This place is exhausting lately. Small wonder only 4 guys are participating....

We lost power last week and I wasn't able to get online for more than a day. When I finally logged in, there were about thirty five pages to catch up on. Wow, was that ever exhausting.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Here's some football to fight about instead:

Tim McManus picked for the Eagles and took:

Round 1 (21): Baker Mayfield, QB
Round 2 (44): Chase Young, DE
Round 3 (85): Lane Johnson, OT
Round 4 (108): A.J. Brown, WR

Wow, even in the world of make believe, the Jaguars make stupid decisions.

The fact the jags took dak before wentz is laughable. It would be a jags type of move. Also no thanks on baker mayfield. I much rather have taken Stafford or Sam darnold rather than Baker if i were going to go QB. Neither are overwhelmingly great options but i think Stafford on a good team with a good coach would be much better than with the lions. I also think darnold isn’t as big of a head case as baker and with legitimate OLine and coaching would be my choice.

Kempski’s comp on Taylor, Kevin Pierre-Louis is a bit discouraging.

His company for Wallace, Glover Quinn is much more hopeful.

Man I felt really bad about the Baker Mayfield pick until I saw Drew Lock at 15

I think Wallace is a steal. He probably dropped because he can't play deep safety, but he looks like he would be a perfect fit for our defense.

I am not high on Taylor, either. We have two guys on the roster, Brown and Riley, who basically give us the same thing. I actually like Dante Olson. He had a slow 40 time, but some of his other athletic measurables are off the chart. I would rather have a linebacker who is a step slower but always in position over a linebacker who has a lot of speed but who is constantly out of position.

Saw Cox was hosting all the D-Lineman at his place for workouts and everyone showed but Hargrave.

Could be nothing but you’d like to see the new guy bonding with his new teammates. Hopefully he’s not a case of got my money so I’m partially checked out.

Taylor is a total lottery pick. Not thrilled with the pick and he's as raw as sushi but his athleticism and upside is much higher than guys like Brown and Riley given how little relative experience he has. We'll see.

I remember hearing that Hargrave was out of town but also hosted some sort of workout wherever he was?  I could be wrong on that.

Now I'm curious if that picture I posted a bit ago from facebook of the Dline in Houston with Cox had Hargrave or not

Obviously this was poorly thought out (Brees and Brady in round 1?), but taking any elite non-QB over a good or better QB would be a colossal disaster. As good as Aaron Donald is, he isn’t worth more wins than an average starting QB.

Was going to say, a locker room of 53 players 6 feet apart doesn't even seem possible let alone 90

Be difficult enough on a football field really...

Yup, same has happened to me.  Twice for speeding and like you I was totally honest.  Let's face it, we all speed.  No reason in trying to say not.  People would be surprised how far honesty can go.

I got pulled over for going straight at a right turn only stop sign one time.  I honestly didn't see the sign and there was NO traffic.  When he got to my window I just asked questions told him I didn't see the sign.  He was cool said there are actually 2 signs there.  Still gave me a $190 ticket which sucked but I was in the wrong.  What drives me crazy is they just cherry pick there.  He turned around and went right back to where he was sitting.

I will never know what it's like to be in a black man's shoes but even as a white guy your heart still gets stuck in your throat when you see flashing lights in your mirror.  However, be honest, do what's asked and don't throw an attitude and I think we would see a lot less interactions.

The police are trained for interactions.  They are the ones interaction on these issues all day.  They need to be trained to de-escalate.  I think there's very good evidence that when they are trained in deescalation there is less chance of violence.

Sometimes I just think both sides of the aisle should be able to agree on a utilitarian approach to the interactions.  From a utilitarian perspective, the reason to have police is that it less costly to society to have them then to not have them.  People and businesses are hurt by lawlessness and that hurt can be measured economically.  On the other hand, arrests, the judicial process and prison all cost money to operate.   So if we assume that as an ethical foundation and assume that any interaction has to be viewed vs. the cost to the general public, then less arrests and violence should be the end result.

Part of the problem with this equation is that there are too many business interests tied up in the prison system.   There is a whole prison industry that drives too much of our policy.

While Taylor's athleticism is something to be excited about he sure is raw for a 3rd round pick.  With Hurts and Taylor the Eagles very well could have wasted round 2 and 3 this year.  Let's hope Taylor develops in to more than a special teams player.
