The veterans that actually fought in the last meaningful war are far and few between as most of them have died of old age.

War now is nothing more than an attempt to acquire and protect foreign economic corporate interests.

Want to show respect for vets? stop sending them to die for immoral imperial greed.

Want to show vets respect get them mental health care when they return home, provide them with housing healthcare and jobs with livable wages, saluting the flag with out any of the afore mentioned as tribute to vets is just a hollow gesture.

We can't do all that while at a footbal while the anthem plays... what we can do in that moment is stand.  Duh... stop being such a goofball .

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

People can be concerned with people not saluting the flag and voice that displeasure, is it helpful in the grand scheme.

If so how does the action of saluting a flag bring forth positive social change? If anything thing id say doing so reinforces the status quo.

Which is the point.😒

You don't stand to bring forth change. You stand to pay respect.  My lord you're a nincompoop!

Well, there goes the civil part

Don’t get me started on pickles. My dad loved them and cucumbers are prolific. He made Zucchini pickles too. He was always making pickles. His hot pickles were edible only to him.   I inherited all his recipes.  I am not much of a pickle eater because I am not a fan of cucumbers. You can pickle jalapeños and other peppers including roasted red peppers.

I was born and raised in 'hoagie' country.  You can't have a proper hoagie without pickled peppers... either sweet or hot.    I've put up my own pickles in the past when I had more time... this summer, we will be pickling a bunch.

Help, I am quickly becoming overwhelmed with zucchini and squash (from my 5 plants). I have been seasoning and grilling, mixing it into my regular meals (like with a pasta dish, or a sammie), and making casserole. But i have more popping up each day, IDEAS🙏

Zucchini lasagna.   This can be done as a casserole as a classic lasagna.  BUT, reduce the amount of liquid used in the recipe for the sauce... You'll also want to 'squeeze' out the moisture from the zucchini with a kitchen towel.  If you don't want a full lasagna, you can actually do individually rolled lasagnas.

Zucchini parmesan.  Just like it sounds.  Replace eggplant with zucchini.

Zucchini chips.

Zucchini pickles.

And don't restrict yourself to thinking savory.  You can use Zucchini in desserts too!

Zucchini Cobbler.   yes... trust me.  https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/zucchini-cobbler/

Zucchini can also be used in brownies, cakes and cookies.

Nothing better in the summer than a slice of zucchini bread and cream cheese for breakfast!

The rioting, looting and violence is what is taking away from the message.  I'll say no more on this matter, but I'll give the final word to this woman.

There's a reply to that tweet that's pretty good. Lots of celebrities have promised to bail out protestors. Would be nice to see them bail out businesses that have been looted or at least help

Really bummed to hear about TheAthletic layoffs. It's well worth the price of subscribing.

Not surprised. A sports news website subscription model in today's age is a terrible business model. Not enough people are going to pay for articles, especially when they can get the gist of it posted on websites such as this one or reddit.

If you guys are into cooking steaks and other meats, check this guy out.. he pretty much does it all from dry aging steaks for months to reverse searing, various grilling methods, etc..

The Wawa hoagie is not a traditional hoagie... but its not bad.   But, for a proper hoagie, you really need to go to the Mom and Pops.  Leo's Steak shop in Sharon Hill is great.   Jim's in Parkside is great.   La Spada's the original hoagie shop is also great.  The longest standing location is in Parkside (my dad worked there as a teenager).   The family even moved operations to South Florida, so you can get a 'proper' hoagie in FL.

Now I want a hoagie!

Good job, GOAT.

Well, that's what Im trying to figure out.

Especially with Schwartz stubbornness.

Looks like we will probably play a lot of fine and buckle, which seems to be where things are trending anyways.

I have no choice. Peter Piper already picked all my pecks.

Gone are the days of "I may disagree with what you say, but I'll defend, to the death, your right to say it."

People judging others "patriotism" or "use if freedoms" (like peaceful protests) is why this country is so torn apart.

I remember in the 90's you might get into politics, but one it was established that one was D and the other an R we would just talk about everything else as we basically agreed to disagree on politics.

Those days are gone by design to make it easier for these corrupt politicians to do nothing and sit in their cushy jobs of prestige.

If the people weren't fighting each other they'd be paying more attention to the corruption happening in places of power rather than each other.

It's a shame right?  I was actually raised not to talk about politics.  You don't discuss politics or salary is how I was raised.

I'm just as guilty now discussing politics but you can't avoid it.

Ya, but if you just met a random person a bar came up then, you just move on to other topics.

Now it's spite, questioning or moral character, etc and both political parties are equally corrupt and hypocritical which is what makes fighting each other so effing stupid.

Thanks for this. I immediately went to the beer can chicken.  (I want that wireless thermometer). Love that he injected the chicken.  I am due some.  BTW, I not only grill beer can chicken, I convection oven it too.
Can’t wait to watch his videos on aging steak.  Always wanted to try that.

But can I have a hoagie without pickles?  I grew up in the south and prefer my sandwich not buried in mayonnaise.

Why would you bring up mayo?  A traditional hoagie has oil, not mayo.

Pickles should be on the hoagie, but if you have to remove one... dump the pickles (cucumbers) and keep the pickled peppers.

Sorry, that is a narrow version of political discourse and our history.  Such is probably driven by twitter and 24/7 news.  We have always had boisterous and full discourse.  The pendulum swings and eventually the more vocal extremes realize that the pendulum spends most of its time in the middle and compromise prevails.

Mayonnaise on a Po’Boy sounds like how you described pickles on a Hoagie.  Thanks for the feedback. I will always keep the peppers.

It’s telling which posters result to insults when they don’t agree with you.

As time goes on discussing salary is becoming less and less taboo. Workers should discuss compensation and ensure they aren’t getting screwed over. It also is easier now that the internet exists and we can all see salary ranges for any given position.
