I just went on the Eagles website for the first time in months.   I wonder how much traffic they've lost since the message boards were closed down?

I did the same yesterday when I was trying to find the defensive tackles on the roster.  First off, I took it off my favorites bar so i had to search for it.  Funny, there was no content on the site I eve felt remotely interested in reading.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Im not getting into an asinine argument with a Bernie Bro

The world has seen many attempts at your brand of fake democracy before and it ends in mass death, poverty, and conflict.  No thanks

Capitalism--the greatest economic system ever created by man

You do understand, don’t you, that democratic socialism is capitalistic in most countries and what is referred to as democratic socialism for the likes of the Bernie Progressives are social programs to help the populace, like social security and Medicare (or unemployment or food stamps, or ethanol, or crop insurance subsidies or no payback "loans” to small business or financial bailouts to corporations Etc.)

You lose even in the extremes

Pure, unadulterated capitalism leads to poor working conditions and wealth gaps

Pure, unadulted socialism leads to centralized power, mass death, mass poverty, and food shortages

We wouldn't know....it's never gotten actually tried. Countries have started, but they never make it to actual socialism, they always stop in some form of authoritarian regime, since that was generally their real aim to start with. So to say "unadulterated socialism" leads to anything would be intellectually dishonest since it's never happened. In theory, it leads to a classless society with elected leaders. I am not for it, I favor a mix of socialism and capitalism like what we have, but the current percentages of each are fair to debate.

We have cowboy capitalism here in the good old US of A...privatize your profits,  socialize your losses.

In the Early years of the Mormon church, early 1800s led by Joseph Smith, he tried to institute what was termed as the United Order, basically a communal or sociial economic system, joseph smith and the mormon church abandoned it about a year in because, as he said, the people werent ready to follow it. The system isnt the problem its the people in it that screw it up.

I am fairly left leaning but one of the greatest speakers I have seen was Justice Antonin Scalia.  He was a gentleman.  He was sincere in his discussions with me and law school classmates.  He sat out on the smoking area at my law school debating students while smoking cigarettes.  He was unwavering and thoughtful in his opinions.  Now, I still don't agree with him and I think in some areas of the law he was just as susceptible to deviating from a textualist approach as he accused others of being with the Constitution.  He did help me understand his point of view and think critically.

I think speakers can be vetted for their credibility.  Certainly, there are people who are unqualified and should not be invited.  I mean anti-vaxxers, holocaust deniers, flat earthers and those claim to have been abducted by alien provide little educational value.  Students, however, should be open to hear other points of view.

I too heard Scalia speak, at Penn IIRC. He was funny, acerbic, and as you say, unwavering and thoughtful. I had a chance to ask him a question and asked if he had read Jack Rakove's Original Meanings. He said he had and that it got most of the way there. He said that what originalists have most of that others don't is trust. Trust in the founders. He mentioned Odysseus lashing himself to the mast so he could here the song of the sirens. If you are not tied to your principles you can be swayed by every sweet song you hear and drawn to your doom. I would say that 70% of the audience was not sympathetic to him at the start but he had us eating out of his hand within a few minutes. I can't say that he converted me but he gave me much food for thought. He too was a siren singing a sweet song.

No other economic system affords the poorest of the poor the opportunities that capitalism does

All the socialist handouts in the world can never equal the upward mobility that a person has in capitalism. Again, reality, history, they all back this up while you guys are living in the clouds and imagining those "angles of the government" that milton friedman talked about

You sure do like to tell me who I am and what I think.  Is it genetic or learned?

You have the right to do lots of things that hurt anyone. The students and faculty chose to not to listen to Ivanka, they didnt choose to hurt her yet she is hurt.

Apparently the US has the right to drop bombs on yemeni palestinian children and they hurt them so apparently the US government believes their rights supercede those of other humans whose right???

Someone inviter her. What about their right to hear her speak. Are you saying their rights are any less valid than the ones who don't want to hear her speak? All they have to do is not go.

When has the US dropped bombs on Yemini children?  Use caution here. I'll guarantee you I know more about targeting policy than you

Not referring to why they " cancelled" the speech, i already mentioned the why earlier.

I was referring to the comment that the format of ivankas speech had been changed as they agreed to make it available for students to read.

Seems like a reasonable compromise one im sure the universities GOP donors were pushing for.

You are a zealot and like all zealots your mind is closed.

To socialism?  Democratic socialism?

Yes, consider that door closed and welded shut.

What other failed ideas should we need to discuss or otherwise be labeled a zealot?

Should we try bloodletting for smallpox?

Should we try swimming tests to determine if someone is a witch?

Some things deserve to be left in the past, and socialism as a main economic model is one of them

To be clear, our agents - Saudis - dropped bombs made by us on Yemeni children.

"The means of production"...just straight up using Marxist language now?

The person who owns a factory is the means of production more than the workers, who would not exist without management

You scooping fries with a spatula doesnt qualify you for anything but a spatula operators salary, because you are bringing no real skills to the table

Supply and demand, incentivizing hard work and self improvement and innovation.  Concepts that are foreign to a socialist who wants equality of outcome and not equality of opportunity

Yeah, I think workers deserve more than they get.  Likewise, without the workers, the owner would not have a product.  I am amused that you immediately use a fast food worker as your example rather than a heavy machine operator, HVAC installer, underground miner, and so forth.

Equality of opportunity. Straight out of the mouth of a capitalist.

Next your going to tell me everyone has health care because they have access to it.

I have access to a ferrari yet here i am with out a ferrari, maybe i just need to work harder or more😒

You say Marx like its a swear word😳why not set aside your fear stop being so coddled and open your mind to views that differ from yours...😉

Oh no, you called me a capitalist

Ill have to take my cell phone and laptop, drive to my large home on my property in the high tech car that I own and cry myself to sleep on my mattress that automatically adjusts to my body as I sleep

......still no football talk....

You can call it capitalism but that doesnt make it true. Its far closer to socialism with the central planning of the economy

That narrative is phony

Democratic socialism is what they call a nation that has a small, ethnically uniform population where capitalism funds their entitlement programs (more by the day)

They blew up a school bus full of kids. " on accident" funny how many "accidents" happen when dropping bombs.😒

Just as easily as one can say if they dont want to listen dont show up one can say if they are mad she wont be there they can not show up.

Its how a democracy works. I voted against fluoride in public water yet here i am with fluoride in my public water. I can whine about it, drink it or buy non fluoridated water in no way has my right to drink or not drink fluoridated water or voice or vote my opinion about it been violated, excusing the fact its not the governments job to medicate the general public(thats communism😉) just like its not the governments job to force students to swallow whatever ivanka is saying in their own college.

i agree. Socialism as a MAIN economic model has shown over and over again to fail.

I disagree about the which and swimming though. The best measure of determining whether one is a which is to weigh her against a duck, but not gravy apples or small rocks😉

Thank you. Matt and I don’t see eye to eye on a lot of things but I have a standing offer to him the next time he does is East or I am west, to sit down and have a drink with me.

I would like to know from the libs why it’s okay to protest by the thousands side by side in the streets for two weeks  but opening a barber shop for business or going to work period is criminal?

I have had the pleasure of sitting with him and he is exactly what I expected, only more so and better. You two have much in common, including commitment to your communities.
