Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

It's true.  They pay WAY too much money to their top stars.  How is a baseball player, any baseball player worth $30M per year?

Bill Dewitt bought the cardinals for 150 million they worth today 2.2 billion dollars. So he would be able to make a killing if he sold off his original purchase. he hasn’t sold the team if it weren’t very profitable. I’m guessing he would if he wasn’t making much of a profit for him. Payroll and paying employees when you are getting historic tv deal, merchandise sales and other avenues where they bring in money.

just to point out the Phillies in 2017 had a 87.7 million dollar profit. That to me is pretty profitable for a team that was awful in 2017. And cubs were second with 83. And the Phillies had 325 mil in revenue that year. There’s some teams that aren’t but they also have other circumstances like going into the luxury tax And some other issues they’ve run into like the Yankees and dodgers.

from the second link besides the marlins I’d say profits on average of 50 million per is pretty good

Per the website, MLB profits are at record highs, with the average team operating profit rising 25% this past season to $50 million. The Astros had the highest profit at $99 million and only the Marlins lost money on an operating basis.

Oh Reub... that's hardly a 'clear' choice.  Bring in a 38 year old, who has missed snaps each of the last 3 years to play a position he's never played before with a limited offseason to learn the position.   I mean... I'm being a little crazy focusing on Kyle Long, who is only 31.  He's also had some injury issues, but he's 7 years younger, and has played the position before and at an All-Pro level.

Former blogger, slynch speaking truth there.  Couple things to consider, I think Driscoll was drafted to be the swing T and a backup G.  If he plays at RG, is Prince the swing T?  Don’t sleep on Pryor or Herbig.  Wonder how Juriga plays in as a potential back up C.  High priority UDFA signing.

This team finds new ways to get injured.  Its a joke at this point.

I’m with you i think the 4 most realistic options for the eagles if they go FA route are Klein, person, Leary and long. They are veterans that can come in and compete on one year deals and likely don’t break the bank.

i feel Roob’s answer to anything oline is peters.... it’s like Homer Simpson’s solution to everything was living under the sea

He's letting his personal relationship cloud common sense.  Peters is only the answer to a few questions... who's the best LT in franchise history?  Who is the next Eagles player to get into the HoF?  (Joyner and Allen should, but likely won't at this point.) And who should be the heir apparent to Stoutland as OL coach?  But not "Who should the team sign to play RG?"  I'd consider it if Johnson or Dillard were going to miss the year, but not at OG.

I dont see Driscoll as an NFL OT at all.  His arms are short, but he seems ideal inside, specifically at C.

Prince on the other hand has the body for OT, either side.  He's so raw. But he's got the tools athletically, especially if the knee checks out.  I really see him as a likely starting OT down the road, either here or elsewhere.  I think he has that kind of potential and I think Stout is that good when he has the clay to mold.

It’s ridiculous that allen and Joyner aren’t in the HOF. But i agree i don’t see it happening unless the nfl does something like how Harold got in this past year.

that’s where I’m at with peters. If Dillard or lane got hurt or Dillard just looks awful once we get to camp.. otherwise i rather go after someone else who’s played the position and is younger

Yup, it's time to see what these guys have.  This is a strange year.  I don't think brining a vet in makes sense given so much unknown.  Let the young guys prove themselves.

It would never happen, but how fascinating would a Dillard-Peters-Kelce-Seumalo-Johnson lineup be? Peters literally coaching Dillard on the field lol.

Does Mailata's insane athletic ability make him an option to push in to guard?  Would he be able to learn a whole new position?

The Eagles kept Herbig on the active roster the entire season for a reason. It's obvious they didn't want to try to sneak him onto the practice squad and risk losing him on waivers. So it's obvious they like him. They also promoted Opeta to the active roster late in the season.

My guess is that they'll let those two guys battle it with Pryor and Driscoll, and let the best man win.

I don't think it's going to be given too much consideration. He's spent two full years working on specific footwork related to pass sets from the tackle position. No need to have him start from scratch again when there are other players in line at right guard already.

But if Pryor wins the right guard spot, that could push Mailata up the depth chart at tackle. Which is what they've been aiming for all along.

And that's the real question here isn't it. If they want to keep Carson upright and healthy then they probably need to go and spend on a good FA RG. It's fair from ideal but that's where we are at.

Well, Gerritt Cole is. That's about it.

No Big V as flex lineman, no JP in case Dillard sucks/injured, and can't sign a legit RG to replace Brooks because Howie bungled the cap.

F it, cancel the season.
