Yes, yet you think adding a rookie in the 1st, a oft injured vet given away for a hamburger, and 2 5 Rd picks is giving him as good a shot as any other QB.

Amazing.

I don't recall saying it gives him as good a shot as any other QB. I said it gives him plenty enough weapons to work with. Stop putting words in my mouth dunce. You also just keep glossing over the fact that Desean played in one game last year for all intents and purposes so he is essentially an addition as well.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

You said he has to win.

Sure, he can be considered an addition, but will probably miss time because he always does.

So, he we have the Crux of the matter again.

Wentz hasn't thrown a deep ball in 2 years, yet we know that is his biggest strength?

Biggest strength? Maybe not.

A strength.  Definitely.

I am very excited for the prospect of Jackson, Reagor, and Goodtowerkins catching deep passes for Carson.

I think people have ignored my post on backup QBs for teams with playoff aspirations.

Of the whole list, the only two to me who could be considered reliable veteran backups were RGIII (if he has anything left) and Foles (who only played well in Philly)

The rest of the list was dreadful for the most part. I mean I'd take Hurts as a raw rookie, just based on making things happen with his legs and arm, over most of the backups in the NFL. Chad Henne anyone?

Yeah, he does need to win. He's being paid like a franchise QB but I guess it's too much to ask him to play like one. Desean is essentially an addition to the team. He's still one of the best deep threats in the league. Jalen Reagor is a first round pick and has legit speed and talent. Even IF they get nothing from Goodwin/Hightower/Watkins/JJAW he just got two big time speed weapons to work with along with TWO stud TE's and one of the best young RB's in the game. If Wentz can't have success with those players than that is on him. Here's a thought, maybe just maybe our 100 million dollar franchise QB could make the players around him better. He did over the last few games last season, so we know he has that ability. Just needs to stay healthy and be more consistent.

Things at the skill positions are neither perfect nor dire.

We have arguably the best pair of TEs in the NFL, an exciting young RB, one of the best deep threats in NFL history, a dynamic speed rookie prospect, an older possession receiver, a young disappointing possession receiver, an older backup deep threat, two rookie deep threats, a PS slot who looked solid acting as the main threat at WR, and a collection of interesting bottom of the depth chart candidates.

This isn’t ideal. It’s also not horrible. The biggest problem we e had the last two years was the entire offense shutting down because we didn’t even have the threat of someone who could beat a defense deep. That problem has been solved about as well as it possibly could be. We now have five — FIVE — guys who can take the top off of a defense.

Ertz and Goedert and JJAW and Alshon and Ward should be fine to handle the shorter and intermediate passes so long as we can still scare teams with some deep speed. Obviously we would all like to have Jerry Rice or Megatron out there, but the eagles had limited resources. I think we did enough to put together a potent offense. I’m frankly more concerned with the defense.

Were you asleep during the Washington game week 1 last year.

That's fair. I just think a 100 million dollar franchise QB should be able to have legit success with weapons that are ''good enough.''

I like him

I think if Ertz, Jackson and Reagor stay healthy he will be very successful. If Goodwin, Goedert and Sanders stay healthy on top of that he could get back to MVP form. That’s a ton of speed and play making ability.

Health as always will be the key.

I guess you missed week 1 last year.

Agreed

Not that it matters, but I always look forward to seeing the new guys’ numbers. I’d be surprised if he was anything other than 18. It’s the best available WR number and he wore it in college.

I agree with you on both points. I know it's kind of silly and ''fanboy'' but I always look forward to what numbers new players choose.

18 has to be it for Reagor. He already said he wants a number in the teens and the only teens numbers available are 13 and 18. Beyond that it's 82 and 87 if Lurie will let them give it out. I love Celek but not handing out his number is kind of ridiculous. Time to start giving out 12 and 25 again too. It amazes me that they have no problem allowing other players to wear 36, but not 87, 12, and 25.

Eagles really need to add a veteran number 2 RB. Lots of options out there who could fill the role on a cheap one year deal. Who ya got.

Devonta Freeman, Carlos Hyde, LeSean McCoy, Lamar Miller, Frank Gore.

At this point, I'm comfortable with Scott. I think they have enough options for a #3 from either Warren, Holyfield or Bellamy. If none of those guys look decent, then you can add a vet.

Too risky. If Sanders gets hurt you have zero depth and Scott isn't the type of guy who can handle 15-20 touches a game.

Lol.  And then he got hurt and missed the rest of the season.  That’s what old washed up players do.  Are you this dense?

How is he washed up if he’s catching multiple bomb TD passes?

Yeah, he got injured. It’s the NFL — that happens. His injury had nothing to do with his legs. It’s not a recurring chronic injury. He’ll be good to go this year.

McCoy can't handle that kind of load anymore.  A younger RB would be more likely to handle that load with less wear and tear. Warren might be decent. If not, you get a back later.  RBs are a dime a dozen and our OL can make average RBs look decent.

He can't, but he can handle splitting the role with Scott if worst comes to worst. There are better options than him anyway with Freeman and Hyde

No one in here was on board with a RB in round 2.

They would have hated it.  Never knowing what would have almost happened would be like 5x worse.

The proponent of drafting a RB in the 1st annually ???

I could have seen JTaylor, DK or Akers for us at 10-15 carries a game, sure the 3rd round would have been better but obviously not happening. Overkill at RB but > overkill at QB at least percentage wise

I'm one of those guys who also gets excited by this. Sure, it might seem silly to some people, but that's just the way I am. And I found myself feeling envious yesterday when I checked out the Colts website (they had great war room footage a year ago and I was curious if they would do anything interesting this year) and saw a cool display of all their draft picks uniforms with their new numbers. Dang, I wish the Eagles could do something like that. But historically they're pretty slow in revealing these things, so I won't be holding my breath.

I'm wondering what number Hurts is going to get. It almost has to be a single digit, and the only good options are 2 and 3. McNabb's number is retired and they aren't going to give out Foles'. But 2 looks like Matt Barkley and 3 looks like Mark Sanchez.
