Note the "I WANTED HIM TO STAND".

Why are you stopping at those words.

And I suggested him taking a knee instead of sitting even though I wanted him to stand, and he wanted to sit. And it was, like, this compromise that we sort of came to. And that's where the kneeling began.

But I thought kneeling was more respectful

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I’m not familiar. What did he do?

He was highly critical of how the NFL did the investigation and came out with some crap about how and why players don’t trust Roger Goodell.

Coming from the face of an organization that did nothing but stonewall, deny, evade and concoct stories in an attempt to bury the Bountygate investigation it struck me as rather ironic that he would talk about the trustworthiness of someone else

My garlic Parmesan. Is relatively simple. A stick of butter melted,  four minced garlic cloves or mashed crushed roasted garlic into a paste if you have the time, 3/4 of a cup of freshly  grated Parmesan, I like to chop some fresh parsley from the garden for a little color and I will play with spices like you so with your BBQ sauces, like red pepper flakes or oregano or cumin, sometimes some of my unsalted seasoned sauce, which is basically the spices in seasoned salt without the salt.  Even using my low sodium no aluminum baking powder to crisp bake my wings (also works on the grill), I find I don’t need to add salt to my wings sauces.
I don’t want to sound like I never use prepared sauces. I do.  I have a number I like.  My Giant sells a store made Carne Asada sauce I really like with shredded chicken.  Badia sells a good fajita marinade.  I like Guy Fieri’s barbecue sauces but I have a bunch I make myself. I will buy a good BBQ sauce at a joint if available.  Same with rubs.  But the commercial rubs go overboard on salt.  For sugars, I prefer dark brown, molasses and honey.
Question, how little soy sauce do you use?  I find soy sauce can over power.  How does the Sambal base compare with a Korean BBQ sauce?

I use a teaspoon of soy for every tablespoon of brown sugar, and I round the tablespoon, so I'm eyeballing. I use no other salt. Sambal is thinner and hotter than Korean BBQ sauce, if you're talking about gochujang, which my wife does not like. In order to keep peace in the valley I no longer use it. The vinegar in sambal makes it hotter, just as it does mustard. She also doesn't like honey on chicken. So, the proportions would be three parts brown sugar to one part soy and one part sambal.- then adjust according to taste. I use Pearl River Bridge Light Soy Sauce. The dark soy sauce definitely can overpower almost anything. I use that strictly for dipping.

Mincing garlic is SUCH a chore! ha.  Does minced in a jar count?

Absolutely NOT. Get a mortar and pestle.

I think Bountygate was more of a Sean Payton thing rather than a Drew Brees thing.  Players do what coaches ask.  I think we as Eagles fans all get a kick out of hearing about the bounties that Buddy had for his players on that defense.  It's also probably a league wide thing we just don't hear about.  The Saints just got blown up for it.

Not defending them by any means, just an observation.

Do we need a cooking and recipe thread started so we can save and pin recipes to the 1st page?  Is that too difficult?  I think there are a lot of guys in here who could share some great recipes but I couldn't for the life of me search this thread to find them.

THAT is what we need.  Thank you Dak.  Not celebrities bailing out "protesters".  Maybe the bailout trend will actually go towards innocent protesters in the wrong place at the wrong time but I have a feeling not.

I've seen a lot of fans of other teams suck it up and thank Carson for being a good dude.  Dak, you genuinely seem like a good man and I appreciate seeing what he is doing.  He has always seemed to do the right thing...outside of having a party when social distancing was cool

Bailing out protesters is different than bailing out rioters and looters.

That's what I implied in my post.  We don't know who is being bailed out and if they were protesters or looters.

I will assume protestors until proven otherwise.

I see no where in this quote from Kaepernick that suggests protesters.  I actually see the opposite.  People who retaliate.  I HOPE it goes towards actual protesters who were wrongfully arrested because we did see police abusing their power.  However, CK's attitude is not one I will ever agree with.  If you can show me where it says they are bailing out protesters I'd love to see it.

In fighting for liberation, there’s always retaliation,” Kaepernick tweeted. "We must protect our Freedom Fighters. We started a legal defense initiative to give legal representation to Freedom Fighters in Minneapolis paid for by @yourrightscamp"

Kaepernick’s fund will aid those who cant afford to hire legal representation, presumably offering an alternative to the Public Defender’s office. All fees will be paid for by the Know Your Rights Camp, which Kaepernick created.

I look on the food conversations as a welcome relief from some of the other conversations.

Because millions of people literally think a veteran told Kaepernick to kneel. And pepople have countlessly time and again said this to counter the argument that its disrespectful to veterans by bringing this guy up. Im pretty sure there are more quotes in the article where he actually does say that. And of course, his prefrence was for Kaepernick to stand. Because yes, he finds it disrespectful and that was the compromise he suggested.

same here, I'm guilty of getting off track in every conversation.

I thought you were talking about celebrities like Steve Carrell and other actors or singers.

I didn’t even think about Kaepernick, although he didn’t specifically say rioters and looters I would probably have the same conclusion as you.

Are you sure? I feel better when I eat them. Unadulterated skinless breast meat tastes like cardboard. I slather on some salsa verde. Now we're talking.

I use a lot of skinless breast meat but marinade it or sauce it or spice it.  I don’t tend to just eat it as opposed to use it as the meat in a dish.

Since I said I made my own earlier in this thread, then yes.  I do.  But not all the time.  Thanks for the nutritional breakdown, I was wondering what all of that was in the back label.

LOL.  Yeah.  And what I’m. It going to do is always make my own sauces.

Love the sarcasm.  Not meant as a lecture on nutrition as I am hardly the poster boy for that.  It’s just that garlic Parmesan takes maybe five minutes to make with ingredients I always have.

Hes right about thre flag though.

Kneeling during the anthem doesn't disrespect the flag or the country.   I think it respects and glorifies both.

Honest question cause I do not know the answer, but during the past week in this has kaepernick actually been out protesting? Cause i saw other athletes and Malcolm Jenkins out doing so. The reason I ask is I haven’t seen any pictures or videos.

Sounds great.  The only sauce I tend to buy is for vinegar based BBQ. My experience is that is harder to replicate and you can find a lot of unique recipes from some smaller BBQ places in this area.

I love me a good vinegar based BBQ sauce.  Unique to your area. I do cruise through occasionally.  Any recommendations?  I prefer that if it has mustard, it is a hint because mustard can overcome everything else.   Back about close to 25 years ago I was headed south to grab my family in TX.  I had go south on 95 just for a different route and went to cut over the mountains.  Reasonably sure I was between The cutoff for Johnson City and the road through Asheville in the Smokies.  Stopped at a BBQ place.  Had absolutely the best vinegar based sauce on some of the best slow roasted pork.  I would kill for that recipe or to just find that place once again.

I like to cook.  It's something I enjoy doing.  I would venture to say most of the discussions we have in here about food are started by me.  I usually don't follow recipes so won't share them in here.  I usually just rattled off ish.  I don't have a plan.  I’m like a dog chasing cars, I wouldn’t know what to do if I caught one, you know, I just do…things.

Props to whoever gets that reference.

I wanna say Tropic Thunder.  Probably wrong.  But I said it in the same voice as Downey Jr saying the line about "I'm just a scared little boy playing with his ...." and can't think about anything else now.
