Had the raiders faced any team other than the bucs who had their playbook the raiders win the super bowl.

Calahan not changing any of the calls from gruden was pretty moronic.

No, the Eagles would have beaten the Raiders also.  The Eagles and Bucs were clearly the two best teams in 2002.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

No disrespect to Motley, but no, just no.

I didn't see either of them play so my opinion doesn't mean much, how about you, did you see them play?

Good to know, and I'm sure that the saints would rather face him than Carson Wentz and that's what they got and blew it.

It would have been Foles

I was a small child when Motley was playing so all I've seen of him was film; I saw a lot of Jim Brown's games, both at Syracuse and with the Browns.

@Iggles_Phan I would expect Otto Graham to plug Motley, as he played with him  and not with Brown. OTOH, Dr. Z is a football historian I hold in the highest regard, so I would respect his opinion more than mine, if I were you.

Wait, we changed our jersey numerals and letter font? You're damn right I've been waiting for that! I do like the bold italic numerals, but the letter font is way too skinny and would be dated looking in a decade or two as everything had a tall narrow sans serif font in the 10s.

(yes I know it was jsut a number announcement and wasn't really a uniform change but I've never been a fan of our current numbers/letters)

Interesting... I thought Graham straddled both their careers.

The money they saved cutting the old board is getting put to good use

Everything matters.  Like the very last play of a playoff game.  In order to win, sometimes you have to make the tackle.

Yes, they forgot that. They also forgot that no matter how much you whine you can't change the fact that you blew your chance to advance and they don't hand out trophies to you because you think you would have beat the team that won the superbowl.

I don't doubt that he was better than Brown, he surely was bigger.  That's why it cracks me up when some one this site ridicule those who speak of a big back, give me a big back with running ability over a smaller speedy open field runner any day.

Needless to say you want both types on your squad but the big back will keep the chains moving and by midway through the 3rd quarter you'll have defenders avoiding him, it's a damn shame the Eagles didn't get a shot a Dillion from BC, not that it would have mattered, I'm sure know-nothing Howie would have passed on him.

Howie has been fairly good at getting RB talent through the draft.  I'm not sure Dillon is going to be much more than a Toby Gerhart or Chris Polk.  I would rather they pick up Carlos Hyde.

The exception to that is Central Florida University.  They finished their season undefeated a few years ago and crowned themselves national champs.  To be fair, no one beat them, and they never got the chance to prove it on the field.  The Saints had their chance, and blew it.

I'm pretty sure he didn't. One further thought about Motley: his pro career started late because he was in the military in WWII. He was 26. The Browns were the first team to integrate and Motley was one of two black players in 1946 - a year before Jackie Robinson broke the color line in baseball.

You are correct on both counts.

Graham's career ended in 1955.  Brown started in 1957.   At least I was close.  lol   (If you reverse those years, then they would have played together 3 seasons!)

Minus McCown, Peters, Sproles and Jenkins.  All it took.

Eagles somehow got the ball back in the first half with only 29 seconds left... ball on their own 20.

Bing, Bam, Boom... and they went right down the field to set up a FG.  24-7 at the half.  Eagles get the ball to start the second half.  If the Eagles score after halftime on that opening possession, the rout is on.   Looks pretty bad for the Vikings.   I think Saints fans might be full of crap.  Eagles were a machine in this game.  Straight up buzz saw.  And the only reason the Eagles didn't score a TD on this final drive before half is because they ran out of time.  They went over 60 yards on 3 plays in those 25 seconds.  And.... they still had 2 timeouts in their back pocket that they didn't need to use, because two of the three plays were along the sidelines.

Saints fans are delusional.

Nobody was beating the Eagles that year.

NOBODY.

that team had a mental toughness and an ability to overcome adversity that was unparalleled in the NFL.

"BS PI call on the defense? No prob. We’ll force a turnover on the next play.”

”BS holding call to make it 3rd and 18? No prob. Carson will convert it.”

”starting cb we just traded for got hurt and is out for a month? No prob  our backups can make plays.”

”Starting LT got hurt? No prob. Backup LT will hold it down.”

”MVP-caliber QB got hurt? Sucks. But our backup can handle it and the rest of the team will pick up the slack.”

and god forbid the offense got a rhythm early or the defense forced a couple turnovers. Then, the game would be over about midway through the 3rd qtr.

nobody was beating that team that year. F anybody who thinks/says otherwise .
