What's the difference? Not that impressive.

At least it includes guys that see the field.   We know the team needs young talent, nothing has changed.  Does Reagor make the list or not?

Point is... putting the names down doesn't add anything to what we've already known about this team... which is why it was important to say goodbye to Malcolm Jenkins, but bring in Will Parks.  Or, move on from Peters to Dillard. Or, move on from Bradham.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

What with the talk of Sherman and now Grant, my view is that the two were the best combination of commanders in the war, better than Lee and Jackson, or Lee and Longstreet, or anyone else in the Confederacy. Once the two linked up they won every battle, every campaign. There was no rivalry between them and when Grant came East, Sherman was every bit as good in the West. Sherman famously said, "He stood by me when I was crazy and I stood by him when he was drunk, and now we stand by each other."

Young talent is also less valuable when the aging curve keeps increasing. This mattered more 10+ years ago.

I expect to see more Cover 1 and less Cover 3 with Slay playing.  They have three outside CBs that are best in Man, Slay, Jones and Williams.  Maddox can bite on double moves but plays well in Man. So does NRC and LeBlanc. I think with our SSs potentially interchangeable with our Dime LBs, we can move to more Cover 1.  I wonder if in Cover 1, Schwartz has the CB follow the WR more but not completely.  Shadowing one WR makes it easier to diagnose the D

True, but it also allows the defense an extra player because that shadow needs no help.

What I like best is how much faster our secondary is now. Even Mills, who was slow at corner, is plenty fast enough for box safety. He'll give a lot of TEs problems.

Just read a stat that Jim Johnson’s defense lead the NFL in sacks (Tied for 1st) during his tenure here.   It would be nice to see our current sack totals increase.

With the new additions to the secondary and a healthy D-Line, I would think Schwartz will be more willing to pull the trigger on a more aggressive defense.  Thoughts?

It’s not that I’m against blitzing, but it’s much harder to get impact plays out of it than it was even 15 years ago during Johnson’s tenure.  Most good NFL QBs now want the defense to send extra guys; it opens up the short passing game even more.  You don’t see Brees or Rodgers get snowed under by a zero blitz.  They get the ball out long before the blitz arrives.

A strong DL rotation that’s 7-8 deep so you can get consistent pressure with 4 guys is the best formula in today’s NFL

We'll see what happens. I'm kind of expecting them to just micro-manage every little thing. I know they are hurting for content right now but I would think their goal would be to have the season go on with or without fans at all costs. Limit as much as you can to limit the possibility of an outbreak among the players. Canceling games or weeks would be their biggest hit in revenue, so protect that as much as you can.

Oh yea.  The #1 priority for owners and the league is TV revenue this fall.  Which is why they have not pared down the preseason schedule yet, and probably won't.

And as for an outbreak, I personally do not think it's an 'if', but a 'when'.  They're not gonna quarantine themselves all season.  Travel.  Hotels. Etc.  Not with how we already see cases increasing in states with people running around without masks.  By September we might worse off then we are now.

What happens with the NHL and NBA (if they figure something out) this summer will be huge factors in what the NFL can rationally expect.

Worst news of the day

Sounds like they are expanding the IR designated to return number from 2 to 3 players for the season.

Buccs saying they have not given any offer to Freeman.

I dont think bucs did, rojo 2nd rd pick 2 years ago...keyshawn Vaughn drafted this year...only way he lands in Tampa is on the cheap , not because bucs outbid other teams.

His book is fantastic. It is well worth the read.

Agreed.  Rookies will take up over half that list come opening kickoff.

Yes they will.

Sucks. One of the more recent rule changes that would actually make the game more exciting.

Cutoff date for OTA's and Minicamps are June 26th per CBA, and the NFLPA president said they won't be going past that date. Sounds like its likely nothing on site until TC

Without a running start for the coverage team on kickoffs, the 10-yard bouncing kick or lofted kick is almost unrecoverable.  Without the 4th-and-15 alternative teams will logically aim the kick into a ‘no-man’s-land’ about 20 yards out and try to recover it there — which could result in more violent collisions.

The 16 that voted against the rule change are undoubtedly teams with bottom of the league QB's.

I mean Grant did have Cold Harbor but of course Lee had Pickett's charge.

"certain objective info"....

Sounds a bit ambiguous.

The dumbest part of this whole thing is for a couple years now, every network has an ex-official sitting in the broadcast booth, basically doing the job the "Sky Cam" official would, except instead of telling the head Ref, he's talking to the announcers.
