That sounds nice but as Jules would say...that ish aint the truth.

if all a person is capable of are those jobs they should not be having kids.

Big business is where the economy happens. our problem is that the bottom 80% of earners pay almost nothing into the system. Its the ignored reality when comparing to socialist systems. They tax the hell out of lower earners too

the people taking my tax dollars are the failures and public sector workers.

You’re saying poor people shouldn’t have kids. Thing is, they aren’t poor because they’re stupid or don’t work hard. You know how many people are waking up at 3-4 AM to start 1 of their 2 jobs just to have enough to live off? Our society is broken, and instead of trying to fix that, you’re solution is just telling poor people to deal with it, while the wage gap continues to increase every year?

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

That isn’t true.   Our local police get tons of training.  The question is whether the training is appropriate.
Scary how relevant this is fifty years later.  I was 12

Last numbers from 2018 cops are required around 950 hours of training to become cops which works out to about 6 months.

And a barber is required to complete 1500 hours of training.

Not sure how that translates to months, im not so good with the math😞yeah that 60 minutes video might as well be from yesterday.

I don’t think they have a lot of choice this year. I worry about how that affects players on the fringe as to training, scheme, experience.

One with a livable wage.

Until the minimum wage is a livable wage, Corporations will happily let the government provide supplemental assistance to their employees.

It's really a nice scheme.  Keep the profits and let their customers pay their employees through the tax/welfare mechanism.

You honestly are coming off as the type of person who thinks they’re better than those minimum wage workers who are out at work during this pandemic because they’re essential.

If you’re working then you have a real job.

Really, so you paying 700% a year on average to big business is great because failed trickle down economics but that 30$ a year you give to fund food stamps is a drain on society?

How do you feel about the taxes you pay towards the military budget which is far more than you pay in just about everything else. Unless you are a weapons manufacture that investment isnt really paying off unless you are suggesting that US economic growth and sustainabilty is dependent on War and blowing people up?

Nice that you categorize people as failures bevause they arent good enough at capitalism to not starve or house themselves, but then again its because theyre either lazy or stupid or both right?

Lazy and stupid people are plentiful yes

i am fine paying for military. Its a clear federal responsibility that protects the nation. Welfare is a drain on the nation. It is not the govts role to provide a standard of living and with finite resources the ROI matters

now the defense budget can certainly be trimmed in a meaningful way but it still pales in comparison to entitlements

How does one suggest fixing the " failures" and who are considered the failures, is their a wage minimum to decide failure and valuable memeber of capitalism? If so when a failure ceases to be valuable to capital what should we do with said failures?

No entities, except health provider corporations and other legal entities (schedules on what is paid for care) and health insurers (Single payer) would Be happier to have Medicare for All than corporations that provide health care benefits to their employees.

This isn't a matter of free speech.  The incoming dean was able to express her views.

The issue is that those views, in the opinion of the administrations, were inconsistent with the values they want to convey.

I'll defend your right to free speech.  Don't blame me for the consequences of what you say.

Who is they? ASU is a public university and the administrators are simply public employees. They should be neutral to political concerns. Moreover, this should have been considered before they offered the candidate a position and before the candidate accepted the position.

The dean in question made no public announcements. She is accused of inappropriate speech by former students. She has denied it and has not been afforded due process.

Capitalism makes it real easy to tell bc it demands self sufficiency
