I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Technically, it seems Lane is about to become the second Eagle ever to work out in front of a crew of reporters in his driveway/lawn/barn.  Should we be worried?  🤣

He was just being truthful about his first experience there. Didn't he say he was in high school? Wasn't that a while ago?

I think he probably found it more funny enlightening than anything that would be damning.

Maybe.  But unfortunately the media, Philly fans and (probably) the Eagles didn’t take it that way.   Just a guess.

Lane is just announcing the official EMB closure

No.  It was bizarre.  Thinking it, feeling it, etc.  That's all fine.  Saying it in that moment in that interview... that was what was bizarre.   A better answer, whether true or not, would have been:  "Its very different there from where I'm from, but it was interesting to see a big city like that with all those people."   I hated my time at Times Square... like a weird crack-pot convention.  BUT... if I were interviewing with an organization located a stone's throw from there, I wouldn't have said it.  I'd have not shared my true thoughts on Times Square.

Right.  There's what you've seen... which is positive at LT.  then there's what you've heard... mostly rumors, reading between lines, tea leaves, etc.  Nothing the team has actually done should make you question him.... yet.  There's still time for that though.

It just feels like they would have shot this down more aggressively if there wasn't substantial truth behind it.  Granted, the QB position is more of a lightning rod, but look how quickly all of the Josina-induced Wentz chatter was slammed down.  Howie even said a couple nice, obligatory things about JJAW this April.

Perhaps I missed it...but have Doug or Howie said anything about Dillard?  I feel like the silence is becoming deafening.

That's because few of them grew up in a similar situation as he so can't grasp that mindset as it's not something they can relate to.

Based on that picture in the latest tweet, it could be.

You are reading into things again though.  Like I said, rumors, reading between lines and reading tea leaves.  No direct quotes, no moves that could be even remotely linked to a change in direction at LT.  In fact, the only move that has been made was a confirmation of moving on at LT by letting Peters test FA market, and then they've not been linked to him at all since (except by Johnson, who is a friend...  it means nothing.)  Sanders was also stoked for the Eagles to draft Hamler.  Something tells me if both Hamler and Hurts are there at 53, the Eagles still go Hurts.  But, that's conjecture.

Have the Eagles actually done anything that would cause you to question their commitment to Dillard at LT for at least 2020?

Honestly this is the first year in a really long time and remember a bunch of weird quotes or reasonings from players in the draft process. Usually there’s one or two but i feel there’s been more this time around then in the past. So either they’re not listening to the people around them telling them what to or not to say. Or somebody’s not prepping him right. Because what you said at the end that’s what they should’ve done is just not said anything or lied so they don’t come off looking bad

I wonder if maybe he and Higgins have the same agent.  Higgins comments at the Combine were... misguided as well.  Tyler Johnson also... I think at the Senior Bowl.  All WRs its possible they are all linked by the same agent, and maybe that agent just isn't good at communicating how to communicate in the media.  These guys need some help from Crash Davis:

I still want to know exactly which player took a call through his laptop from a team laying on his bed watching TV, and continued to that while speaking to coaches and GM.

That's crazier that what Mims said.

That's some Deion stuff. 😅

I have to imagine it was either somebody who knew they were going to be a top five player of top 10 player (like i could see chase young doing it knowing he was a lock ) Or someone like Daniel t’eo-nesheim who was just an out there type of personality.

I think Dillards biggest issue is he is physically and mentally weak.  Much like JJAW he his body is nowhere near NFL ready.  He needs the right nutrition and weight program to build his body to deal with the best the NFL has.  Mentally, I really think the game the Eagles put him at RT reallllly messed him up.  To me, and I'm just a casual fan, it seems he hasn'y recovered from that.  Couple that with the stories of him crying during training camp and you have a weak minded player.

So not only are you dropping in talent level from JP but also the mental aspect.  JP was a warrior, win at all cost, you touch my QB I'm coming after you guy.  I don't see that fight in Dillard.  I hope I'm wrong.  I want him to succeed.  I want him to anchor the LT position for the next 10 years.

If I’m not mistaken, Dillard hasn’t played since the debacle experiment at RT. How can you determine he hasn’t recovered from that?

he played in jumbo packages, but certainly not enough to make any determination one way or the other

JP to guard will literally never die.

Right. Lets say Peters comes back to play guard, they gonna kick seumalo to the bench so peters can play guard? They sure as heck wouldnt bench brooks the highest paid guard???

I cant see peters coming back to rotate snaps with dillard, why would he come back to be a back up and why would the eagles bench dillard to start peters just to limit dillards progress.

Dillard looked fine to me last year at LT

Ahh ok. I didn’t recall him being back on the field after that.

Dillard may or may not be soft.

I "whined” at the time that it was a mistake to allow that to be the last taste of football experience in his mouth for year 1.  It’s always important to get back on the horse and you don’t want anyone’s confidence to stew on that for 9 months...even a tough guy.

That was a mistake.

According to LGM, he did play some, but not at a set position. I agree with your premis though. I wouldn’t want the RT debacle to be his last game experience.
