Right. Lets say Peters comes back to play guard, they gonna kick seumalo to the bench so peters can play guard? They sure as heck wouldnt bench brooks the highest paid guard???

I cant see peters coming back to rotate snaps with dillard, why would he come back to be a back up and why would the eagles bench dillard to start peters just to limit dillards progress.

Dillard looked fine to me last year at LT

I also don't get why people still knock Seumalo so much. He had a rough game against Atlanta and Grady Jarrett. Other than that he was solid. 5 penalties all year and only 5 sacks allowed. PFF had him as the 9th highest rated guard for 3/4 of the season. Throwing Peters at this age in an unknown role seems like an easy downgrade to me.

The only scenario that makes it work is if Peters agrees to come back and compete for LT, with the idea in mind that there's a very good chance he's the backup/possible swing T. If he's head and shoulders above Dillard during TC/Preseason then the have a difficult decision to make.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Dillard may or may not be soft.

I "whined” at the time that it was a mistake to allow that to be the last taste of football experience in his mouth for year 1.  It’s always important to get back on the horse and you don’t want anyone’s confidence to stew on that for 9 months...even a tough guy.

That was a mistake.

If it makes you feel any better, he did play 17 offensive snaps after that game...

Well it’s better than nothing.

I also wonder how many of those snaps were as a LT vs extra OL in a jumbo package.

Ahh ok. I didn’t recall him being back on the field after that.

I remember seeing him a few times when they were backed up against their goal line but couldn't tell you what he did other than line up next to Peters. Were talking maybe 10 snaps.

If I’m not mistaken, Dillard hasn’t played since the debacle experiment at RT. How can you determine he hasn’t recovered from that?

I'm not saying he hasn't.  It's the offseason.   There were a quite a few rumors about him possibly being traded so just going over all scenarios as why.  There might not be any truth to them but then again there might be.  If there is truth, what would cause the Eagles to sour on him so fast.

For all we know Dillard is out there grinding away in the gym and using the poor performance at RT as motivation to be the best tackle he can be.  We just don't know but it's fair to question what kind of player he is going to be.

Looking at Peters snap counts, 4 at most at LT

I would be absolutely shocked if Peters came back and did not start at LT week 1.  More stunned than if they drafted a punter at 53.

It just feels like they would have shot this down more aggressively if there wasn't substantial truth behind it.  Granted, the QB position is more of a lightning rod, but look how quickly all of the Josina-induced Wentz chatter was slammed down.  Howie even said a couple nice, obligatory things about JJAW this April.

Perhaps I missed it...but have Doug or Howie said anything about Dillard?  I feel like the silence is becoming deafening.

They keep putting themselves in these positions too

Yup Seumalo was solid last year after a shakey start.

Hes gotten stronger and improved his technique. I dont think hell ever be all pro but one doesnt need an all pro at every position Wiznewski is perfect Example. Wiz won a super bowl with the eagles and won another last year with the chiefs. Both those games they didnt win despite him he was a solid LG in both cases, nothing spectacular just reliable.

Seumalo is reliable thats all the eagles need him to be.

Same goes for dillard. If he never makes a pro bowl who cares, if he can be a reliable LT who can be consistently solid than thats enough. He has the talent and feet to be consistently good, he needs more strength to be a a top LT but he can get there. If not one still has a solid starter at LT that can be trusted.

Honestly this is the first year in a really long time and remember a bunch of weird quotes or reasonings from players in the draft process. Usually there’s one or two but i feel there’s been more this time around then in the past. So either they’re not listening to the people around them telling them what to or not to say. Or somebody’s not prepping him right. Because what you said at the end that’s what they should’ve done is just not said anything or lied so they don’t come off looking bad

"The people around them" are not around them. Seriously. COVID-19 is isolating us all. Add to that desperate reporters having nothing to write about and this is what you get.

Or "the people around them are the wrong people".

Interesting to see some of these guys unfiltered.  You figure there have been guys like this every year that get polished enough to not raise eyebrows.  But are probably the ones that end up not succeeding a year or two into their careers because they just don't get it.

Just cause they aren’t there physically doesn’t mean they aren’t talking to them on a daily basis. Most agents are not side by side with all their clients on a daily basis but still can prep them. Obviously less in face To face interaction. However I know one of the major agents for Arizona players after they leave school talks to his clients at least once a day Since this started. I’m guessing he likely talked to draft hopefuls about the do’s and donts of the process. There’s communication even if they aren’t physically holding their hand through it.

most of the college football draft eligible players signed with agents with PR people as far back as December and January. that’s about 1.5-2 months before this where they weren’t just working out but being prepped for situations that arise through this and how to answer or defect questions

Is that part of it? Wouldn’t doubt it but i don’t think that’s the complete underlying reason is blaming it strictly on covid19 and quarantine

the other problem is the groups of people they listen to cause of how long they have been associated with them over who they should be trusting going through this process who’ve done it for the 10th or more time.

Does anyone think we are done at RB? Or do we think they'll bring in another experienced RB? I certainly hope they do.

Lurie is the problem.  He allows this BS to be their culture.  They have their championship.  They don’t give a F as long as they keep selling tickets.

This was the thinking of fans before the SB.  Lurie didn't care and only wanted to sell tickets.  Then they won a SB.

The idea that Lurie doesnt want to win is ridiculous.  We can always go back to the ownership days of Norman Braman.

Yeah, Lurie is a great owner in the grand scheme of things. Even before 2017 he went out of his way to put a good product on the field. His greatest move was pulling the rip-cord on Chip when he could have ridden it out for another couple years.

So Fran Duffy's EMB username was fdiggle fan?

I wonder what Bradley Cooper went by. RememberTheKoy maybe.

I keep forgetting how hot Kay Adams is. She's the perfect woman.

No.  It was bizarre.  Thinking it, feeling it, etc.  That's all fine.  Saying it in that moment in that interview... that was what was bizarre.   A better answer, whether true or not, would have been:  "Its very different there from where I'm from, but it was interesting to see a big city like that with all those people."   I hated my time at Times Square... like a weird crack-pot convention.  BUT... if I were interviewing with an organization located a stone's throw from there, I wouldn't have said it.  I'd have not shared my true thoughts on Times Square.

In fairness he's a kid. My oldest is interviewing for a web designer job with a pretty decent sized local business and he asked me to proof read his thank you letter for the interview. In it he put that although he was nervous at first that their interview process helped put him at ease. I told him to re-phrase and take out the nervous part.
