Why is he talking specifically about what the flag means to him?

Hows that relevant to social justice with todays current climate???

Because he was asked the question by a journalist regarding the kneeling situation and he answered it.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I'm not into most "name brands" when it comes to any types of BBQ sauce, but I really enjoy George's vinegar based sauce on my bbq/chopped pork.  If I'm not using George's, I have collected a bunch of different sauces from all the BBQ restaurants in NC that have proven to be awesome (Midwood Smokehouse, Old Tyme in Raleigh, Lexington BBQ)

You show the original for George’s.  Have you tried the hot and the special (with jalapeño).  I see they have a gift set for $15 for the three and am tempted to try all three

School of Rock a "break out" role for him?

lol

I don't think that's an incorrect statement. At the time when it came out in 2003, it really was his breakthrough lead role in a movie. He had done other stuff like Orange County, High Fidelity, and other roles where he played minor, supporting characters.

and said, " i will never agree with someone kneeling and disrespecting the flag" seems a liitle more than just sharing his thoughts on the flag no?

I'd say the HBO run of Tenacious D was what put him in the popular spotlight.

I agree with the comp.

Agreed.  I didn't realize DJ Moore was only 6'.  My wife is a huge Panthers fan, and he was an explosive player this year despite a horrendous QB.  They figured out a way to get him the ball in space, and at that point, he either made guys miss or was able to break the first tackle every time.  He's very slippery, almost like Kamara when he escapes open field tackles.

I laughed.

Right now isnt the time for people with a lot of white privilege like Brees to be telling others how to act. He needs to sit down shut his pie hole.

I agree he should’ve just kept his mouth shut especially right now. It was going to do more harm in what he said then good.

That said i know what white privilege is as I’ve had it explained to me, read what it is in articles people have posted, I understand its realness and things I don’t have to deal with as a white man every single day that I take for granted That a person of color doesn’t have that luxury. I would never know what someone of color has to do deal with on an everyday basis. However part of the issue with the term white privileged is when it’s used inappropriately like trying to belittle someone for being white. This doesn’t happen all the time or even the majority but it does happen. It actually discouraged convos of progression and advancement when it’s used that particular way. Just wanted to put that out there

just pointing out there’s Christian privilege in the US. It never is brought up. Like i don’t think people understand some of the things Muslims and Jews go through that Christian/Christianity sects of people never really deal with (in terms of their religious beliefs—not racial). Like if you are a white Christian walk to church no one says a word to you about your religion or want to attack you cause of your religious beliefs. I walk to synagogue with a kippah on and get things thrown at me or antisemitic slurs or physical confrontations. So I’m forced to not wear it. Does it happen all the time? No but it happens more than people know about and makes me cautious to try to avoid making it known I’m Jewish. Muslim women walk around in their head garments and get called nasty slurs, or assaulted. But I’d never use Christian privilege in a demeaning way to make anyone feel like you’re lesser cause they have it (not you as in you did it but just in general).

If Drew Brees and Malcolm Jenkins can't peacefully co-exist in the Saints locker room, then our country cannot be saved, and we should all look to find a refuge nation to go to for asylum.

Agreeing and existing are different things.

If the common goal is winning a championship then I believe Jenkins and Brees are professional enough to set aside differences.

Dont know that ive seen that. Liked him in school of Rock of course which was kond of a break out role for him, hated him in king kong but thought he did well in that movie hes in with kate winslett, cant remember the name of it, its a romantic comedy which isnt really his forte, also like him in shallow hal, thought he does a good job in nacho libre but i think that movie blows monkey chunks.

One of the most underrated stupid funny movies.  So many people despise that movie, but most of them just need to remove the stick from their arse.

Kneeling and the anthem are synonymous with the flag. It doesn't need to be stated in the question to be made clear. If you're talking about kneeling for the anthem, you're also talking about the American flag by association.

I get it. Brees couldn't have picked a worse time to come out with a statement like this. If you say anything not remotely related to what's going on in this country now, you're labeled as a racist. I've seen people called out and vilified for saying something as rational as "What happened in Minneapolis was wrong and bad cops need to be brought to justice, but I don't think burning and looting cities solves anything."

There is only one statement the media, culture, and everyone is allowing people to have right now. And if you try to provide some rationale or personal beliefs, you will get crushed for it. I get it, but it's also kind of scary too. If someone feels different than you do or wants to bring up another issue for discussion, should we publicly shame them and cost them their livelihood? Or should we engage it and have a civil discussion?

Mincing garlic is SUCH a chore! ha.  Does minced in a jar count?

Won’t lie, I use minced in the jar on occasion but it is larger than minced.  Next time you are cooking something in the oven or grill that will take about an hour over lower heat, peel a head of garlic, grab some aluminum foil and a tablespoon of Olive Oil, I use light instead of EVOO for this, and stick in the oven or grill.  If grilling with wood smoke, vent the foil after about forty five minutes to get the smokiness wth the garlic.   Freezes well.  Pop in the microwave if you are using frozen for enough minutes to make soft and then mash with the back of a spoon.  (Or the mortal and pestle, I suppose.  JR keeps telling me to buy one.   My wife bought me a micro plane garlic mincer because I don’t like garlic presses.  It works well.  There is a mincer with a handle that I have considered.  I think I could:use with my bamboo herb slicer

So when I say exist, I mean in a personal manner and I was using a decent shot of hyperbole to boot. We already see on Facebook that families can't even seem to exist with disagreements like this because some of them are so personal, especially BLM because it goes to the core of the person and the feeling of disregard for who they are is visceral to black people, at least as far as the conversations I have had with PoC and in similar ways with the LGBTQ+ community. I think Jenkins will try and change his mind, but is also used to that type of view coming at him all the time. He'll be fine professionally, but they likely won't be friends. Brees inadvertently alienated 1/2 his team, they can still work together, but it's likely not going to be as close knit.

I haven't tried the other 2, but I would probably love both of them.  The spicier the better.  My wife can't really eat spicy foods or she'd reenact the Ben Stiller scene from Along Came Polly.  But she loves this original George's.

Brees will come out and apologize in the next 24-48 hours and retract what he said. He'll talk about how the timing wasn't right for his comment or that he is against unjustified police force. The public will shame him to give an apology for giving his personal opinion on a matter. That's how things work nowadays.

I use a teaspoon of soy for every tablespoon of brown sugar, and I round the tablespoon, so I'm eyeballing. I use no other salt. Sambal is thinner and hotter than Korean BBQ sauce, if you're talking about gochujang, which my wife does not like. In order to keep peace in the valley I no longer use it. The vinegar in sambal makes it hotter, just as it does mustard. She also doesn't like honey on chicken. So, the proportions would be three parts brown sugar to one part soy and one part sambal.- then adjust according to taste. I use Pearl River Bridge Light Soy Sauce. The dark soy sauce definitely can overpower almost anything. I use that strictly for dipping.

Thanks.  I will check out the light Soy Sauce.  Try molasses in place of hone and see how your wife likes that.  My mom had a recipe for oatmeal cookies with molasses that spoiled me from other oatmeal cookies. Moist and chewy and not hugely sweet like others.  When I backpacked I carried a bag of my mom’s oatmeal cookies for breakfast.  Two were like a bowl of oatmeal without needing to cook.  Molasses is a great sweetener.

Do we need a cooking and recipe thread started so we can save and pin recipes to the 1st page?  Is that too difficult?  I think there are a lot of guys in here who could share some great recipes but I couldn't for the life of me search this thread to find them.

Nope.  Alway been a subject.  At one point, I think it was MVP that posted his cured bacons.  Learned so much.

Yes, I've had oatmeal cookies made with molasses, maybe not as good as your mom's but, as you say, moist and chewy. I'll have to think on molasses. It's something I haven't used in years. As I think on it, I do like that it adds texture.
