Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Little distinctions like this are lost in the rush to characterize and spin comments to meet agendas and narratives.

Lurie also said the Eagles would like to be known as the Gold Standard of player character. Never heard that repeated correctly since...

Even Vince Young's Dream Team comment was twisted immediately and his actual comment remains lost in the noise.

People hear what they want and that's their reality.

Shame, really.

Speaking of twisted quotes, the term "fastball" has been completely distorted ever since Andy Reid initially made the comment. At the time, he used the phrase to mean having a defensive line unit so deep as to always be able to keep their players fresh. Thus, they'd all be well rested and playing at top speed...a "fast ball" if you will. Instead, everyone now uses it to mean a defensive end with speed, usually of the undersized variety. And the term is always used negatively, in a mocking tone. I'm still irked every time I hear that phrase used now. That's not what he meant, people!

I think Hightower is going to turn out pretty well.

Thinking of what fans?   You can’t lump all fans in together, obviously.  Since there’s always disagreement in here between Eagle’s fans.

They won the SB.  Good for them.  Lurie signing off on the notion that their goal is to be a "QB Factory”, tells me all I need to know.

Yeah, it’s nice and all but he should concentrate on winning a couple more SB’s first. He’s getting way ahead of hisself taking a project with a 2. Should be taking potshots in the later rounds and even those should be warranted. Carson’s next concussion should that occur, I guess the plan is to RPO teams to death. Fail to plan, plan to fail ?

No brains. One crack in the pavement and his playing career could be over.

He looks fast when he turns the corner and heads up field.

I wonder why he fell to the sixth round then? Or was it fifth? Either way it was late round.

He's a raw route runner and a body catcher/doesn't use his hands - which isn't sustainable in the NFL. That's the scouting report, anyway.

It was also a deep class of WRs so that didn't help his chances of going earlier.

But actually if we can find ways to get the ball in his hands where body catching is fine then he's a hell of a weapon with ball in hand.

"Body catcher" isn't a good trait (ask Shelton Gibson).  Ideally, a good staff can work that out of him, though.

"When I'm talking to other owners or other GMs in the league, we're kind of the gold standard."

He wasn't referring to character or what they'd like to be known as.

Can't find an actual vid clip, only reporter's takes.

Guess it depends on which article you read...

From Forbes:

"His other 2003 claim that the Eagles had become the "gold standard” among NFL franchises because of the way they procured talent while managing the salary cap, was also one he’d probably like to have back."

Anyway, general point remains.

Moving on...

I'll do something at some point to put all of the board's affiliate links into one place, for anyone that wants to use them. But Fanatics approved us a little while ago.

This link should take you to Fanatics, and directly to their Eagles gear. Most purchases made using this link, will send 8% to the board. Some purchases might not send anything.

It's pathetic. I stopped listening to the fanatic on the way home from work on Wednesday morning because all they did was continue to **** about not only the Hurts pick, but the Reagor pick. I put it on this morning and literally right when I put it on they were ****ing and complaining about the draft. I last maybe 5 minutes and shut that crap down. I get not liking the Hurts pick. It's been a week though, for the love of god stop with the ****ing and whining. I really don't get the whining about the Reagor pick though, and acting like Justin Jefferson is a lock to be in the hall of fame. Anyone who put any time into the WR's in this draft new that Jefferson wasn't a good fit at all, and Reagor was. It really gets on my nerves when people who are paid to do this for a living don't put any time to know what they are talking about. When a guy Brings up Jefferson's stats versus Reagor's last year to bash the pick it exposes them for having zero clue. Rant over, and unlike these clowns I won't continue it for a week.

Maybe it has something to do with their lack of confidence in the Eagles ability to draft WR's?

They were bashing the Reagor pick almost immediately.  Made little sense to me at the time so I turned it off.   I figured they would get over it by day 2 then the Hurts picked happened and then boom, TATERGEDON live.  lol

I’m guessing the quarantine situation is just adding fuel to the fire.  Being quarantined, radio hosts included, all these folks are doing is dwelling on something that didn’t go their way...and here we are a week later and they are still complaining about it.

Anyway, as far as the Reagor pick goes, had it been Jefferson, there would have been just as many people complaining.

Their projected cap is more of a concern than their projected draft position. I’m not even sure what a projected draft position is when the draft is 357 days away

I'm just guessing, but I would assume top 32.
