Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Not free enough; I agree.

They are but I can get them on Twitter or Facebook or YouTube.  They've spread the content so widely, I don't need to go to the .com site anymore

While I do see most of his stuff on Twitter, he's the main reason I still visit the Eagles' official website.

Banning the confederate flag was long overdue.  Waiving that is more disrespectful to our flag than kneeling.

That’s true.

I tend to watch the Pressers on Facebook or Vimeo too.   I almost can't believe they allowed the website to become so marginalised.

Far more.

Plus, at least for me, it feels like its a chore to get any video to load and play on the main page. Everything plays much easier on twitter

Yup. I know I can to 3 or 4 platforms and watch it.  Why wait on the main site for it to load?

You wouldn't think so reading those twitter replies

Is the movie The Help getting banned from HBO?

seems only fair

Is the NSDAP flag banned in nascar too?

You can call it capitalism but that doesnt make it true. Its far closer to socialism with the central planning of the economy

It is a matter of definition.  My father’s grandparents and great grandparents came here from Norway.  In Norway, a person typically had two last names. They might be Sven son of Lars (Larsen) of Fjetland, where they were from.  When they got the the US, they either became Larsen or Fjetland for a surname.  My family name is derivative of a communal farm.  That means they tended to farm together.  Socialism? Survival.  By the time they made it to South Dakota, they we’re homesteaders.  But I have pictures of my great grandfather, my grandfather and even my dad and his brothers as kids working side by side with the other Norwegian descendants from the Norwegian township working side by side with the Bohemian descendants that were their neighbors thrashing, branding and bringing in the hay and silage.  Socialists?  Well it was shared work just like back in Norway.

If we want to be honest, the biggest socialists we have in this country are super conservatives like my father in law.  He is beholden to his neighbors for help. He pays them for some of it but there is a lot that is just neighborly. They kind of help out each other.  He is on a state government pension, Medicare and Social Security. If he has to go Into assisted living, it will probably be mostly funded my Medicaid (that is the biggest expense Medicaid has).  Socialist?

We were on the brink of a recession a few months ago.  The Federal Reserve stepped in. The interest rate was dropped to nothing (socialism for banks?). No payback loans to small businesses that basically offered paychecks to non working employees.  Socialism?   Industries bailed out with more favorable deals that I could ever get.  Socialism?   Landlord protections.  Socialism?  Opportunity zones proposed by and then profited from by Jared Kushner.  Are he and Ivanka socialists?
Cheese program or food stamps.  Is it the farmers or the poor that are the socialists?   I worked for a huge multinational insurance company that was the second largest crop insurer in the country.  A lot of crop insurance premiums are paid for by the federal government.  This took the place of subsidies as those were distasteful to the public.  Was my company socialist or the farmers.  Ethanol requirements.  Are the corn farmers socialist.  Refining capacity.  Are newer refiner builders like Exxon or Chevron socialists?  Increased unemployment benefits.  Are the unemployed socialists?  Assurance that kids get a balanced meal (START from Congressman Goodling, RIP, from York County, PA), socialists?  SCHIP, all kids have a level of health coverage.  Socialists?

Are we that different from the Scandinavians?

That narrative is phony

Democratic socialism is what they call a nation that has a small, ethnically uniform population where capitalism funds their entitlement programs (more by the day)

To quote HE, wrong.

What is and isn’t an entitlement program. See my most recent post.

Very. They chose to work together for mutual benefit. Were they forced to feed those that didnt work the land? Doubt it

The point is you are the one playing the semantics game, not us

When you actually look to this philosophical principles, the systems you describe are far more socialism than capitalism. But repeat the lie enough times and all...

I have had the pleasure of sitting with him and he is exactly what I expected, only more so and better. You two have much in common, including commitment to your communities.

I suspect so.  I would be honored to extend the same invite to you.  You are fascinating in what experiences you have shared with us and the level of reading you have done.

I see it as a First Amendment issue so I’m not inclined to compromise.

First Amendment does not guarantee the right to a commencement speech. If it does, let your school know I am exercising my right.
