Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I have to assume there is a way out of that contract that is not apparent on the cap website.

I find it shocking that Howie would go from nearly letting him walk before signing that deal to wrapping up that kind of capital in him for 2021.

I am no expert in NFL salaries, but he signed a contract with $27 million in gtd. salary, and at the end of 2021 they will have paid him roughly $27 million, so I think there won't be any dead money after that.

Neither here nor, but Barry Gardner is Shaun Bradley’s agent. Time flies.

"A way out” no, I don’t see it. They gave him $27M in guarantees, and by signing him and then immediately restructuring him, they only accounted for slightly less than $10M in the first two years.

There are some things he could do to help the situation though. Most notably, get him to take a pay cut from that $13M non guaranteed salary in 2021. I don’t know how Howie will be able to do that though since he essentially turned that non guarantee into an unofficial guaranteed salary

That’s because you are including his $13M base salary into the guaranteed number when it is not guaranteed at all.

I agree with the take on Prince.  He could develop into a starting OT.  But, he's not ready yet.  Would be interested if they see him as a swing OT this year or not.  He did line up on both sides (though mostly they ran out of the tackle over alignment... and often to the weak side).

So we've got a LT that cries frequently during practice, a big, slow WR whose mommy shields him from the sun with an umbrella, and now we have a safety that tweets "baby talk."  Flag football will come sooner than we think fellas.

Agreed. It’s just that at Baylor I didn’t (in limited viewing) see him make adjustments on deep balls. He was very good at using his body to shield defenders, make contested catches, etc. The ball tracking and deep ball ability wasn’t a calling card for him.

Doesn’t mean he’ll suck at it on the pro level, but I do think that’s a ?, despite his incredible workout #s

In Round 4 or 5, I was all in on Mims.  Round 2?  Definitely not.  Middle of Round 3?  Maybe.  @103?  Sure.

Top 5 pick... WR.

I saw that the other day.  Justin Jefferson fans take note, he had the highest accurate pass %  at a whopping 69%.

Now compare that to what Reagor dealt with at 31%.

Old news.  That graphic was around for a long time.  Not really a super relevant stat.  It's about the abilities of the individual players, not the stats.  Jefferson is a much more polished WR coming into the NFL.  That said, I'm not upset about Reagor being the pick, even with Jefferson sitting there as well.

Man whoever was throwing the ball to Lamb must've been pretty good...

Being on par with the Oregon St QB is "good"?

Curious to see what Baker and Murray's numbers were in that system as QBs flourish in it.

Those are percentage of passes to arguably the easiest target to hit in college football too.

The Eagles use a lot of signing bonuses. Retirement (Kelce, Graham) solves that problem as they give the money back on a pro-rated basis.

Literally the first person I’ve heard say anything close to that

Isn't this the opposite of how a GM is supposed to evaluate a combine 40?  Use the 40 to verify a player's game speed...........not to over elevate their position on the draft board.

Although what the hell do I know?  Vikings are 10x the evaluators the Eagles are at WR.

If they pursue it. I also don’t see how Howie could possibly make the argument that Graham needs to pay back any of his bonus based on dummy years added to the contract. Those last three years were always set to automatically void, it’s not like Graham would be retiring with the team expecting him to honor those years.

Just exactly which quarterbacks have we developed here?

McNabb
Feeley (turned into a high second round pick)
Kolb (turned into high second round pick and a CB)
Vick (much better QB here than in Atlanta, there he was just an athlete)
Foles (only seems to find the magic with the Eagles and even then its hit or miss)
Wentz

Now, are they Mark Brunell who left GB and turned into a Pro Bowler?  No.  But, in terms of what the team needed... they worked out.
Feeley went 4-1 in 5 starts in 2002 to maintain HFA, and they flipped him for a nice pick.
Kolb - filled in ok for McNabb when injured.  Showed enough as a starter before his concussion to get AZ interested to repay the pick used to draft him, plus interest (DRC).
Vick - Put on an MVP like campaign in relief of Kolb.  And was a dropped Riley Cooper fade pattern from getting this team a playoff win.
Foles - 27/2 stretch... magical SB run in NFCCG and SB.  Worth everything we ever spent on him.
Wentz - high investment, but is what he was billed to be.  Just a question of durability.

His numbers were very comparable to both Murray and Mayfield.  Comp % very close, yards passing a little down from Mayfield, but Mayfield didn't run much at all, Hurts went 32/8 where both Murray and Mayfield were 42/7 and 43/6

Do we know when the schedule is going to be released?

No one does.  There was a mention of a season starting in mid-October, 16 games, no byes and no week off between the Conference CGs and the Super Bowl.

He never belonged anywhere near the top 5.  He was a man amongst boys...4 year player...in a low-end MAC conference.  Then he never worked out during the entire draft process...both for the stopwatches and for practice routes.  That was his chance to shine with a common measuring stick.

Ignoring hindsight, I wouldn't have drafted him before early 2nd.  Your entire grade on him is based on what he did against hideous competition.    With hindsight, I'd draft him in the third (probably turns out better in our offense than theirs).

I thought calling the team QB Factory is bit arrogant.  Desires to groom and develop QB is honorable, but churning QBs out for the league is more a job for the college teams.  Most of the quality QBs in NFL have arrived with QB accomplishments in college.  The pro coaching and game experience get them to a higher level.  It is more like refining the player than manufacturing one from scratch.

Having 2 QBs on the field did not work for me.  As a decoy, having a skill position player to double on passing the ball would work better.  Remember the Phillie Special?  Could that work with the same effect if someone like Hurts were to make that throw?  IMHO, defense would have smelt it if 2 QBs were on the field for that play.

In the early days of Mike Vike with the team, he would come in replacing McNabb on some plays.  That again was a give-away on the kind of plays to be run, and that did not work all that well either.

Yes, Lincoln Riley = QB factory...drafting guys from there is not.

Putting that Northwestern education to good use.

That’s what’s it supposed to be, verification. Who cares what he tested at if the tape of actual games doesn’t show it?

In any case, I think the Vikings GM is just gassing up Jefferson here while also justifying his pick. Nothing more than GM speak

Basing off how the NFL has operated so far, I think they will release the schedule as planned on Thursday, with the caveat that it is tentatively scheduled. I think they would have canceled the announcement by now if they planned to

I don't disagree.  But he was the target of a lot of 'fanboying' on the EMB and so forth, and went higher than expected, but has really disappointed.  CeeDee Lamb was the equivalent this year.  There's no guarantee that Lamb doesn't follow a similarly disappointing arc.  He could explode on us, or on the Cowboys.  The draft is a lot more crap shoot than many are willing to admit, but its also down to player development.  So glad to have a new WR coach.  Need Moorehead to be the real deal there.
