got yelled at at work today by a guy who didnt want him and his family to undergo a brief screening to enter the building. That was entertaining. He even threw his hand between the thermometer and his wife's forehead so we couldnt take her temperature

And another guy and his ~12 year old son came in in trump hats, and the dad had a piss on pelosi shirt on. Trump 2020 Trump Peeing On Pelosi Calvin Deplorable KAG Patriot T ...

It was funny seeing those guys, and the co-worker who could barely bring herself to speak to them to take their names and phone numbers. 2 kooks on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Just a few of the interesting things that happened today.

That came off really insincere.  Maybe the league needs to reevaluate policing things like marijuana use.  At my employer a DUI didn’t get you suspended, it got you an offer for counseling and a prohibition from driving for a period on behalf of the company.

there is no penalty for marijuana use anymore in the NFL.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Holy moly!  I'm trying to be more open-minded, especially because of everything that has happened over the last few weeks.  Please keep that in mind.  But when you lead an organization or a group within an organization, sometimes people make more money than others.  If we come across an amazing producer from a competitor that wants to make a move to our company, he/she makes more than the new employee out of college.  We give that experienced person a shot, and he/she is held accountable to higher numbers than a junior person that has to goes through lots and lots of training.

Culture is everything in business..........especially now.  When (in your opinion) would be a good time to openly discuss salaries for each employee in a commission driven industry?

You really have a skewed view of the population during the Revolution.  Many people were loyalists.  A whole lot of people didn’t care one way or the other.  My wife and I have a whole lot of relatives from that time.  Every position from heroes of the Revolution to Loyalists who fought for the king and everything in between. But just about none of them saluted a flag.  Really wasn’t a thing back then.

How does saluting cause positive change?   Sense of community.  Like when they raised the flag at Ground Zero.   Like the signs we see all over the place during this huge job loss that we are all in this together.  Like folks opening their hearts and wallets to support food banks in this time when our neighbors are in need.  Community matters.  Polarization does not affect positive change.  It causes division.  When 53% of the population opposes kneeling during the anthem, find a better way to make a statement or take action.   I would believe a lot more in Kaepernick trying to achieve change if when he lost his NFL job he went to,law school and became a prosecutor like Kamala Harris or became a police officer to move change from within.  But when a few people don’t salute or sit or kneel, they separate from the community.  I do not object to protest.  I have done it quite a lot myself. But I found dialogue with leaders can achieve change a lot more effectively than demonstration.

Ok let me rephrase that question, how does saluting a flag whose country it represents which is engaging in activities contrary to the original represented values of that flag effect positive change.

Germans saluted a flag and it brought them together in purpose and formed a sense of comradery and community. Thats not a community i would want to be a part of.

Kamala Harris has a pretty questionable record of defending blacks and black communities not sure shes best example to make your point.😕

Having said that i wasnt saluting the flag way before Kap so...

The calories for mayonnaise are outrageous for the value.  A good aioli is better.

Yup....and homemade mayo is so easy to make.

We can't do all that while at a footbal while the anthem plays... what we can do in that moment is stand.  Duh... stop being such a goofball .

or i can sit, its my constitutional right.

You don't stand to bring forth change. You stand to pay respect.  My lord you're a nincompoop!

Ill pay respect when the country that is represented by that flag starts showing respect to its citizens.

Still mayonnaise based.

No they aren’t.  Mash a garlic paste, add some lemon juice and fold in the EVOO.  That is traditional aioli.  I do have some recipes using Greek yogurt. Aiolis made with mayonnaise are really just flavored mayonnaise.

Did not know that at all, but that is encouraging.  Is it different in NC?  I literally ask if the aioli is mayo based and they always say yes here.

Culinarily similar, but not the same thing.

ah ha! But the flag is just a flag right? Just an object? So if it doesnt represent the country (according to you kneel supporters) then what has the flag itself done to you?

So you ARE disrespecting it out of spite because you do feel it represents the country. Even though you all have argued for years now that the protest was never about the veterans or the flag. hmm...

Interesting. Ill start calling you Joel "Do a 180" Embiid.

Respect is earned and must be re-earned constantly

@QBhunter58

Another thing that you can consider...  Zucchini boats!  Wonderful way to prepare just about any filling.  Almost any nationality food will go wonderfully inside these little vessels.  A nice Mexican beef and bean casserole... right inside the fruit... topped with cheese.   Italian sausage and tomatoes... with a little cheese.  You've heard of Asian lettuce wraps, right?  Well... Asian Zucchini boats!  Stuffed Peppers?  Just trade it out and stuff it in the Zucchini boat!  Prosciutto and cheese.   What about ratatouille inside the boat?  Cheeseburger zucchini boat.  Sloppy Joe zucchini boat.  Pulled pork zucchini boat.   Zucchini is the amazing wonder food... it goes with just about everything wonderfully.

Seafood, lamb, vegetarian... it all works.

Sound like a bunch of Rupaul's, lol.

Football cant get here soon enough ,go Bucs.

I am pretty much done discussing saluting the flag and standing for the anthem.  You do what you do, I do what I do.

So let me share what I have done.  I talked with our mayor, who represents my community on the police commission and have a message to the other councilman on our commission to determine if we have a policy on physical restraint and use of force.  Both are researching it.  I have shared my thoughts on this with them and will with the Chief, if necessary. I will attend a Commission meeting and a Council meeting if necessary.   I have written to both my  state representative and state senator as well as Governor Wolf’s office to determine if the State Police have a policy and if so what it is.   I also shared my thoughts on what it would be.   I will hear from Mike and Kristin or their staff and probably get some response from Wolf’s office.

I get all three’s newsletters plus my Congressional Representative’s and our Senators.  I follow and read pending bills of interest to me, let my legislators know what I think on them and also offer input on areas of interest to me.  I have met personally in the past with my state representative and senator.  I attend their town halls and virtual town halls. I would do the same with my Congressional Representative but he hides from his constituents.  I am viewed as a member of the community.

I support your right to protest or voice your position however you choose. But my folks taught me, if you aren’t part of the solution, you are part of the problem   I do not believe my country is always right but I will continue to try to make it better   I am proud of a lot of what we have done

Aye.  But, aioli is a little harder to make.  The egg and mustard make mayo easier to make, with little fear of it breaking.  And homemade mayo is so much better than store bought stuff.

Evoo is also much more expensive, than canola.  So, in my house we make homemade mayo, aioli is for special occasions.

Hazelton - this is the Kaep quote I spoke of the other day:

"I have great respect for the men and women that have fought for this country.  I have family, I have friends that have gone and fought for this country.  And they fight for freedom, they fight for the people, they fight for liberty and justice for everyone.  That's not happening.  People are dying in vain because this country isn't holding their end of the bargain up, as far as giving freedom and justice, liberty to everybody.  That's something that's not happening.  I've seen videos.  I've seen circumstances where men and women that have been in the military have come back and been treated unjustly by the country they have fought for, and have been murdered by the country they have fought for, on our land.  That's not right."

What I appreciate about this quote is that it is a young person, trying to find their voice, willing to express it while it isn't yet mature.  He is taking what he has experienced, what he has been learning, and trying to articulate his feelings of pain, anger, frustration, the history of racism and feeling compelled to speak out and try and influence change right now.  I also think it's important to never forget what racism really meant in the past (torture, murder, hanging, burning, drowning, rape, stealing children, pedophilia, and on and on) and that it's never expired.  Each time someone experiences racism today, they also experience the history of it.  The past is fresh, present.

When Kaep wore the Castro shirt he revealed his immaturity and that he had not yet been able to connect the dots.  For Cuban Americans and the descendants of Cuban American refugees, immigrants, political asylum seekers, they see Castro and they see, feel, re-experience either themselves or their loved ones who were imprisoned, tortured, murdered, and more and they rise up in anger, indignation, despair, disgust, fury.  Likewise, a person gets followed in a store because they are black, get called names, have their humanity questioned and mocked and stereotyped, and see authority figures and police murder their brethren, the past floods in and it is inescapably the present.  How can it not feel that way for all of us?  I know it does for me.  Kaep didn't connect the shared pain and experiences he shares with Cubans and people of Cuban descent.  Hopefully he does now.

Citizens United is a Supreme Court case.  Montana has a great law in response.  It’s a disclosure law because free speech is not guaranteed to be anonymous speech. We should pass that in PA and nationally.  We should also seriously consider an amendment that a business entity like a corporation, partnership, joint venture is not a person within the meaning of the Constitution.  Those two things would reign in a lot of Citizens United.  Challenge you representatives on this.  They are easy to email.   Go to town halls and bring it up at the microphone.  Too often we complain of not having a voice when we don’t try to exercise what voice we have.

They already tried to appeal at the SCOTUS level so a steep hill to climb.

Cot United is a lazy scapegoat. It didnt change much.

i like the transparency law

Shouldn’t be. With a mortar and pestle aioli takes five minutes, including cleaning up.
