I still don’t think Greg Lewis was all that bad of a WR coach. He’s clearly done fine with KC. The problem he had here is he was stuck with Jordan Matthews, Agholor, DGB, Huff. 3 guys who aren’t even in the league anymore. 2 of which haven’t played since that season.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

think about how bad last year was on offense and defense, and think about how bad our secondary has been for a few years. Think about the loyalty to a fault that Doug shows to his players, and coaches. And with all that in mind consider that Greg Lewis is the first and still only coach Doug has ever fired mid-season.

Of course Lewis can look good now in that talented Chiefs offense. Even Culley eventually looked good once he had Jackson and Maclin.

Greg Ward averaged 6.3 yards per target and 9.1 yards per catch. He wasn’t a productive or efficient player. He simply didn’t crap himself and stayed injury-free.

If you take away a 38-yard catch on a busted coverage against Dallas those numbers dip to 5.5 and 8.0. Those are putrid numbers.

Could add Bryce treggs to the names on that list. He’s also out of the league. He got a raw deal as at least give him better players and if he failed then so be it. Felt like he was a scapegoat for just having porous talent at WR. Only agholor is a nfl wr and really he’s not really good and hasn’t been in 3 of 5 seasons.  And in those two years he was competent i wouldn’t call him good.

I think that's more so a result of the way he was being used rather than his performance. He's a nice slot WR. Nothing special, but can be pretty productive.

Lol. That whole scene looking back at it was epitome of how bad the Talent was at WR that year. Frankly i can watch That whole incident and laugh Now but in the moment as eagles fans we understand Lewis frustration. Like the no. 1 thing you are taught is how to lineup and agholor couldn’t Even line up right and it cost us a touchdown.

Paul Turner could have done what he did. Soft zones and slant-flats against LBs.

He made one nice play against Washington. It’s a great memory and one of our most important plays from the season, but he’s about as Jaggy as it gets. He’s still making the transition to WR so there’s theoretical upside, but he didn’t really beat man coverage often. His production came due to usage and how teams defended him. Credit to him for not messing it up.

Really?  Produced?

Other than Ward, which practice squad WR produced?  Remember, Scott is a RB and Perkins is a TE.

I meant to quote you with the Ward stats. Produced is putting it kindly.

Well damn dude, you need SOME talent to work with. That’s a hell of a group to have for your first ever year as a WR coach.

I love Greg Lewis for that. Like he was just doing what all eagles fans were thinking and saying after that happened. I would have lost my crap even more if i were him. That headset would’ve been smashed.

Then we got a good veteran coach. Unfortunately we promoted him to a job he didn’t deserve.

I think he's a little bit better than you think. Not a world beater, of course, but he made some nice plays late last year. Did little things well.

Thanks for posting. I should have myself but was too lazy.

If it were scheme alone, JJAW would have made some of those plays.

One clip hardly proves anything.

It's obviously a little bit of both. Scheme and player.

I think at some point Carson kinda gave up on JJAW.  At the end, they were moving the ball with Ertz, Goedert, Ward, Sanders, and Scott.

On the opening catch against against the Cowboys, he may have been the last read in the progression.

Aside from the fact that I am 99% convinced he is done, there is an issue with his status as a star.

He was great in 2017 and helped us win a superbowl.  He has complained about his usage in this offense.  He's still a big name.  If he's healthy enough to play, he's not going to get a "fair" shot...he's going to get more than a fair shot.  They'll put him on the field and Wentz is really going to try to get him the ball.

Based on Sproles and Peters, I do not trust Doug to make the call that Alshon doesn't have it anymore.

If Alshon is coming into replace a productive player, that's one thing.  If he's coming in on game 4 after JJaw has average 45 yards a game, then the pressure is going to be on Alshon to produce.  If he's coming into replace JJaw's production from last season, I think they should give him a shot.

Which play was that after?

Except maybe Reagor turns that play into a TD because of his speed.

Was in Seattle in 2016. We were down 13-7 and we hit ertz on a 57 yard gain but it was called back cause agholor lined up wrong.

Ward has some value as a deep reserve and special teamer, so I don’t want to completely bash the player. I just see a guy who had the easiest job on the field in terms of the routes he ran and how he was defended, and managed to not screw it up.

I don’t see much value in what he does as a receiver. Just about anyone could do what he did — except Agholor in mid-breakdown.

Yup, and then proceeded to drop a wide open pass on the very next play
