I got stopped 3 times for speeding.

First time ever I was going 55 in a 35 just before it changes to 55. Cop basically said her piece and I really had no room to talk. There were no questions I could answer or anything. She ticketed me for a very specific speed using vascar. She was a local cop. Pretty big fine and points. I showed up in court and they settled it down to some minor violation with no points and a minimal fine. I just wanted the points gone so decreasing the fine was a nice bonus that I wasnt even looking for.

One time leaving work far from my home town. Officer asked what I was going there. I said I was the trainer for the high school. He asked if I knew why I got pulled over and I was completely honest and told him the speed I was going. It was something like 55 in a 35. He was visibly shocked and then said, no one is ever that honest. He took my stuff back to my car and sat for a while and came back and thanked me. He let me go with nothing. Just told me to watch my speed through that part next time.

Most recently got caught for 55 in a 40 by my house. The officer apparently recognized me from high school and let me go. I do not know who he was. Couldnt tell you his name and his face wasnt familiar. Maybe he recognized my wife too. Not really sure but she said he was in my class (she was a year ahead of me).

Dont know... but 2/3 for niceness working. Most cops are good people. Dont give them reason to want to be a D, and they typically wont be.

I got pulled over for doing 40 in a 25 "in town".  He asked if I knew why I was pulled over.  I said, "no".  He told me I was speeding 'in town'.  I looked around, saw corn on all sides and asked him very politely... "Sir, I am new to this area, I was just hired two weeks ago to teach at the local high school... I'll be coming this way a lot, so for the future so that I don't speed in town again... exactly where is 'town'?"   He mentioned something about the intersection by the bank, a blinking yellow light and the General Store.  (no lie, all true).   I mentioned that I didn't go past any of that and had just turned off the highway, and saw the 45 sign was the first one I saw, so I figured that was the speed limit on that road.  He let me off with an 'Obstructed view' ticket, as I had left my parking pass on the rear view mirror.   $42 fine, but no points.

I didn't fight it and just made the contribution to this holiday party... or whatever they use that money for.

Second time I was pulled over was in the Outer Banks.  I was on one road, and the Speed limit was 55.  Turned on to a parallel road, doing 50... and was immediately pulled over.  Turns out the speed limit there is 35.   He asked if I was leaving town.  I told him I was just arriving (he noticed all the gear in the back and the out of state tags).  I told him I had just done a U-turn off the main highway and was trying to get back to my rental, but missed the turn.  He let me off with a warning and told me that "one road is 55, and the other is 35.  Don't confuse them again."   I said, "Yessir.  Thank you."

More worthless self righteous bs. I’m right everybody else is wrong blah blah blah nobody cares about grammar. Your point was wrong when you posted it days ago and remains wrong. You were too fragile to hear it then and you remain true to form. No, it is not lawful to go to the baton to "rough someone up” when they are in handcuffs. You were, and are, wrong. You were, and are, too fragile to admit it.

So you deflect to I can’t read (disregarding your contraction issues), you don’t have time to read the counterpoint, you can’t find the link you already found, blah blah blah.

wake up. Grow up. Seeing an error in your argument doesn’t make you less of a man. It makes you an adult.

I got baited into a ticket once by a d-head cop. I was in the far right lane of a 3 lane route. Lane I was in unexpectedly ended and merged left.  I was ahead of the cop car but not enough to merge over without cutting him off so I sped up and he decided to speed up enough too. I also couldn’t just slow up and get over because of the traffic behind him. So I ended up cutting him off while speeding and got a reckless driving ticket.

I also was given a warning for more serious things so I guess karma corrected itself.

I once got out of a speeding ticket (I was going 70 in a 55... I thought the speed limit was 65) because the cop appreciated that I had my son correctly in a rear-facing car seat. The person he stopped prior to me had her newborn lying down in the back seat. No car seat or anything.

That parent should be jailed😒

Having said that when i was a little kid my grandma used to put me on the cushy middle console, you know where most ladies put their purses😄

My wifes brother when they were kids on trips would lay down in the extended area in the rear window the whole trip.

My 7 year old son has a booster seat i think its suggested a child has a booster until they weigh 50 lbs. I wasnt 50 lbs until like 5th grade. I always tell my wife hes fine and doesnt need it and tell her when we were kids my parents would just load us all up in the bed of the truck all rolling around back there like a bunch of hogs😄

Having said that, buckle up your kids and selves properly, seatbelts save lives😊

My grandmas rule was always front seats = seatbelts because they were the "death seats”. Backseats were anything goes

Lol yup.

Im not sure either of my grandparents cars had death seats, both my grandparents drove huge boats, i think they were made of cast iron steel, it was like riding around in a sherman Tank.

Speaking of Sherman Tanks i always appreciated the way Heath Sherman Ran. That dude ran Hard!

God I can’t wait for there to be football again.

Ive had too many traffic violations to list but once i got a ticket from a cop who was standing in his front yard when i drove past him. I was picking up one of my players for football practice and was stopped in the kids driveway waiting for him and this guy in plains clothes pulls up behind me asks for my license and reg, and im like what for???and he says i was speeding, so i said no i wasnt, how would you know you were standing in your front yard watering your lawn???and he says, " i could tell your speed by the rotation of your tires" 😕 i just laughed and said whatever dude give me my ticket im going to be late for practice, he wrote me up for 35 in a 25. I showed up to court to contest it, turns out the cop was a helicopter pilot cop, i told the judge the story and she laughed and dismissed my ticket. The cop had shown up to make a statement but had left before i spoke.😒

Other than that all the other tickets ive gotten were totally justified as i was in direct violation of traffic laws😊

I feel no obligation to hold my tongue and neither should anybody else, regardless of what they look like. Unfortunately, the latter part of that statement isn’t the reality.  The police should never lose sight of the fact they are public servants and serve all of us.

They are public servants but can still be A-holes.  Some let their power go to their head.

I know it's a dangerous job and they have to be ready and on edge at any moment.  They never know when someone might do something dangerous.

That’s disappointing. I thought the Lance Armstrong one wasn’t as good as Jordan but I thought it was decent. I was looking forward more to the mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa one

My Netflix choice for tonight was Monty Python, The Life of Brian; hadn’t watched it in quite a few years.  Still holds up as extremely funny, but for me it’s still their second best film — The Meaning Of Life being by far the funniest IMO.  The Holy Grail was just too far past silly for me; still classic comedy nonetheless.

I read interviews where the Pythons were quoted that the fans they encountered who favored The Meaning Of Life were those who were most loyal to the original Flying Circus series.  I agree with that as I’ve always been a big fan of sketch comedy, when it’s done well.

Sign anyone lately?

Yup, same has happened to me.  Twice for speeding and like you I was totally honest.  Let's face it, we all speed.  No reason in trying to say not.  People would be surprised how far honesty can go.

I got pulled over for going straight at a right turn only stop sign one time.  I honestly didn't see the sign and there was NO traffic.  When he got to my window I just asked questions told him I didn't see the sign.  He was cool said there are actually 2 signs there.  Still gave me a $190 ticket which sucked but I was in the wrong.  What drives me crazy is they just cherry pick there.  He turned around and went right back to where he was sitting.

I will never know what it's like to be in a black man's shoes but even as a white guy your heart still gets stuck in your throat when you see flashing lights in your mirror.  However, be honest, do what's asked and don't throw an attitude and I think we would see a lot less interactions.

This place is exhausting lately. Small wonder only 4 guys are participating....

It's crazy to think how child safety in cars has changed over the last 20-30 years.  Growing up in the 80s we had none of it.  We had a Chrysler Reliant station wagon, no seats in the hatch but we would pack 4 kids just sitting in there.  3 across the back seat, 2 in the front with someone straddling the shifter.

Very true. We didn't know what a bicycle helmet was. We also used to jump off the old steel bridge across the Lehigh at Bowmanstown.

I'm surprised to have lasted this long.

3 in your lifetime? That's it? Wow. Lucky.

I use a radar detector but with laser it still doesn't give you time to slow down

No radar in PA except by state police.  Locals can use vascar.  State police like to hide in the weeds and play gotcha on the freeways.  Not much of a speed deterrent. Frankly, a visible police car, even an empty one is more of a speed deterrent.  That’s the problem.  Citations and warnings seem to be used as proof of enforcement thus doing the job.   Isn’t the goal safety?

That’s the problem I see with a lot of the laws and how we as a society approach them.  We defund or don’t fund programs that would help people and focus our funding on enforcement

Notice what happened when the police pulled back from the protests?  Little vandalism, practically no arson.   Notice what happened when the police were so focused on protestors?  In some communities the criminal element came out and targeted stores where the police weren’t for burglary  (looting is just burglary by another name) forcing citizens to protect their own property, sometimes with bad results. Wrong use of resources

I remember what our discussion was when Clinton was putting 100k more officers on the street.  We got a grant that would fund an additional officer.  My position was to question whether we needed another officer (no) and what would happen when the funding ran out.  It was pointed out to me that we were facing a retirement coming up.  We could use the funding to train his replacement and offset our costs in the process. That’s what we did.

I like Holy Grail the most of all of their movies. Yeah, it's silly but that's what makes it so great. I've always thought Brian was a bit overrated but I watched it recently for the first time in about fifteen years and enjoyed it more than I had remembered. The key for me was to watch it with subtitles. That actually helped, as the plot made more sense -- it didn't feel like random sketches strung together. I'm sorry, but Meaning of Life never really did much for me. I remember watching it in the theater when it came out and enjoying it, but it never measured up, in my mind, to their previous movies. Of course I loved the Flying Circus shows, and about a year ago I went on a spree of watching the entire series. Great stuff. And of course Fawlty Towers is one of the greatest comedies in the history of television.

Did you know that every castle shot in that movie was the same castle, just shot from a different direction?
