Our safeties are suspect with the loss of Jenkins and how Mills hasn't started there before.  Plus the fact we have had to keep one in the box is a major reason why we got torched for air yards last year.

The scheme can be adapted to the talent.  A three down sideline to sideline stud LB who can blitz and cover would be a major upgrade.

An upgrade at any position on the field would help.  Ignoring the WR need for a second, I'd still take an upgrade at DE, x2, before I'd consider investing in a blue-chip 3 down LB.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I knew there was some kind of connection.  Thanks.  Panthers, huh?  Eh, not currently worried about it.

Bridgewater is a good backup. He’s a Case Keenum imo.

How has the WR position worked out for us in each of the last 2 years?  Duce Staley had 1,500 yards of offense as a 2nd year player in 1998.

There is no comparison between the current WR need and the RB need in 1999.

How has reaching for need in the draft worked out for us over the years?  Like last year with JJAW, sure glad we forced a pick at WR since it was such a big need.

Since its guaranteed that if we draft a WR at #21 he will be a game changing Pro Bowler, than I suppose we must take a WR at #21!  Any WR will do.

Didn't say that. But your odds of that happening are much better

And I'm of the camp that is willing to do whatever it takes to get one of the top 3 WRs

1st round nightmare pick: WR Jalen Reagor

Reach for need unless we trade back from #21.

Dude how many times did we see freakin Jalen Mills left on an island??? He finally got moved inside so maybe Schwartz is going to change. We’ll see .

For sure.  People are so fixated on drafting a WR.  You can always swing a trade for one later on.  Like when we traded for Donte Stallworth in 2006.

This obsession for a WR is reminding me of the obsession for Ricky Williams back in 1999.

I guess maybe a tad. It is hard to look around the league at all the young Qb's who have great recievers and feel good for Wentz.

Alshon might be a snitch and it isn't 100% that he comes back healthy. Desean is old and always hurt. Agholor is gone now

We have Ward and Jjaw. I mean. Come on man. That is ridiculous.  No consistency. Worst core in the league.

I don't want to see Wentz have another season like the last. JJaw was running into his own guys. Ward looked like an all pro to the fans because of the situation. The drama in the locker room.

A solid foundation needs to be built for Wentz.

Anyone ever watch A2D Radio on youtube? Searched Eagles mock draft and these guys came up. Wow, is all I can say.

I'm not denying any of that.  Somehow wanting to not reach for a WR at #21 if the value isn't there has become an extreme opinion among the fanbase.  It's amazing.

Quick, if you're into CBT, tune into ESPN.

Cognitive behavioral therapy?

Again, I am in favor of 2 WRs, 1 LB, 1 S through the first 4 picks in no particular order,  and I am good. As long as there is no reaches. My preference is WR, LB,WR,S!

Your palate is far more refined than mine. I struggle to learn but when someone whispers Sauvignon blanc or Sancerre, I’m cooked. My wife cannot handle wines with a lot of tannin so I adjust. I used to go to Moore Brothers regularly on Saturdays for the tastings and Greg Moore’s musings. Not possible now, of course. I have some reds I like, pretty much all from the Chianti area in Tuscany, especially the Corzano reds.

There are some decent local Sangiovese in the area. I think a couple of wineries down in Maryland in upper Baltimore County and Harford County, IIRC.  My favorite wine with Italian food. Like a good Tempranillo with Tex Mex when I don’t drink margaritas. Love pairing wine with food.  My wife and son, who love chocolate don’t believe me that dark chocolate was invented to eat with a Cab.

I remember when a basketed Chianti was a cheap affordable wine to drink with Italian food.  I blame Silence of the Lambs

The reason they need a WR is because they keep drafting garbage WRs.

Right now the starting WRs are...

Z - Jackson (will miss 3-6 games)

X - JJAW/Burnett

slot - Ward

You can’t do that to Wentz.

So who is everyone’s realistic nightmare pick for the first round? I’m going Yeuter Gross Matos

Kenneth Murray. Hasn’t shown he can actually cover, and drafting two down LBs in the first round is bad business.

I don’t think it’s anywhere near that. The priority needs to be getting wentz weapons, weapons that get open.

Exactly....unless the defense is only going to allow 10 points a game all year.

Reagor isn't being talked about as a 4th rounder, or a priority UDFA.  Neither is Mims, or Higgins, or Aiyuk/Shenault.

They will all almost def be gone before our 2nd rd pick.

You really worried about how it will look if we take a player 10-20 spots too high?  And that's pre-draft rankings.  You know it's not until well after a few years you can judge this.

Now, add into it the corner the Eagles have painted themselves at WR.

He’d be bittersweet for me. He underachieved at PSU but the upside is there to be a pro bowler. He’s got Carlos Dunlap/JPP upside. Just don’t always see the mental switch come on.

My number one red flag is motivation, and I think he takes too many plays off. There’s also nothing that really stands out as amazing, just has the potential to be. Last thing I want is to pair up a guy that’s needs good coaching to succeed with a guy whose never coached DE’s.

It would kinda blow if we have to wait 2+ hours to get to 21 and they end up trading the pick.

Never forget:Eagle_smiley:

Ehhh... in 99 we had no QB but had Duce ready and waiting.

Our WR position is truly awful. Like, truly awful. Alshon, coming off injuries, and he’s slow as hell. Desean, I love him, but at his age and size does he have another year left? After that what do we have? JJAW, who couldn’t get on the field even with all the injuries. And after that it’s UDFAs.

We need to bring in at least two guys with starting level upside because I’m honestly not sure if we have one starter on the roster. Maybe you can get away with drafting a guy in the 2nd/4th and then trading for an average vet or something like that, but realistically your best chance is in the first round.

So just a random thought...

I think this team as a whole will have some growing pains this year, on both sides of the ball. There will be a shortened offseason and teams probably won’t be able to get together until August with camp possibly not starting until Labor Day. That’s just my guess.

There’s going to be younger WRs expected to contribute, a new LT, and new play callers/leaders in the back 7 of the defense.

And that’s OK because when things are hopefully back to normal by 2021 there shouldn’t be as many question marks or growing pains.

To me, this is a year to get ready for 2021.

Yea he’s up there too. IF the world is really ending and hell has frozen enough for us to take a LB, I’d go Queen 10 times out of 10 over him.

Enjoyed this

Back in 2007 when they traded back for Kolb and the first 3 rounds were on Saturday... I think that pick was like 5 or 6 hours into the draft.
