Why would you want an average player if you’re clearly rebuilding. Barnett makes zero difference on that team.

Because...

1) Barnett is a bit better than just "average"
2) Even rebuilding teams need pass rushers
3) You can rebuild just fine around a 23-year-old DE on a reasonable extension
4) No matter how you feel about Barnett, he is MILES better than the following players...Al Woods, Dawaune Smoot, Cassius Marsh, and Lerentee McCray, all of whom comprise the depth chart at DE behind Ngakoue and Josh Allen.   All but one of those guys went undrafted
5) Barnett gives them a respectable pass rusher that they don't have to spend mega-bucks or a high draft pick on

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Ok but we’re talking about a team that clearly doesn’t see themselves as a contender. So why even take Barnett. Him being "miles” ahead of anyone is a huge stretch.

Phobia?  Nice try.

Are you really gonna keep arguing this when no one is on your side?

Barnett is the definition of AVG.  And take it from me.  The biggest Vols fan here.  He was great in college.  But avg in the pros.

Rebuilding teams need pass rushers, but they need draft picks more.  Rebuilding teams will not want to pay the money Barnett is going to want and not deserve.

It doesn't matter how bad their depth chart is.

Who cares how much money Barnett wants?  Teams don't decide what they're going to pay players based on what they *want*.

Of course it matters how bad their depth chart is.  Even if we agree that Barnett is just average, "just average" smokes the hell out of Barnett on a cheaper extension and a 3rd-round pick beats keeping disgruntled Ngakoue on the franchise tag and eventually losing him for nothing.  Trading Ngakoue for anything to anyone beats tying up that cash for one year and then losing the player.

He is absolutely 100% miles ahead of everyone on that depth chart outside of Allen and Ngakoue.  Not even a debate about that.  And that includes Aaron Lynch, who they apparently signed yesterday away from the Bears.  They're all journeymen and low-level production, with MAYBE the exception of Smoot but Barnett still is younger and has had better production.

I saw fans wearing those on some of the Eagles Facebook groups I’m in.   Why do you think it’s shameful?  Honest question because I’m not sure one way or another.

Probably because they are selling something that costs  $0.50 to make for 15 bucks

I mean if it means I don't have to wear the flower pattern ones that my wife got from her friend I don't see a problem.

Miles ahead so like a 5 sack a year guy compared to a 3 sack a year guy.

Getting the Saints when it's colder is a plus.

Back to back weeks against packers in GB then saints at home. I’m guessing last 3 weeks is divisional games.

There's a lot of stats that show that teams on 3 consecutive road games are at a huge disadvantage.

Of course, we had to do that last year.

Ah, I see.  Is that different than a jersey that costs $10 to make and sells for $250?

Or a pair a sneakers that cost $3 to make and sell for $150?

Just sayin’

they aren’t capitalizing on a pandemic to make money on jerseys. At least if you are going to charge that donate a portion to Covid 19 relief

Are they produced solely because of a global health emergency?   Give me a break with that comparison.

That part I tend to agree with.  That’s why I said I’m not sure how I feel about it.

They should indeed.  I’m surprised they’re not doing that, actually.

He’d pad $50 of it had Desean Jackson on it.

Or $100 if it had my mock draft listed on it.

;)

In all seriousness, if some of the proceeds went to charity, would you still be against it?

If you have NBC Sports Philadelphia, tonight at 10:30 they're airing 'Forever Philly, Nick Foles'. Most likely a re-run from a couple of years ago.
