Good point.  Although I think Agholor was "good” for about 2 seasons.  He really seemed to have turned the corner there for a while then for whatever reason (I think it had to do with him being in his own head) he regressed.

The thing with agholor was his rookie year he looked solid in the preseason similar to JJAW. Then he had some ups and downs before getting hurt. Felt like after he got hurt he just lost complete confidence. I also don’t think it helped there was immense amount of pressure to replace Maclin who had a career year the previous year and then lefted for KC. When he was drafted people were thinking he’d just step in for Maclin in Chip’s offense and thrive. I feel like that messed with him for the better part of his rookie and second season. I give Groh credit he got him turned around in 2017. His catch against the cardinals he’d never make his first two years. I think mentally he can’t get out of his own way and really in a place like Philly it can snowball fast on you.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I remember feeling bad for Vick when AR would drag him out onto the field for gimmicky plays.  He was so humbled, so eager to do what was asked of him...he would completely give up his head and his body for an extra yard (will Hurts do that?)  He wasn't very effective either.  When teams saw him in the shotgun, they knew what was happening.  He ran for <100 yards that year and had 2 rushing TDs.

Of note, late in the year, when Mcnabb was really falling apart, Vick stepped in and uncorked a 40-50 yard beautiful TD bomb.  It was just an old-fashioned great QB play.  Made the right read, threw a great pass.  It wasn't from 2 QB's on the field.

I remember those days.  In terms of pure, raw talent, I can’t remember another player who was more gifted than Michael Vick.   Other than the speed factor and his ability to escape pressure and run, Vick had one of the strongest arms I’ve ever seen.

He could literally throw a straight line bullet/dart pass 40-50 yards with what seemed to be little/no effort.  It looked as if it was just a simple flick of the wrist for him.   Most QB’s need to wind up to throw it that far and typically it will need to get air under it to get it that far....not with Vick...when he was zoned in, his 40 yard passes would be bullets darting across the field.  It was a pleasure to watch.   When he actually had to throw a bomb, he could get it 75 yards in the air with little effort as well.  Amazing.

He wants like $20M per season right?

Maybe on a 1 year deal it makes sense. Essentially trade $20M in cap space for 1 year of a good DE and a third round comp pick?

BGN posted an article saying that the Eagles have reportedly said he's not a culture fit.  $20 million is also space they could roll over into next year.  He's also never produced like a $20 million player.

Kempski has Holyfield over Warren at RB.   Warren is heavier, has better hands and a  snail can outrun Holyfield.   Both have decent feet.  Neither is good in pass protection.  Maybe an edge to Holyfield based on competition.  Interesting battle, if it comes to that.

Whose to say you get a comp pick? Seattle isn’t getting one for him whenever he signs

Vick was so physically gifted, much like Cunningham, it took him a long time to settle down and become a QB.  His reliance on his arm strength meant he didn't have to make early reads or throw receivers open which hurt his development.  He also really didn't have really good QB coaching until Reid.

He's just making a guess based on what he think the team saw in Holyfield last season.  I think they still may add another veteran to the roster as they get closer to camp.  I think Carlos Hyde is still available.

His immaturity and poor coaching spoiled stage 1 of his career.  In stage 2 with the Eagles, he had the coaching and his head was screwed on straight.  For half a season, it seemed we might be on to something monumental.  His downfall was that he just couldn't process the defense.

Always interesting to revisit. Had Reagor at #14 last year, before the TCU QBs tried to ruin him.

What order did he have other WRs in round 1?

Jeudy 8, Shenault 12, Lamb 22, Higgins 29.

I don't think there is going to be any "battles".  At best, 2 week camp in September and a shortened season.  Coaches will have to shoot from the hip.  Hopefully it turns out better than Howie shooting from the hip in the draft.

I suspect there is a move to isolated camps where everybody is checked out before they enter and not exposed outside.  Rent an entire hotel, bus to the Novacare. Even the cleaning staff and foot preparers are isolated with the teams.  We will see.

Reagor was on the trajectory to be an early first-round pick, but his 2019 season didn’t go as planned, mostly due to a freshman quarterback and an offense that didn’t allow him to flourish. Nonetheless, the Eagles were willing to bet on the talent, drafting him No. 21 overall a year after I mocked him No. 14 overall.

Drafted: No. 21 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles

Interesting.  Everyone pretty much knew Ruggs ran a sub 4.3 last year.  His production in 2019, if anything, was a disappointment.  Perhaps understandable considering the diversity of weapons at Alabama, but a step back nonetheless.  I think he was always in the first round conversation, but first WR off the board was a reach.

Reagor is easy to defend at #21 overall if you like him (I do).  His pure explosive talent and its proven translation into highlights on the field rival, if not exceed, every other WR in this draft, including Ruggs.

If you don't like the pick, it's easy to criticize the value.  Disappointing stop-watch results at the combine and really poor production in his final year.  Not many guys with those two issues sneak into round 1.  I think he has valid, reversible excuses for both, but I understand how some may be disappointed in the value relative to Jefferson (who I really don't like)...who had huge numbers in his final year and a really surprising combine.  Superficially, that screams first round.

I think the smart money, last year, was on Reagor as a talent for the 2020 speed-crazed NFL who belonged just outside the top 10.  The myopic lens of the draft process can mislead sometimes, so it's reassuring and interesting to be reminded that he was a consensus mid first round pick a year ago.

Just finished the Oakland and Cowboys games from 2017, man we are so lucky that the Eagles were able to pull it together in the playoffs. Those games were so yuck!!!!!! Except the defense I forgot how really good the D was that year, until the Super Bowl anyways.

The defense at home was really good. Especially in the playoffs. Atlanta might not have scored if not for two short fields off turnovers.

Foles was garbage in that Oakland game.  Not great against ATL in the playoffs.  Caught fire.  And then to start the next season, wasn't great either.  People were celebrating when Wentz was announced as the starter for wk 3 against Indy.  Foles is the streakiest QB we've had in a long long time.

Agree

That's probably similar to the thinking the Seahawks had last summer. I'm talking about the future third round comp pick. And yet since he hasn't signed anywhere and we're already past the cutoff date, they won't be getting any comp pick for him at all. So there's no guarantee the Eagles would eventually get one if they went that route.

As big a scumbag as he is, if the price is right, then the price is right.

Agree. I was hot for him last year and said so. I was PO'd when Seattle got him for a bag of balls. Our DL would be scary, adding him. Three legit DEs and three legit DTs with a nice group of young guys fighting for playing time.

Why in the world would you watch those games? Pure dreck.

Probably one of the streakiest QBs I can remember anywhere. The highs and lows of his game are just ridiculous. Guys tied for most TDs ever thrown in a single game, super bowl MVP, and yet had some absolutely awful games in between.
