My bigger issue with Barnett is that he seems a bit like a hot head and has had some cheap shots. The Williams hit in the Green Bay game and diving at the Jets lineman on Gerry's pick six just to name a few. He also had a bad roughing the passer call in the Seattle playoff game.

That would be my biggest issue too. He’s not good enough to do dumb S like that.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Yeah, that's got to stop. Can't have another year of penalties like he did last year.

Don’t forget Andre Dillard

And where did I say, they all suck. I said they had things the need to work on to become better players. Anything I listed you disagree with?

You say mediocre but then you go ahead and list all their weaknesses while not acknowledging any strengths. You may not have outright said it but that's what your post implied. I don't think you're wrong in your assessment of their weaknesses, but you have to acknowledge they have their strengths as well (obviously, or they don't get drafted). I'm not even sure I disagree with the overall sentiment that it wasn't a great draft, I will always hate the Hurts pick and they took some really raw guys, but you can't just say "this was a mediocre draft, here's all the things these guys don't do." Like others have said, no player is perfect.

This is just bad.

Barnett is such a frustrating player. He flashes occasionally, and he's just good enough that we can't move on from him but not good enough that we can count on him as a major contributor. Okay production, stupid penalties, probably never going to be a big sacks guy but we have no one to replace him with so we're just kind of stuck.

So if he goes on to break every Eagles passing record and winds up in the Hall of Fame (not saying it's even likely to happen, so don't go there), you'll still "hate" the pick? Seems to me like you've dug your heels in already.

They didn’t wanna "false start”... ok I’m done. Good night.

Yes I will hate the pick and freely admit that I am wrong for hating it

A chance to watch a Prince and Driscoll double feature.

I’ll leave the analysis to the OL gurus in here. I freely admit I am not one.

Buffalo fans say he is a great person. Happy he is on the squad. Going to be a good leader.

The contradiction of the pick is what bothers me. If they made the pick based on your above scenario, then they totally screwed up giving Wentz the keys to the franchise and he's not the answer. Because in a perfect world, Wentz is the quarterback for this team for the next 7-8 years. This was an insurance selection, unless if they're afraid Wentz is going to pull a Luck and retire if he suffers another significant injury or he has told them that he only plans on playing for another couple years.

I watched this game and his game against UCLA.

As you’d expect from a seventh-round pick, there wasn’t much to get excited about in the way of skill. He doesn’t seem to have a pass rush plan outside of looping outside and called stunts. He plays high as a rusher, displaying little dip or bend. He’s not effective against the run.

That said, you can see a little bit of why Barwin likes him. He has long arms and pretty good movement skills, although he’ll need to maintain that while adding bulk. You can see the speed and athleticism  He just doesn’t know how to use it.

Barring the addition of two pass rush moves, he’ll be a poor man’s Barwin. I don’t mean the good 3-4 OLB Barwin, but the end of his career 4-3 end, who could only win with looping outside rushes and twists, except Barwin could set the edge.

While this was mostly a negative write up, I like taking a shot on someone with a good frame and athleticism. He’s a lump of clay that needs significant sculpting.

Interestingly enough, his top athletic comp on MockDraftable was no other than Barwin.

The only ones not mentally strong are the fanboys here wringing their hands over a perceived threat to their idol.   There is no threat.  Hurts is the backup, end of story.

I bet Suds is I’d also bet the return on investment will be below par ( Dobbins = par ). That’s my hot take as I poo pooed the hiring of DP and trading away so much to get Wentz, so I’ve been wrong before ... way wrong

They intended to,  but they did not.  He was unblocked.

Playoff stats usually aren’t padded in to regular season stats when discussing productivity.  In fact, they never are.  It was a good play.  I won’t deny him that.

I will defer to @HazletonEagle for any further Barnett discourse tonight.

There's no objectivity here about Barnett and won't be till the day he's gone.  Then suddenly everyone will say he always disappointed.

Pretty sure you are adding to that streak big time! 😁

Tampa Bay or NO in a season or so. You know it won’t be Dallas but maybe the Skinz

I still hope for the best from Dillard until a roster move proves otherwise.

But if Jason Peters starts at LT in 2020, Dillard’s value to us and to everyone else goes to 0.  He’d earn bust status faster than Danny Watkins did.

Nah, he wouldn't be a bust because he played well at lt when he played.  If Peters comes back I'm gonna be pretty pissed barring injury to Dillard

I won't subject members to ads, (unless it's 100% the last resort to saving us from going broke lol). If any ads are placed, I'd only want them to be visible to guests and even then, as unobtrusive/obnoxious as possible.

The nice thing about the Invision message board software is that I can pick who sees ads and I can easily pick where the ads are placed... and there's no way I'll allow any kind of popup/pop-under ads. The way I look at those kinds of ads is that they're not only obnoxious and invasive, they're unethical.

You should let the Eagles advertise here and charge them 1 million dollars.

@ghor? @meatmcginley?

I mean the guy has great reflexes/speed but wth is that supposed to do

I would think the ONLY place Peters plays is here. Of course if he comes back, he'll be the starter, problem is, if we want him back at all he's going to make like 1/20th what he got paid for the past 7 years.

I'd like to move on but if Jason has another year in the tank and wants to play for that? Well then sure "it could happen"

Don't think it will . I think Peters has dreams of one Last year being regarded and paid like one of the best LTs in the league.

That I assure you, will not happen.

Howie & Lurie have a tricky situation because you'd like to see him in an Eagles uniform but you don't want to piss him off either.

He had 0 years in the tank last year.  I just think the team needs to be able to move on.
