Nothing wrong with a failed experiment in round 7.

Understood. And for what it's worth, I don't think Mailata is even close to being a failure. On the contrary, I think he's pretty much right on course. After all, he did play well in both preseasons, at both left tackle and right tackle. And even if he weren't injured, it's unlikely he would have played anyway during the regular season. I think this coming year is the telling one. He needs to prove that he's capable of functioning at an acceptable level in a backup role. If he can do that, then you're looking at pushing for real playing time the season after. I still have hopes for him.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

That’s awesome. I wasn’t a fan of Reader at 21 so this would be great to look at. Though I’ve come around on him since... Now he’s just gotta be a versatile and productive weapon.

I’m optimistic he’ll really help open things up. I was on again/off again for days prior (off when there was the chance at getting Lamb), but I’m over it and love the pick. I love most of the National media take as I’m sick of hearing how we should’ve taken Jefferson. Had we took him, their take would’ve matched the posters on the board of "slot only” and "redundant”. They’d be asking over and over "where’s the explosion?” Since we went against the grain of their experts and mock draft machines  that were overwhelmingly in favor of the LSU product, now we get to hear about Lamb and the "best route runner in the draft”.

I personally cheered when they announced Reagor.  He fits exactly what the Eagles need, and his ceiling is higher than Cypress Hill.  Right before the pick was announced, I felt exactly the way I felt right before Barnett and Dillard.  I had this weird feeling they'd go with the unexplosive, safe slot guy who played on the best offense in college football history.

As I type this, I'm sure Jefferson will become the next Michael Thomas......

The pro comps are still in the back of my mind. :D I’m sure Jefferson will be a great WR and if not for the personnel we already have he’d been a great fit. On another note, does anyone remember OBJ’s height/weight being questioned when he was drafted? If it’s not one thing, it’s another from local/national media. Reagor’s size wise slots right in with him, AB, Hill, Edelman. 🤦‍♂️

I think there is a limit on Princes.  You going to elevate to King?

No, pops is still around for me to take that moniker yet.

Perhaps you could be a Duke.

Well, kids, in these uncertain times sometimes it's better to get back to wholesome basics to kind of rest your mind and attitude.

With everything going I like to take the time to share one of my favorite childhood stories.

Come, pull up a seat by the fire, bring a beverage, and let me tell you about the time...

Hmmm....possibly.

Going to have to look into some Celtic and Scottish lore me thinks.

My ancestors were "The Red" or "The Black" but I don't have a beard of any color to remark on as they did.

Well, that does come with a cool hat.

Man. I still can't believe we got Quez and Hightower. Both of these guys would probably go 3rd or 4th round in most drafts.

How does the receiver squad work out?

Alshon IR. Desean, Reagor, Jjaw, Ward, Watkins, Hightower, Goodwin.

I could see Quez being our starter in the slot this year. He has great hands and speed. This guy is no slouch. Hope people have watched him.

I'm liking this draft. Those comp picks were very valuable.

Funny story, there were some who took the comp pick frenzy during FA to an extreme the other way and were making it sound like they were meaningless.  Howie turned that pick where the Cowboys moved up to grab Biadasz, into a future 5th, Bradley, Watkins and Toohill.  Not a bad haul, really.  And the 6th pick turned into Goodwin and Prince.

He's a complete and total fraud. He was on get up earlier this week putting a major positive spin on the Hurts pick. Then every time he goes on Philly sports talk radio he trashes it. He just panders to whatever crowd he is talking to at the time.

Sad that negative feedback = good ratings on Philly sports networks. Makes you think...

That’s everywhere. Controversy draws the masses

Finished listening to Reese’s call of LII. It was thoroughly enjoyable. I haven’t listened to him call a full game in more than 20 years.

why would Graham do that?

and to be fair to Howie, he said they WANT to be a QB factory - not that we are one already

Little distinctions like this are lost in the rush to characterize and spin comments to meet agendas and narratives.

Lurie also said the Eagles would like to be known as the Gold Standard of player character. Never heard that repeated correctly since...

Even Vince Young's Dream Team comment was twisted immediately and his actual comment remains lost in the noise.

People hear what they want and that's their reality.

Shame, really.

It's pathetic. I stopped listening to the fanatic on the way home from work on Wednesday morning because all they did was continue to **** about not only the Hurts pick, but the Reagor pick. I put it on this morning and literally right when I put it on they were ****ing and complaining about the draft. I last maybe 5 minutes and shut that crap down. I get not liking the Hurts pick. It's been a week though, for the love of god stop with the ****ing and whining. I really don't get the whining about the Reagor pick though, and acting like Justin Jefferson is a lock to be in the hall of fame. Anyone who put any time into the WR's in this draft new that Jefferson wasn't a good fit at all, and Reagor was. It really gets on my nerves when people who are paid to do this for a living don't put any time to know what they are talking about. When a guy Brings up Jefferson's stats versus Reagor's last year to bash the pick it exposes them for having zero clue. Rant over, and unlike these clowns I won't continue it for a week.

"When I'm talking to other owners or other GMs in the league, we're kind of the gold standard."

He wasn't referring to character or what they'd like to be known as.

Two years out of his four year contract are up.  If Mailata is not ready to even be a backup at this point, then it's not happening.

Comp pick, baby!

Eagles will trade a conditional 2021 1st for Yannick and extend him as part of the deal. This is not a matter of if but when. Their projected draft position in the upcoming draft won’t let them grab one of the top DEs to replace Graham.

Patriots don’t have any surplus draft capital to move up that far in the draft.  They will be in the 9-7, 8-8 range next season which would require a large trade-up to move into franchise QB territory

Their projected cap is more of a concern than their projected draft position. I’m not even sure what a projected draft position is when the draft is 357 days away

False.
