EMB Blog: Once AGAIN. Politics to CVON!!!!!

I know it was reported that Alshon Jeffrey could be traded, and it is hard to see how that happens with his contract and injury, but the reports are out there.

Is that a real possibility?  Would the acquiring team have a vastly reduced salary obligation, and have the Eagles absorb the cap hit?

Also, what teams are even a potential fit?  I would think a relatively veteran team, or at least a contending team, that could benefit from an established veteran receiver.  Pretty small list.

I see maybe the Packers, perhaps the Ravens, maybe the Colts, ironically maybe the Bears (Foles connection)... hard to see who else is even a remote fit.  It's even more difficult with such a deep receiver draft.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I'm intrigued by WR/RB Antonio Gibson.  More of a build of a running back (6'0" 228 lbs), but ran a blazing 4.39 40 at the combine.  Seems like he could be a nice chess piece to use all over the formation (RB, FB, WR).  Also returns and covers kicks.  Could be great value if we get him in the 4th.

Agreed.  I like this guy, and think he could be a contributor as a running back and special teamer.

Also like the Kentucky QB/WR who also could be a return guy.

Either would be great 4th round picks....

I would think the move would be a dump by the Eagles to free up the cap space... so I expect the Eagles to spend some draft capital to unload that salary and free up $10M on the cap.

Teams with cap space for a Jeffrey's salary (10M) & 10M is factored in for rookie contracts + soft WR Needs

  • Browns
  • Lions
  • Colts
  • Washington
  • Miami
  • Titans

There's just not a long list. Some of those teams could easily draft a WR during the draft. Some are odd culture fits (Lions).
If it's not the Colts or the Browns for something like a 6th, I don't see a team doing it.

There's layers of complexity to everything.   Home cooking is much simpler:  Cook what you like and what the people you cook for like.

I can't discuss the mushroom aspect, as I don't like them... but I will say, vinegar and wine will react differently in a red sauce.  Both release different flavor compounds from the tomatoes.  The answer to the question of cooking with wine (and I don't do a ton) is to keep it simple.  Red needs red.  So, the red sauce should have a decent red wine - not overly cheap stuff, and definitely not the super salty cooking wine out there in grocery stores.  A cabernet sauvignon is a traditional wine for red sauce.  Easily sourced as well.

Good luck.

With mushrooms, you could go a whole lot of different ways Depending on what you want out of your final flavor profile. If just the mushrooms alone, I might recommend either a cognac or even a bourbon.

but let’s say you were doing a chicken with mushrooms or even a mushroom risotto, you can go with a Sauvignon blanc or a dry Riesling and end up very happy.

Only a few more days........ until we don't have to see anymore mock drafts.

Are you kidding?   That's when the 2021 mocks start!

When are we going to make final predictions for 21, 53, and 103?

Read an interesting theory that NFL and NFLPA might alter the supplemental draft eligibility due to Covid-19 concerns and the impact it would have on Seniors who decided to return to school. If their is doubt in a college program starting, some players may feel their stock is at its highest right now. Could be an interesting twist.

Its hard to go wrong making a trade with the Browns.  Generally speaking, if you deal with them, it ends well for you.

The Colts would be the exception to that when they traded for Trent Richardson, but by and large, teams win when trading with the Browns and the Browns were the ones to take on Osweiler.

Maybe its the quarantining making me lose my mind but I'm in the process of talking myself into believing he drops to us at 21.

Texans being the obvious anomaly here. We should have ripped BoB harder for trading a 3rd for Duke Johnson.

The Texans did well for themselves in dumping Osweiler there.  So, even the worst trader in the league does well trading with them!

I had a dream last night the Eagles traded up to 15 and Jeudy and Ruggs were both on the board and the Eagles took Ruggs because of concerns about Jeudy’s knee and Eagles fans were pissed.

They were just lucky to have Rick Smith at the time

As long as it's one of the four (Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs, Jefferson) I won't be mad

I feel like caplan started that thouhht process about two weeks ago where he said he could see it. I just don’t see it. We’ve seen speed guys with more injury concerns than him move up higher than they should’ve.

Possible 4 in Thomas, becton, wirfs and wills. It’s looking like Austin jackson and jones potentially could sneak into the top 20.
