my bad, I’m 12

You're not alone no worries. I worded it specifically so it was less likely to end up in the "posts about your mom" thread in WU.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

IIRC he would throw up gang signs which didn't help his "I'm not in a gang" defense

I'll admit I was not a fan of his vengfulness to go to Skins and then his comment when he was with the Bucs

I'm glad he's definitely matured

Hopefully he's still got some left in the tank after the surgery and being another year older

Gang signs  is that you Chip?

I didn't begrudge him going to Washington.  He didn't force his way out of Philly.  This was Chip being an idiot.  I just knew that every time he played the Eagles he was going to kill the team.

If I cared enough to take the time and if the old boards didn't close I'd show posts but alas no

Meh

All the talk about Randall and Vick, man the Eagles sure have had some athletic enigmas at quarterback.  Were they just who they were and not good enough or with different weapons, coaching and healthy bodies could they have been all-timers?

Either way, we have had some of the most fun, exciting, athletically gifted quarterbacks to watch here as frustrating as it was and as much as it sucks none of them won a ring.

I think Vick admitted that he wasn't as studious in his youth as he should have been. He had the arm and speed. Durability and QB intelligence was his weakness

Randall was ahead of his time IMO

Randall without a doubt was ahead of his time but the coaching for him was abysmal.  He also was too focused on being a celebrity while he was here.  All that ability he had and Rodney Peete took a job from him.  That's saying something.  If Randall on the Eagles had the maturity of Randall on the Vikings we'd probably have a whole different Eagles history.

With all the DJacc nostalgia, didn't he request a bigger contract after just getting a new deal?

That was a far bigger issue I've not seen anyone mention yet, so maybe I'm mistaken?

DJacc didn't do himself any favors either with some of the nonsense he pulled.

Giving up on a ball in Minnesota and then chewing the coaches out about it IIRC, etc.

I don't remember that, I just remember him tweeting that Chip and him had just talked and he was going to be an eagle and then the news came out that he had been cut.

CHIP WAS SUCH A FREAKING IDIOT

There was tension about his contract. He had signed a new 5 year deal in 2012.   On the other hand, it wasn't like he was threatening to hold out.  I think it was going to be a question going into the season about whether another record season would warrant a better deal.  He definitely had some tension with some of the coaches.  In retrospect, he wasn't the only player that thought Chip wasn't good.

Randall was on his way but the loss of Doug Scovill was hard on him and he never developed into the QB it appeared he would be. I really believe that if either Cunningham or Vick had a coach like Andy Reid for their entire career they would both be HOFers.

Watching Vick develop as a quarterback and human as an Eagle will always be one of my favorite Eagle memories.  I wish he could have had more success here but man what a wild ride that was and I'm happy for him as a human that he could turn things around.  I truly think he realized the wrongdoing he committed and is sincere in what advocates for now.

Ok, thank you.

Still, you just signed a new deal and a year later there is "tension" abiut the contract he played 1 season on?

That's kind of what I'm getting at as THAT is ridiculous with or without Chip involved.

That's what I remembered the most because that aspect is what pissed me off the most.

It was TO all over again, IMO.

TO wanting money on his contract he was guaranteed in a roster bonus anyway, but he and his agent wanted salary to be tops in the NFL.

Dabo is such an unlikable coach. He really doesn't care about anything other than himself.

I can’t stand him. He’s such a whacko narcissist. But that’s how I feel about most college coaches

Yup. He pops off about not paying players because there’s enough entitlement in the world. Then he goes home to his $4M house. He’s a joke.

Also may never play again.

It's infuriating. The hypocrisy gets me.

Saban is up-front about who he is. He's about work ethic and winning. He won't be nice, but you'll be successful. If that's not for you, fine.

@Giddyunc The more I read of The Coddling of the American Mind the better it gets.

Going to give this one a try too. My Arguing about Slavery arrived today but so did my Smithsonian so I am currently reading the latter.

Cunningham never even studied film when he was in Philly; he was all he was ever capable of being.  I cheered very hard for the 14-2 Falcons against the 15-1 Vikings in the playoffs.

I felt glad for Reggie White when he won a Super Bowl — even in GB — because he was the best player and leader he could have been in Philly.  Cunningham frankly never put in the effort.
