I don't see the urgency to give away a significant amount of draft capital to trade up for one of the top three.  A talented WR with skills that complement the existing group of receivers can be had somewhere between 21 and 53.

I went back and looked at the past 10 Probowl rosters.  The only WRs on SB winning teams were Tyreek Hill and Greg Jennings.  Only three more played in the SB - Julio, Demaryius, and Welker. (the year they were selected)

With the dearth of young talent on defense, giving away valuable picks would, IMO, be a mistake.

I have spoken.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Teams with cap space for a Jeffrey's salary (10M) & 10M is factored in for rookie contracts + soft WR Needs

  • Browns
  • Lions
  • Colts
  • Washington
  • Miami
  • Titans

There's just not a long list. Some of those teams could easily draft a WR during the draft. Some are odd culture fits (Lions).
If it's not the Colts or the Browns for something like a 6th, I don't see a team doing it.

Didn't know the list would be so short. Thought there'd be more teams with cap space

I feel like caplan started that thouhht process about two weeks ago where he said he could see it. I just don’t see it. We’ve seen speed guys with more injury concerns than him move up higher than they should’ve.

Maybe GM's learned their lesson with John Ross.

Who am I kidding, no they haven't

Around 4 or 5

I was probably the first to ask, but did it completely tongue in cheek. Don't know how I could've made that any clearer for some people aside from writing "Just Kidding" in bold letters. Why would an athlete care about an internet message board? 😂

Can't speak for everyone else.

Speed blinds GMs. I’m all for speed at WR but i think sometimes it’s overrated. Like John Ross had a laundry list of injuries and wanted no part of him. Yet somehow wound up being a top 10 pick. I was actually shocked brown fell to 25. Frankly if dillard didn’t fall i think that was the guy they go after.

Interesting question. Better suited for someone else than me. Am also curious.

I know Dillard was obviously very raw coming out. I imagine the top guys in this draft are more pro-ready day 1. Most of them probably have less upside/potential than Dillard though.

Possible 4 in Thomas, becton, wirfs and wills. It’s looking like Austin jackson and jones potentially could sneak into the top 20.

Similar to Sam Baker circa 2008.

In terms of tackles alone? Top 5, easily.

Pissed?  I would be doing back flips of joy, into my swimming pool, all-night-long if that happened.

Overall? Are there any OTs that would be ranked higher than him?

Sam Baker takes me back. Geez it’s been 12 years already.

I meant just among the tackles, he'd be the 4th or 5th best option.

Wirfs, Wills, Becton are all better prospects imo. When you get to Thomas it's debatable for him vs Dillard. I'd probably lean Thomas.

It's a strong tackle class, which hopefully bodes well for WRs falling a little bit...

Both I guess. I was just curious how he ranks compared to other tackles and just every other player in other positions

It's very top heavy, which makes it great for WR's falling.

I'd say he would be maybe the third best prospect at tackle. Definitely top 5. Could definitely still see him picked in the first. Early second at the latest.

We had this discussion a couple times around the combine. I still think wirfs and wills are better than dillard. I’d make the argument becton and Thomas are also better prospects to contribute right away. I don’t see either as being elite pass pro but they are much better as run blockers coming into the league than dillard. I think they are comparable. I could see the argument made for dillard over Thomas and even becton considering becton off field concern. however i think Thomas has position versatility where you could play him at guard. While he’s not as great pass pro as dillard he’s also much better run blocking. Dillard was elite pass pro. I also think becton is prototypically what you want in your LT. Dillard was a giant unknown as a run blocker cause really wazzu they never did much of it. I think that’s a major reason he fell.

I can see Jeudy falling. If he's there at 21... omg

I would say sprint to the podium but no actual need to move.

It would be worth a trade up 2 or 3 spots to get him

Ive used red wine vinegar in cooking and dont mind the taste but when it comes to cooking with wine i wouldnt know where to start. When i was in highschool i had a career counselor take me to meet the executive chef at the local marriot hotel, he bought me lunch and talked to me told me he went to france just to study wine and that if i were serious about becoming a chef id have to learn about wine. It kind of turned me off of being a chef, years later and a whole life later i went back to culinary school and during my first semester my wife got unplanned pregnant, with twins😳 i had to take time off school and then we ended up moving away and i havent been back since due to life and not sure if its in the cards anymore, but i really enjoy talking about food and learning from others so thanks for the tips. If i were going to make like a mushroom sauce for pasta what kind of wine would one use???

Can’t miss with a Marsala wine sauce.  I do with chicken. Most recipes call for it in a cream sauce but I find with some stock (chicken or beef) and reduction, it is fine without the cream or butter and probably better for me. If you do decide to use cream, go for a recipe that calls for a couple tablespoons.  You want dry Marsala not sweet.

If you like poached salmon, I have a recipe that uses jalapeño wine.   Very good.  Don’t know if my mom or my sister found it.  Now jalapeño wine is hard to find.  But it is easy to replicate. Just get a bottle of unoaked Chardonnay and pour what you need in a Mason jar, put in a fresh jalapeño pepper and leave it in the fridge for a week or so.   Don’t throw the pepper away.  I chop it up and mix into a rice dish to go with the fish.

Agreed with everything said. It's also not a lock any of these guys become a better T than Dillard but this is just as prospects. I think taking a guy like Wirfs gives you at worst a really good/great Guard and at best a top T, where as with Dillard he's going to boom or bust at LT.
