If you're referring to the fat I agree, calories aren't bad for a sauce.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Don’t you make any of your own sauces.  Garlic Parmesan is so easy to make and you don’t get any of the added preservatives, sodium (my crisp wings have enough of that) or sugars.

Well, that is a problem.

I make my own. My barbecue sauce is brown sugar, sambal, soy sauce, and a few seasonings that vary, like star anise, 5-spice powder, garlic, ginger, etc. Whatever I'm in the mood for. For wings I'll dust them with baking powder to crisp them up and add the sauce when they're half done. I don't deep-fry anything except tonkatsu.

I'm not crazy about garlic parmesan sauce for wings but it's great on roasted cauliflower. Add a little cumin.

Wings aren't health food, boys.  If you are going to eat them, then eat them and enjoy it.  Don't worry about the fat.  If you are worried about fat... skip the wings and just eat skinless breast meat.   Everything in moderation.

Are you sure? I feel better when I eat them. Unadulterated skinless breast meat tastes like cardboard. I slather on some salsa verde. Now we're talking.

Brine em first.  It's not gonna make em taste like deep fried wings but it's a lot better.

Has anyone been to Saginaw Spirit down in Baltimore?  They make a really good BBQ sauce.  Has some kick to it.  Really cool place as the UA footprint grows.

I hear ya.  Health conscious folks don't seem to worry all that much about flavor though... Kale chips, rice cakes, etc.... none of that qualifies as 'tasty'.   Tasty food can be healthy, but generally speaking when food is resented as 'health food', flavor takes a major back seat.

I eat what tastes good.  Some of it is healthy, some of it is not.  And worrying about the health ramifications of the very very tasty, non-healthy food takes all the joy out of eating it.

I had a liberating morning.  I unfollowed all of my friends on FB, only following groups or interest now (history, cooking, aviation and such).  Has severely cut down on the amount of stress I was causing myself in reading everyone's take on the current issues.  Twitter is next, not sure how to do it so I can still get the news that I want.

One thing I just can't for the life of me get in to as a "healthy snack" are chick peas.  Even getting flavored ones doesn't help.  They are so insanely dry to me.  I don't like hummus either so it's a food I just can't get on board with.

Sounds great.  The only sauce I tend to buy is for vinegar based BBQ. My experience is that is harder to replicate and you can find a lot of unique recipes from some smaller BBQ places in this area.

I hear ya. I felt the same way... and then one day I went to a Turkish restaurant with a friend... got the hummus as a shared appetizer.   The difference between that and the stuff you get in a grocery store is like night and day.   Turns out if you make it yourself, it can be quite enjoyable.  But, that's not a surprise... most things are made best by those who invented it.

Ultimately, I now truly enjoy hummus... made by me.  I talked to a Greek chef (or more exactly, I talked to him through his teenage daughter who was in my class).  He told me that hummus is something that EVERY family has their own version of.  Its basically 5 ingredients - Chick peas, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice and tahini... plus salt.   The proportions change family to family, the add-ins are different for families as well...   I pressed him on his recipe... and he just told me that I had to find it myself.   Just play with those ingredients until I was happy with it... and then enjoy.  So simple and yet so profound.  I never measure when I make it... I just mix and taste... It's awesome, and it's the best dip that baby carrots and celery ever had.

Some people just have zero clue.  I used to work in food distribution.  I was a produce sales specialist.  As a former chef, I would go around and help the sales reps of (sysco and usfoods) grow their produce sales.  Pretty stressful job.  Being tasked to grow sales of a very perishable category.  But the best part that job was having the privilege to go around to restaurants and see what and how people are doing things and also counseling them on which items to buy and etc...  I remember one time, I was at this restaurant outside of Pittsburgh.  They were using romaine lettuce on their burgers. Which sometimes can be too crunchy and cause the burger not to lay flat.  And the romaine markets can be rather volatile depending on which growing region.....(I know, it's riveting stuff)  I suggested an item that was a cross between iceberg/green leaf which was made specifically for burgers.  The owner's response was, "well isn't romaine healthier than iceberg, doesn't it have more nutritional value".  I said, "yes you're right, but respectively........................it's a burger".....

If I'm eating wings I don't care at all.  However, I use sauces on chicken when I grill and such and that's when I do pay attention.

Not sure if you like Indian food or not, but one of my favorite sides is chana masala.  That would disqualify chick peas as a "healthy snack," but it's insanely flavorful.

Drew Brees is such a bad person. From this to his homophobic stances, it's all bad.

On the bright side, this is likely his last year.

Hes right about thre flag though.

Brees knows what  he is doing, he's a future Senator in the making and is setting the ground for that.

I'm not into most "name brands" when it comes to any types of BBQ sauce, but I really enjoy George's vinegar based sauce on my bbq/chopped pork.  If I'm not using George's, I have collected a bunch of different sauces from all the BBQ restaurants in NC that have proven to be awesome (Midwood Smokehouse, Old Tyme in Raleigh, Lexington BBQ)

I don't know what his homophobic stances are but regarding this video and his reasoning I agree 100%.  Disagreeing with someone doing something doesn't make you a bad person.  His reason is the exact reason why I don't agree with using the flag and National Anthem as the stage.  My 2 grandfathers as well were WW2 veterans.  As a matter of fact my one grandfather who was in the 101st, jumped on D-Day and helped liberate NSDAP concentration camps always told my family that during the Battle of the Bulge while he was in his foxhole with a tiger tank on top of him (they would turn sharp on foxholes to kill US soldiers) that he said a prayer and that if he got home to the United States he would fly the flag high every day.  He did just that until the day he died.  Flags flew at his house every day and he lined his sidewalk even when cancer was eating away at him.  It was the most important thing to him.  So for some people the flag is the ultimate symbol of sacrifice and to take that time where we pay respects to ALL who served no matter what their race, yes I don't agree with that.
