Anyone have any good marinade recipes/mixes for chicken thighs or chicken breasts?  I can't grill red meat every single night, so I'm trying to add some chicken options.  I've got some breasts marinading in the fridge right now (all in a Ziploc gallon freezer bag) with a mix of vegetable oil, honey, lime juice, paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, and chili powder.

There was a discussion a few months ago about marinades and chicken. I took the position that marinades are pretty worthless with chicken and I still maintain that view. Dry rubs, on the other hand are the way to go. You get a crust on the chicken without having to deep fry it. That said, while I maintain marinades are worthless for chicken, basting the chicken while grilling does work, because the sauce bakes onto the meat. so, again, you're getting a crust. The bottom line is the marinade will not penetrate the chicken. To flavor the chicken, you must coat it with the flavoring in a way that it doesn't just slide off.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

What’s wrong with showing your friends and family that you care about black people? I can tell you that many of my black friends on social media have thanked people of all races for showing support during the past two weeks. They’ve also noted how many people they unfriended as well because "they showed who they really were.”

There's nothing wrong at all.  You have to look at it in context.  Some do it because they truly feel it.  There are others however that do it just for the credit and you can usually pick them out like a sore thumb.

I chose to go the other route.  I was sick of the bickering and back and forth that I unfollowed everyone.

Rumor going around is that there will be a march in hazleton, and expected riot and looting Friday and Saturday. Funny thing is we have like 0 african americans in Hazleton. The rumor is that they will be being bused in from NY and Philly.

This sounds fake to me. But its apparently credible enough that the police are taking it seriously, and national guard is on stand by.

This is just ridiculous.

That same rumor was spread about Indiana pa. nothing happened. Can you seriously imagine looters riding on a bus together and then loading up all their loot and heading back home from Philly?

White people are not crappy, neither is every other race.  You nailed it with we all have bad representation.  It doesn't make it fine to pile up on one race or the other.  The reality is that's what's going to happen.

No I'm never saying any race is crappy in general.  Just every race has bad people in it.

Most people in this entire world are good.  It's just the bad, violent, criminal ones that get most of the attention.

You kinda made it sound that way.  Just sayin....

Whites enslaved blacks for many, many years and we have to pay the price for that, eventhough most of us weren't even born yet.  So basically I'm being judged on something that happened years and years ago and that's ok.

Look, I'm sure you're a good dude and not trying to start any problems.   I just want equality but we'll never see it because a certain portion of every race will never get along.

No, it was just to make the point so you can understand where the distrust comes from. People are shouting and protesting not because they hate white people, but because they want to be treated like them.

Drive up churchs??? Like the chicken place or the worship place???

My wife and i had this conversation. Shes very involved with the student body at her place of work when it comes to social justice issues and id like to think i am socially proactive but when it came to protesting both of us were apprehensive as we didnt want to risk being exposed to covid and as much as we support peoples rights to peacefully protest i dont think its in the best interest if community health but i understand it. If people are willing to be tear gassed pepper sprayed and in the middle of violence to stand up and voice their displeasure with systemic racism and police brutality the covid is going to take a back seat, i mean cmon its not like theyre risking theyre health and others protesting not being able ti get a haircut😒

Did you see how his family lives when he was on QB1 on Netflix?  Southern, gun toting family.

Not defending his words but are private texts no longer private?  Did a friend rat him out?  Did his carrier turn it over?

And that's not too much to ask. I want everyone judged on their actions and not their color or whatever.

That statistic may also point out to a degree the impact of our gun culture and perhaps a focus on overall use of force by police.   I mean is pulling any sort of weapon appropriate on someone who runs a stop sign?

Im gonna take a Drew Brees moment to let you all know that I saw a video of the police trying to put Floyd in the car in cuffs, and he was very obviously resisting. They struggled for a while and in the entire video never got him in.

I am in no way saying he deserved this or defending those police. He was not violent or threatening at all.

But my god you have to be smarter and stop giving police a hard time. How many prior examples would he have needed of other black people being killed to save his own life and just take a seat in the back of the car? He could have been alive today.

What Id like to know from anyone with police experience is, so you cant get the guy in the car. So they put him on the ground and.... then what? The whole time the officer had the knee on him, what exactly were they waiting for? Is there a van with a big door that comes so its easier to throw him in or? what happens next? What was the plan?

Hey now, I'm a "gun toter". I sure as heck don't think only "white elites" should own guns. I don't even know what a "white elite" is but I'm pretty sure I'm not elite.

Yeah, someone outted him. The texts can be found on the link. One person asked her to remove the texts because the Bills are talking about cutting him. She said that’s not her fault.

Yea, I really don't see how Covid closures and protesting even relate at all. I haven't seen or heard one Governor say "get out there". And that's all besides the point its literally impossible to stop a mass of people from going outside in groups that size.

There were also protests to open things up, which the Governors took the same stance as these protests, but suddenly people have a problem with these protests.

Yes they did. The video shows he was put in the car on the driver side, some cops fumbling around with him, and then Chauvin pulling him out the passenger side where he put him on the ground.

Well, I do believe Wolf called the PA COVID protesters cowards. However he did say he supports these civil rights protests and even participated. Just days later....While he still has restrictions all over the state. So in a way, it makes no sense. However, its very obvious theres no way he could possible entertain the thought of speaking out against the idea of these protests right now. To say doing so is unsafe and not recommended would get him instantly labeled a racist.

Again, why do think this is? Could it be after so many years of slavery and oppression that some black people aren’t trusting of white people?

You treat people like crap for generations and then you wonder why they grow to distrust you after you were FORCED to stop.

if you are going to use that those arguments, just saying Egyptians, Spaniards, German, polish, basically all of Europe, Russia, the entire Middle East, even Muslims and Christians throughout Jewish history tried to exterminate jews, made us slaves and leave our homes with nothing (and those people knew what was going on and didn’t blink an eye about it outside of a small minority). And we got a piece of land people still hate us for and kill us for.

So am I justified not trusting them and allowed to justify my hatred towards them from bad treatment from their ancestors where they Very much benefitted? Cause that’s what your narrative is just applied to a different group of people who have been oppressed for centuries and still dealing with hate. All i know is I live my life with the people of the now. If i held everything against the people who wronged my people with their ancestors then I’d arguably trust very few and hate mostly everyone. And antisemitism still exists and growing articles in time and antisemitic remarks were made during the looting and rioting so it’s not as if it does happen today.

Heck we still have people who are holocaust deniers. That’s the equivalent to saying slavery in the US never existed

tbh i think jews and blacks have a lot of similarities of oppression and mistreatment and hate throughout their history

didnt look like he was ever fully in to me. Maybe we saw different videos (different angle or something). Either way, I really wonder what the next step was supposed to be for them with him on the ground. When were they ever planning on getting up?
