YAC receivers basically fall into two camps in the NFL: you have your bull in a china shop types like you mentioned who are just much physically stronger than their opponents and then you have the pure speed/agility guys.

The problem I see with Lamb is that he isn’t elite at either one of those things. He might make some guys miss at the NFL level, but I don’t think he has the speed or quickness to really punish defenses once he does.

CeeDee is not a blazer by any means but I have to disagree. Although I would agree that he is a guy who slowly builds speed, when he gets going his in game speed is really nice.

There are several reasons why I think he could continue to be a YAC monster (as well as a few apprehensions)

My biggest apprehension is what I was talking about above; his explosive acceleration speed: he will struggle to get out of tight man coverage and needs to work on his route releases to beat physical press defenders.  Also, while he has the frame to add bulk I dont think that would be good for him... He has little experience (or success) as a physical receiver, so I dont see him being a Michael Thomas type of guy. This leads me to the easiest to fix issue (that can actually be a pseudo strength); he needs the coaching staff to scheme him to find gaps in the defense. If they work with him, he will thrive... If it is up to Kellen Moore, i think he will be a good scheme fit, if it is left to McCarthy he may be in trouble (although guys like Jordy and Greg Jennings were successful in the past).

The reasons I feel he will continue to put up Yac yards are numerous, but I will name a few. He does not have the agility of a smaller receiver, but he is very crafty in the open field. Lamb also is exceptional at making adjustments, he really is creative in the open field and uses a combination of speed, quickness, and vision to make guys miss. But perhaps what most impresses me about lamb (pertaining to YAC) is his proprioception and balance. He has an elite ability to adjust his body either to make the catch or to maneuver around defenders. I think he will be fine at the NFL level

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

This was my problem with Lamb as a prospect as well. But I think his ball skills are so phenomenal that even not being an elite YAC guy, he will still be a very good NFL WR.

I think his YAC is his strength.  He has a great sense of who's around and weaves in and out of traffic so well.  Might not be a blazer but he just has a knack for finding open space and avoiding players and tackle attempts.  Some players just know how to step out of tackles and he's one of them.  Granted we need to see it translate from the Big XII to the NFL now.  Hopefully he sucks now but I hate to say that about a player I loved watching so much in college.

Wentz and teammates are working out in Houston. I can't say that I'm not a little worried.

Was just gonna post the same thing. Metro Texas doesn’t sound like a good place to be right now, especially Houston.

D-Line was too. I get it's easy and convenient for travel and some players (Cox) live there, but you would think they would go to like North Dakota where there is only 3k cases total

Even if any of them test positive we don't have much to worry about.

Good point, hopefully they quarantine themselves away from others

I mean health risks aside, a positive test means isolation and less time working together, which would suck for the young guys.

I think one thing athletes should be very concerned about is the potential they suffer permanent lung damage from the Coronavirus.  I hope Elliott is OK.

If any NFL player is going to test positive and then have diminished lung capacity,  thus missing the season it will be a Philadelphia eagle.  Count on that.

I've been to Houston in the summer.

It's never a good time to be there.

Houston is a pretty big place.

but isn't there a difference in testing positive vs positive with no symptoms?

And saying stuff like this is going to do nothing but keep sides apart. Say what you want but Jenkins had a chance and hate the man or not (Trump) he blew that chance. If he goes and nothing comes of it, hey he tried, but to choose not to try and communicate doesn't solve anything either.

Not sure that is realistic. I think Presidents meeting with teams are just a publicity stunt. He would probably got as much time with Trump as Forrest Gump got with Kennedy or Johnson or Nixon. Not a forum for exchange.  One has to ask, if he has the time to sit down with industry leaders to discuss the economy, shouldn’t he have the time to sit down around a table and discuss things with minority leaders?

Zeke has been extremely careful and has exercised veteran leadership during this quarantine. I’m shocked he tested positive.

We have a little over a month before teams assemble.  It is gonna suck if these kinds of tweets happen the rest of the summer...

Hopefully the extreme stupidity of the Ewok serves to help the rest of the players stay safe.

I'm sure he would have had an opportunity to express himself and to ask for a meeting at a later date at the least.

I doubt if he had run a three cone that it would be as bad as JJAW but I would be surprised if it was any better than Josh Perkins 7.03.  I just don’t see that with Lamb. What I see with him is crisp routes and cuts that put him in position to run away from the DB.  He will be playing a lot against nickels and Ss as the outside corners will likely be on Cooper and Galloway.  As to speed, his ten and twenty yard splits are similar to JJAW.  Both have to learn college moves don’t work as well in the pros. While there are concerns I have about Reagor, it’s not his moves.

I'm curious to see how leagues are going to handle things when players test positive in season, because it's going to happen. I can't imagine things won't get worse again in October/November. This is why I think we will probably see sports resume in July, august, and September, but after that I wouldn't count out another sports shutdown.

Headed to Texas later this week by road.  Wife’s father is ill and she needs to see him. I will be wearing my mask and avoiding contact as much as I can. Frankly pit stops to pee are my biggest fear.  We can disinfect the hotel room pretty easily. That said, no visit with my sister in the mid state between Austin and San Antonio and I told my cousin in Houston not this trip.

Naw, good restaurants and Gavelston and the Gulf of Mexico just down the road.
