Plaxico Burress ran a 4.60. He had height, caught with his hands and had great body control.

If you have an accurate QB, know how to use your body to gain position and can snatch with strong hands, you don't have to be a speed merchant.

We'll see how JJAW progresses this season.

Burress was like 6’6” and played in a completely different era of football. Not a very good comparison to JJAW in my opinion.

The bigger issue that I have is that size and speed doesn’t have to be an either/or. Every single year there are highly regarded H/W/S prospects. Last year, Metcalf was the obvious example. This year, Claypool is the example.

We don’t need to choose one or the other. We can have both. For the life of me,  I don’t know why the team seems averse to such a player.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

What kind of sick person would make a JJAW rookie season highlight video?

2:30 mark is the catch I’m talking about.

Goedert wants to start.  He's not going to re-sign here if Ertz does.

I’ll die on this hill. Claypool doesn’t play anything like he tested. Metcalf on the other hand...

And then not include his only highlight catch...

It’s at the 25 second mark. It’s OK. This terrible highlight video doesn’t even have the Giants catch for some reason.

My biggest takeaway from that is Wentz is good.  JJAW has talent hidden somewhere.  Can he find it in the NFL?  He was a RZ force at Stanford.

The guy that said he could start for 30 teams in the NFL isn't extending with one of the 2 that he wasn't referring to.

Betting against a WR drafted by the Steelers is a risky move.

While we are on the subject of JJAW, Goodwin has offered to race him for the number 19.

Are we allowed to bet on this? I have a house I will put on the line

Sure, maybe that’s the case. The point is that every year these types of athletes are available. And they’re not just top 10 picks.

The TV angle in this clip makes that catch look almost routine. If you had an endzone view, you would see how unlikely that catch was.

I was thinking about the QB position in general and I wonder if it doesn’t need its own draft scale that’s different from other positions.

what I mean is, based on recent years (say since Russel Wilson) if you want a potential stud franchise QB, you almost have to be picking top 5. Sure, you can get lucky later, but it would be outside the norm.

any QB prospect outside of 5 feels more like  the equivalent of a 4th/5th round position player. Maybe they play a few years as a solid backup and then drift away. Every once in a while you get lucky and find a competent starter.

so then, does that mean value for QBs looks something like this?

franchise QB top 5 pick

legit starter/quality backup rounds 1/2

”flyers” round 3

and everything after is like a 6th/7th round backup crapshoot

Mahomes, Dak, Cousins

If you could put in an absolute scale not a relative one, so you are not basing it on the one yr but based on recent several seasons. Sux to be desperate and just winging it at least in the early rounds. I haven’t been paying attention to other teams ( from afar ), who has a decent 2 QB that we should be envious of ? When will Fitzgerald  ( Fitzpatrick, I suck with names )  be available ? He would work for me. Our history we’ve had several great backups Foles, Garcia, McMahon and Vick. KC, Henne currently their 2 and a world of hurt if PM goes down for any significant time but maybe that is to be expected. The only thing that makes sense ( besides Carson’s next concussion) is DP has something up his sleeve ( or his a** ), I do trust him in this department ... if that is the case. Not sure about the QB factory but maybe being a major branch off the AR tree

The Eagles are your team but not above criticism even by you but when it comes to your country you rather go and turn on FOX and block the thought process like an ostrich. Might as well put me on IGNORE too but I didn’t have to tell you that

To be honest, JJAW looked like an absolute stud in pre-season, had us all salivating over him. Man, what followed was not pretty.

But I guess also could perhaps should give us hope that there is something there? I mean he did look good in preseason so what on earth happened? I mean in the regular season he looked like he didn't know what he was doing never mind winning the physical battles.

Correct. One play before the TD.

I don't even know how to explain it, the guy was flat out dominating in the pre-season. I realize that he was going up against non-top tier guys and vanilla defences, but he was still dominating, which is what good players are suppose to do. Then the regular season hits and he looks like he doesn't even belong in the NFL, had converted AAF QBs beating him out at the WR spot. Something's got to give.
