the radar of the defense.

Sanders is more Lesean Mccoy than Brian Westbrook.  I think he's going to be great, but he's still best used within the confines or a typical RB role.

But I wanna see Hurts, Wentz, Ward, and Tate all on the field to do some Harlem Globetrotters pigskin 💩!

Camp body last year here.  Waived with injury settlement and picked up,by Lions for their PS.   Needed another tackle for the Eagles third OL for TC.  That may require a waiver after Howie signs the draft choices.

Yeah, the last play - 93 yards and 15 lateral passes. For the history books.

so was it good or bad? 3 starters and a depth guy.

I'm not commenting on the 2017 draft for better or worse, but I really do not like evaluating a draft by that criteria.

The last several drafts, FA acquisitions, and trades produced 22 starters for the KC Chiefs in 2019.

The last several drafts, FA acquisitions, and trades produced 22 starters for the Bengals in 2019.

5 starters doesn't make a draft spectacular if your team is tanking en route to 0-16 and they are all terrible.  It's about competitive advantage.  Getting a DE like Barnett in the top 15 gives your team 0 competitive advantage.  Do you sink back to the pack because you wasted the pick?  No.  You could do worse.  But you could also do the same with a lot less investment.

Throw Suds out there at TE for good measure.

I see one guy we can reasonably expect to be a contributor beyond 2020. I thought two was the minimum going into FA.

I think that between Goodwin, Hightower and Quez we have a combined 50/50 chance of a medium term contributor (3 years). Not a starter, necessarily, but a legitimate contributor.

Come back next year when Alshon and likely Jackson are gone with a premium pick at WR, and I think we’ll be OK.

The team has been pretty transparent about getting faster. I think they will give the speed players every opportunity to stick around.

Find it curious that teams and the NFL hasn’t said anything about canceling rookie camps, usually the first or second week of May, or OTAs, which are usually scheduled the third week of May.  Still in remote Phase I, workouts, strength and conditioning for the first two weeks followed by more of that with like 90 minutes on the field and some classroom time. Phase I started 4/20 per NFL.  Per Spads, Eagles opened theirs on Monday with a virtual team meeting. Both the NFL and NFLPA still have those dates for camps on their websites.  Given the limited opening of states, I could see a plan coming out for camps shortly maybe with some delay in dates.

Teams that held off until next year for drafting a QB,will be rewarded.  There will be more then a handful.

My personal favorites

Trey lance

Brock purdy

Jamie Newman

Imo all first rd picks, all big arms and athletic.

That isn't counting Lawrence or Fields, and 3 or 4 more.

Huge huge fan of Keton Slovis but , he is not eligible.

A few somewhat interesting potential  post-draft trade candidates

I’d like Mack if he did get released. He, Scott and sanders would be a hell of a trio. However i think he’d go somewhere that’ll give him a bigger role then here.

curious to see if perryman or Williamson they are interested in. I don’t recall either being great as coverage linebackers so I’m guessing not.

i feel like josh Rosen is such damaged goods but i could see some team trying to take a chance with him as it’ll cost little
