I excluded both Rivera AND McCarthy because they're experienced hires and simply not in the same situation. Hiring both of those coaches made perfect sense for both teams. The Rooney Rule is about opportunity. So a coach like Rivera will get jobs, because he succeeded in his only coaching job.

As for Pederson, that hire was absolutely crushed at the time. It worked out, but he wasn't our first choice (McAdoo). We got lucky.

There is no perfect system. However, doing nothing is not a solution either.

Great, what's the plan for making players equal, I mean there sure is a higher concentration of players of color than the average of the population of America.

Does racism exist in drafting?

Teams pick who the feel is the best player, coach,GM's. It's not about color, so let's not make it about color. Continuing to make things about color either way only leads to more hatred and racism . I don't care what color any of the players, coaches, owners, GM's are on the Eagles just win another damn Super Bowl.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Duce got demoted this past hiring season. He was responsible for backfield motion and sucked at it. Result? Scangarello.  Duce is a heck of a RB coach with Stout’s help in the running game.  I haven’t seen anything to suggest he is OC material.

Which is interesting because he probably will be a very good head coach someday. Just not quite the coordinator yet (if ever). Funny how that works.

100% agree with you but the problem with not only the NFL and the Rooney Rule but society in general is that people look to find racism in everything.  It's pathetic.  We have these SJW's who dig and dig and dig to try to find something.  People WANT to find racism so they can cry out racist!

Racism and catching crabs with chicken necks.  This NFL season better happen.

You have something to add to the conversation, or is your role here just to tally up the comments by others?

It's May.  In a typical offseason we'd have short snippets from a rookie mini-camp or OTA to try to dissect, but is really a meaningless but of noise, because you can't tell anything from those, really.

You're assuming that Troy had nothing to do with the new proposal. But I agree the new proposal stinks.

Way I look at it, we drafted a quasi Dawk this year, who will one day replace Howie in Wallace and if Troy isn’t the next Commissioner, maybe he will be.

Ah. For some reason "Chesapeake bay" blue crabs are more expensive than LA or NC Blue Crabs. Tastes the same to me.

Bushel of 1's here on the bay last week were 250. Lol

Have the NFL done their research on FO posts for minorities?  However much they want it to change now, sustainable/organic change takes time to arrive.  The thing is, there are relatively few jobs at the top of the pile in the NFL and lot of very intelligent and ambitious people looking to get them. It's hard to play politics without potentially diluting your product.

The NFL should be funding college scholarships for minorities interested in FO roles and provide a pathway for them to get there after they have graduated with a certain qualification level - and do this if you've played the game or not.  It won't have the same PR value, but if they are truly serious, it will provide the NFL with a sustainable process and provide an opportunity.

Yes, there are people who look for problems that aren't there. No reasonable person would dispute that. However, there is ample evidence of discrimination throughout NFL to not dismiss it out of hand.

Despite all of that, the proposed NFL minority draft pick compensation rule is still really dumb.

Good article by Jimmy regarding the Eagles 30+ players.  If they make the playoffs, 12 players will be 30+ and we still could see JP and other vets added.  Reloading the pipeline of young players is imperative.  Another reason Hurts was such a poor use of a draft pick.  Using that 2nd on a guy who could replace BG, Kelce or a corner would have been huge.

So tired of this bs argument

Reading one of the 2017 books and saw a picture of Nick. Is it me or is he the first true Eagles superhero we’ve had in generations?

Players like Dawkins and Reggie White were better players but I think I truly see Nick as a superhero. Tons of joy and happiness just seeing him. I don’t think that will ever change.

At DE, the team seems to have found a pretty good player in Sweat, and I think Graham plays three or four more years in a limited capacity. Seumalo is going to be the center of the future, and the team has a bunch of candidates on the roster already to play LG. So I am not sure they needed to grab a guy at either of those positions in this draft.

Corner, to me, has been a Schwartz problem. He has just made mistake after mistake. For one, we often play a single high safety, even with Douglas and Mills on the field, who both need deep help. For another, Darby was his guy, and he was a terrible pickup, and was even worse last year when we brought him back. He also doesn't match up corners against receivers, so Maddox ends up covering tall guys and Douglas ends up covering fast guys, which makes no sense.

Now, with Slay shadowing the other team's top player, he can better match up against the other receivers. Plus, he moved Mills to safety, which is where he always belonged.

As far as the Hurts pick, if he turns into a top 15 qb in the league, it was a great pick. If he doesn't, it was a waste. But the team thinks he can be that type of player, so I can't fault them for taking him.

I don't want to start another Hurts argument but how in the world is he going to become a top 15 QB in the league when we already have a top 5-8 QB on our team?

Who says he will become an elite QB here?

How's that knee, Teddy?

I understand that he can be traded.  No one is going to trade a 1 for Hurts no matter how desperate they are.  Sammy Sleeves had experience at least.  At best they might break even and get a 2 back for Hurts down the road.  If he then becomes elite we are supposed to feel good about that?  No thank you.

This is some point of view.  Some people don't want to acknowledge it at all, and when its so obvious it just can't be ignored, they diminish its potency and impact so they can cry out there's no racism!  That is heartbreakingly pathetic

I've added plenty to the conversations, but I'm sorry if it doesn't abide by your laws.  I've been a member of this board since '03 and for some reason never clicked into the blog until the last few years.  You were obviously not the reason.

Cool story.  I've also been around the old board since '03.  Do you want a cookie?

Well, this is how it goes around here.  Some people like it, others don't.  Engage in the conversation that's going on, or start a new topic.  Complaining about what's being discussed is kind of pointless, especially in the offseason.

Sorry I didn't abide by the rules.  I understand exactly how it goes on around here.  I mistakenly posted a comment that I thought was funny, and I unfortunately offended you and I'm sure a couple others because of your sensitivity.  So take that.....................
