Saints fans are becoming just as unbearable as Dallas fans to me. They are insufferable. The author of that story also tried to legitimize his point by bringing up that the Saints beat the Eagles twice in 2018. A totally different year and team.

Might be a hot take but Saints fans are worse. Dallas fans at least cling to history, Saints fans cling to what ifs.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Ooh controversial... I mean I can see your point and I think there is absolutely a valid argument there. But Dallas fans are the worst just because they are Dallas fans. That's an undeniable unarguable point.

I can get on board with that for sure! :-) Well played.

So you mean that he won't be average, right?

Banner's issues were never about his ability to bring a cold, logical explanation to a situation.  It was that he only could bring a cold, logical explanation to a situation.   If there's something that he can explain from an actuarial table, then he's going to be great.  If he is asked to discuss when a player over 30 should be brought back or not, his answer will be based on the actuarial table.  Dawkins shouldn't have been let go so unceremoniously.  But, Banner in his cold accountant way, set a price and a length and wouldn't come off of that.  Dawkins should have had a little more give and take, back and forth.   It wasn't the wrong move to not sign Dawkins for 3 years.  It was the wrong move to let him leave after 2008, especially given the massive amount of change that came to the defensive side of the ball with the death of Jim Johnson.  Having Dawkins around would have helped the transition to Sean McDermott, which might have saved us all the agony of Jim Washburn and Juan Castillo moving to DC.

Banner’s biggest mistake ...

I saw this posted from Geoff Schwartz and thought it was good. He ends up breaking down film from an Eagles play.

Mine too.  But its funny to see in the old footage.   And he was as big as anyone on the field, might have even been bigger than some of, if not all of, the lineman as well.

I also consider Joe Gibbs to be an all-time great head coach and he’d be several notches above Bill Parcells on any all-time list IMO.  I’ve always viewed Gibbs as underrated and Parcells as overrated.

3 Super Bowl wins, with 3 different QBs.  No one has even approached that.

That was good, and if I remember correctly, at the time, people were dogging Dillard for 'turning his man free'.

I'm rewatching the NFC-CG game from 2017... Maybe the Saints fans have some merit to their statement.  I mean, the Vikings went right down the field on the first drive for a TD...  quick 7-0.

Oh wait... next possession... pick 6.  7-7

Now a 3 and out by Minny...

and then TD by the Eagles' O.  Eagles up 14-7.

Well, it's still early, the Vikings could answer back.

No flaming, just a different point of view.

As stated earlier, the draft capital involved in getting Wentz impacts to overall haul over the past four years.  (I am throwing out the Chip era, because those folks were picked for schemes that no longer exist here.)

I also believe that the conversation here focuses mostly on the misses, and the misses are legit.  The volume of Pump, Sidney, and JJAW posts far outweigh the post about picks gone right.  I just don't think the good gets enough consideration.

Getting the franchise QB pick right is huge.  Look at the Bears, Jags, Browns, etc., who haven't gotten it right for years.  And the jury is still out on a bunch drafted in the past couple seasons.  That should considerably balance the scales.

All that being said, the Eagles have been IMO net average.  Remember, misses will always be part of the process and that needs to be factored into any conclusion.

What teams have consistently drafted well and what have they accomplished ? Asking for a friend

Mathis was solid but unless this is 14th best LG for the decade I can’t take it serious. He’s not the 14th best olineman, sure as hell isnt the 14th best player.

Oh man... Vikings are driving... looking to tie it up.  Saints fans might have a point.

Yeah he was big, I'm sure that played a big part in him being a HOFer .

NVM.... Strip sack by the Eagles.  Followed by a TD drive going the other way.  Eagles up 21-7 before halftime.  Eagles get the ball to start the second half.  That's a potential back breaker.  Dome teams don't fare well in outdoor Championship games.  0-12.

Nah he already went in the 40s (ahead of Cox somehow). They also love Brooks and haven't seen him there yet though.

I read something from Otto Graham and a few others that actually say that he was better than Jim Brown.  They went so far as to say that he might have been the greatest all-around player in the history of the league.   He was apparently a helluva LB as well as a FB, and Graham was very impressed with his ability to block, versus Brown, whom he didn't seem to think was much of a blocker.

Just over a minute left in the first half.  Vikings need to answer with at least a FG here to have a chance in the second half.

2 hours ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

I didn’t say that.  I think an AVG starter is the most likely outcome.

okay fair enough

Eagles somehow got the ball back in the first half with only 29 seconds left... ball on their own 20.

Bing, Bam, Boom... and they went right down the field to set up a FG.  24-7 at the half.  Eagles get the ball to start the second half.  If the Eagles score after halftime on that opening possession, the rout is on.   Looks pretty bad for the Vikings.   I think Saints fans might be full of crap.  Eagles were a machine in this game.  Straight up buzz saw.  And the only reason the Eagles didn't score a TD on this final drive before half is because they ran out of time.  They went over 60 yards on 3 plays in those 25 seconds.  And.... they still had 2 timeouts in their back pocket that they didn't need to use, because two of the three plays were along the sidelines.

Saints fans are delusional.
