This one turned out so good I had to post it here.  This will be my "final” mock draft posted in the Blog.  Traded #21 and #53 to the 49ers and they sent us #13,  #156 and #210.  Probably would need to include Rasul Douglas for them to send us that much back but it worked on the Draft Network.   This draft addresses scheme specific players and most of them should make the team and at least half of them should see the field in year 1, imo.

Swap Ruggs for Lamb (if we are going to 13, better be for Lamb or Jeudy).

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I'd be all in on Trent Williams for a 4th.  Do Rivera/Del Rio like big corners?  Would Rasul be good for them?  The one thing about Williams is he brings a nasty attitude which I would love on the line.

Not realistic.  He wants a big contract and the Eagles don’t have that room.  Every prospect, every trade possibility, "Eagles on it”.  While I suspect Howie listens to everyone and the Eagles scout every prospect they could be playing against or considering as a FA at some point in the future, most of these don’t have legs.  This is a the Eagles "lost” their starting LT type of rumor without regard to,Dillard’s play at LT last spring.

I played with a guy when I was a kid that would try so hard to perfect things that he would turn red with anger and on one occasion cry out in frustration.   In a game, he was calm as could be and you wouldn’t want to get hit by him.  He was the kind of player, that people would say "when he hits you, you stay hit”.   He was also the type that after a game, you would tell him he had a good game and he would tell you about the play he thought he should have done better on.  Just driven to meet his own expectations.

Anyhow ,I see eagles trading up tonight, try and land ,lamb or Jeudy, although,  I have seen where there is some concern with Jeudy's knee. So maybe lamb ,who would be my top WO in rd 1.

Big fan of Lynn Bowden in rd 3

Tier 1: No Chance, but would draft them

1.      Young
2.      Okudah
3.      Henderson
4.      Simmons
5.      Wirfs
6.      Wills
7.      Becton
8.      Thomas
9.      Burrow
10.  D. Brown

Tier 2: Possible, but unlikely
11.  Lamb
12.  Ruggs
13.  Jeudy

Tier 3: Right Value at 21
14.  Chaisson
15.  Jefferson
16.  Reagor
17.  Kinlaw
18.  Tua (yes)

Tier 4: Would rather trade down, but makes sense
19.  Queen
20.  Aiyuk
21.  Mims
22.  Gross-Matos
23.  Murray

Tier 5: The DB Cluster
24.  Johnson
25.  Fulton
26.  McKinney
27.  Terrell
28.  Diggs
29.  Gladney
30.  Chinn
31.  Winfield Jr.
32.  Igbinoghene

---

Tried being realistic as I don't love everyone on this list. Tier 5 if we trade down into the backend of RD1/beginning of RD2 is a mess.
If you don't love tier 4, then you should be on a team trade up or down.

Just listened to the Tie Domi interview on Angelo's show.  Dude's pretty awesome.

He'll be 32 when the season starts.  Maybe Howie could get him on a manageable 3-year contract.  I really think the Dillard trade rumors earlier in the year had some truth to them.  I feel they may have soured on him throughout the year.  I'm not saying I want them to trade him, it would be a horrible use of assets, especially considering they traded up for him.  Hey, they could have thought they were getting a totally different player when they drafted him and after a year realize he isn't what they thought.  I would much rather them get rid of a mistake and move on instead of sitting on him.

The likelihood of this happening is ZERO, just playing armchair GM for the next 12 hours.  Say a team offers you  a 2nd for Dillard.  You then can use that as ammo to go get CeeDee Lamb.  Still have your 2nd for another WR, CB, Ruiz the list goes on.  You would have a solid LT in Williams for the next few years and next year you get your LT.

Again, just playing different scenarios in my head.

Whenever they post it, you should listen to the interview.   Only about 7-8 minutes long.  Great stuff.

I have this feeling that four QBs go early with some draft trades.  Wouldn’t be surprised to see wasteam trade down for a later pick so some team can grab a QB and some other team grabs Young so wasteam can get a LT.  I think there will be a run on Ts and suspect a day 2:run on Gs. Wasteam needs both and if the giants have any sense they will grab a LT.  wasteam will have to temper its expectations as to what they can get for Williams.   Rivera likes RBs.  I could see a Fournette for Williams flip.  Would not be surprised to see the cowpads go DE or possibly CB.  I expect at some point they will draft a C unless they think Connor McGovern can play that position at some point.
The early second may be interesting to watch from a QB perspective as there are teams their that may be looking for a QB to draft.  Loser in the sweepstakes signs Wilson.

Thank God draft day is here!!!!!!   For many reasons.

What about the people who will be posting mock drafts on here the days after the draft to show you that they could have drafted better than what Howie ended up with?

What are you talking about? I was no fan of bucs when they won superbowl.

I became a fan when Morris was HC ,bucs were awful. They still have yet to make playoffs.

But I'm still a huge bucs fan, maybe this year ,if the league plays, will be their year to finally reach the playoffs.

I don't buy it! Whoever you are, you're over-doing it with the grammar typos.

If you're the real guy, then find your original avatar and change to your screen name.  You don't have to worry about bans here.

This will help me believe you:  what are your thoughts on Veejer?  AFan?

Total Confessions time:

  1.  Which player that the Eagles took were you MOST disappointed in and were RIGHT?
  2.  Which player did you ABSOLUTELY think the Eagles HAD TO GET, they didn't and he turned out to be a complete BUST?
  3. Which player were you disappointed the Eagles took and were WRONG?

For me:

1. Trevor Laws - waited throughout the entire first round... only to have them grab Trevor Laws with their first pick that year.  (I really wanted Eddie Royal, but we did get Desean Jackson two picks later).

2.  I thought Justin Blackmon was going to be an absolute stud.  Wow, that didn't turn out well, glad the Eagles didn't make that mistake.

3.  I didn't get the Shawn Andrews pick at the time.  It turned out well, until his back and his head went out.

Sounds like a nightmare to me.

I confess I don't know enough about college to be happy or disappointed at first. Although JJAWs "highlights" were among the worst I've ever seen . My deepest confession would have to be being completely wrong about Nnamdi in F/A. I was also right that getting T.O. would get us to the Super Bowl that crazy basatge

It's really hard to pick just one, when you have been watching drafts for so many years.

1.  Jon Harris has to be number one.  When the entire draft coverage team and every analyst says there is no way this guy goes before round 4, and your head coach is trying to take a player that "looks like" a player on a rival team, you know it's bad.  There are a lot of these LOL.  Some honorable mentions -

  • Marcus Smith, obvious reach at the time;  "We are targeting 6 players that are all likely to be gone and have absolutely no plan when they are taken before us"
  • workout warrior Mike Mamula, when Sapp was on the board;
  • Todd Pinkston - how the hell do you take someone with that build in the high 2nd;
  • Freddie Mitchell - not big, not fast, not special, first round pick in a very deep receiver draft, did not get it;
  • Donnell Pumphrey - in an incredible RB draft, where it is a big need, we get a Lorenzo Booker/non-NFL player

2.  Calvin Pryor is the most recent example.  Thought he was exactly the safety we needed and could be there at our pick. Going back, I am sure there are more, but my own bad takes don't stay in my brain as long.

3. Brandon Graham.  When the Eagles made the slight move up, I think everyone thought, wow, we are getting Earl Thomas!  It's actually happening!!  And then... we take an undersized, "high motor" pass rusher, with allegedly limited athletic ability and ceiling.  It felt like absolute draft malpractice at the time.  I was ready to storm Novacare with the TATE army and demand they relieve the personnel department of all control.  It's still funny how it all worked out.  Like most of us I love BG and will always value him, and was very happy when he was extended and stayed with the team.  There are a few other examples, but none come close.

I don't know anything about college football. I base whether it was good on if the board explodes every year:lol:

I thought the Eagles still had 20 million in cap space unless the cap site was wrong 2 weeks ago.
