Throw everyone before Foles out the window as you can't count completely different staffs as "developing QB's"now, as if Howie or Lurie has much of anything to do with it, as they are the only constants through that list.

That's fair.  However, the thought process of it absolutely sits in the Howie's and Lurie's mind.  Howie saw it under Andy and it did provide extra draft compensation in some years... high value picks.  Even the Kolb pick (which was a high value pick to start with) came back with a little interest after he spent 3 years here.  So, what he's seeing is... I can get value from the player as a backup, and then potentially flip him for more than the initial investment somewhere down the line.  In other words, on those high picks - the Eagles got back more than their initial investment - McNabb, Kolb, even Foles, though it was delayed... and even Wentz.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Great write up @John_C.

I agree but and large.

I understand the FO mindset, I just don't agree with it.

They haven't been great on targeting talent, period. Hurts is such a strange pick in terms of fit.

I don't hate the kid at all. Just really don't think it is helping Carson as much as they could/should.

If you saw my selfie you wouldn't be able to control yourself.

Also, have to include the myriad of guys who haven't developed. Suds, Thorson, etc.

No doubt.  But, Suds was zero investment beyond a roster spot.  Thorson was a 4th or 5th round pick... low investment.  Those guys are lottery tickets, not value picks.

No, I get the thought process behind it. They see themselves as part of helping to do that far more than they should and need to consider the staff on hand.

Our QBs best year were obviously under Reich, Flip, and Doug.

So far, Doug and his picks to replace them have not done a great job.

Hell, Suds looked better then than now too.

This stuff is becoming insufferable.   They did what they did, how many diatribes need to be written to feel right and righteous?   It just feels like a bunch of you are vying for the "I can't wait to say I told you so" trophy.  Enjoy a young person's chance to live a dream, enjoy potential and hope and the unknown.   Of course there are obstacles and it may all crash and burn, but it may not as well.  It could evolve into perfect symmetry, which is what I hope you all want, but from what I read from a lot of you would rather grind an axe.  Boring as crap.

That's deep stuff dude.

Yes, but they can be targeted and developed at those ranges.

And yet.....

If they don't develop Hurts, people are getting canned all over the place.

That's a pretty silly place to put yourself in, IMO.

When that's the case, the pick was egregious.

If Wentz doesn't get illegally blasted in the head on his way to the ground by one of the dirtiest players in the league in the playoffs last year, do the Eagles still make this ridiculous pick at 53?

The deepest.  I had my moment of despair when the pick was made, but hell, water under the bridge and move on.

Random prediction...

I think the end of the Rodgers era in Green Bay ends sooner rather than later. Would not be shocked if it ends this offseason. I think if he plays this year and they noticeably regress, he’s definitely done.

The best fit for him, imo, would be San Francisco. It’d make sense. Jimmy G, a 1st, and another mid-round pick get it done?

Holy ish, what a deep and profound question!?  Give us some more.  You are on a roll.

Hard to say. It's almost like Howie was the one that got blasted in the head

Yes.

Even if he hasn’t missed one career start I think they make that pick.

LOL what?  Why would they trade assets away to bring in Jimmy G next offseason when they just moved up in the 1st round to draft their future franchise QB??

If Carson gets hurt, then retires, I'd be cool with getting Rodgers.

So if he noticeably regresses S.F. is going to give up a 1st, jimmy g and a mid round pick?  What the heck are you smoking?

Why don't you answer the question Aristotle?

They would get more than just jimmy G... start jimmy g for 1-2 years before Love is ready. Makes plenty of sense. All Green Bay gives up is Rodgers.

THEY... the TEAM.

In this scenario, I'm sure Jimmy G would just go along with everything  😂

For the full game, @VaBeach_Eagle may know a better source.

I had actually intended on making some more Blu-Ray's to send out, then this stupid pandemic hit and threw everything off.

I do still intend on doing that here, though.

So you think Jimmy G would just retire?it’s clear the niners looked into shopping him this offseason and were at least interested in signing Brady...

How do you like my car factory? So far we have produced 1 car and it keeps breaking down

Sorry Carson

6 weeks after my club fitting they finally opened the place up for a couple hours to grab my new sticks.

So stoked to have something to go out and do again!

If the Eagles had won that game, I don't think they would have made the pick even if he was hurt.
