Research him some more.  He's not a positionless player.  He's a slot WR who can be moved around creatively.  He played WR at Kentucky, and only moved to QB because the team needed him to, because they had no one else available to play at a high enough level and he was athletic enough to be able to.

Day 1 - he's your top returner and a slot WR.

Down the road, he could move into a lot of creative situations, wildcat QB, 3rd down back, slot WR, etc.   But, that's because of what he actually offers, not because he can't play slot WR at a high level.  He's got speed, quickness and toughness.  Also really good hands.  His route running might be a little raw due to missing a year of development due to playing QB out of necessity.

But, Bowden is not some freakish athlete that the team couldn't figure out how to use... or a QB that was converted to WR.  He's a WR that played QB due to need, not because he couldn't hack it at WR.

Don’t we already have that in Greg Ward?

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

My guess is that his league sources aren’t in Philly.

...or maybe just some "disinformation” from his Philly sources....😉

He is still my number three as I don’t know if I believe the concern with Jeudy.  I do think he is the first round choice with the lowest possibility of a flop.

Would you trade the 2nd plus a future day 2 pick to move up for him?

For Ruggs?

I probably would for Ruggs but would want a mid round pick back this year.

These Philly guys have been leaking Murray to anyone with a Twitter account.

Or he's following Jeremiah's lead and adding to the smokescreen.

Just don't see LB happening imo.

Yep. Gotta love it.

I didn’t like the Lesean McCoy pick.

Similar.  Bowden is a WR who transitioned to QB for a year in the SEC.  Ward is a QB who transitioned to WR over 3 years in the NFL.

I know you are a big Ward fan, but I think Bowden's ceiling is higher.  Bowden was a returner at Kentucky, but Ward wasn't.  So, Ward is trying to become what I think that Bowden already is.  But, Bowden hasn't proven anything... and I wouldn't take him before Round 4... because that's where his value is so high that he needs to be selected.  I think he's a 3rd round prospect, but I wouldn't suggest the Eagles pick him there, even at the end of the 3rd round.

BTW... don't think that I am beating the drum for him.  I'm talking about him as a prospect, not as an Eagles' target.

No.  Rather trade down for the second tier.  Unlike many, I don’t think there is a ton of difference between the first and second tier WRs this year (and for the record, Hamler is a third tier WR).

Yeah I was aware he moved to QB out of necessity, and I'll fully admit I've only watched highlights of him, which was a mix of punt returns, some receiver and a lot of clips of him playing QB. It's not that I don't think he can't play and I'd be okay with them using a late pick on him but absolutely don't want him to be one of the two receivers they take, and I just don't get the excitement. I could be wrong, sounds like I need to go back and watch more.

I never like it when we draft a RB in round 2.  That went for Mccoy and for Sanders.

But I did think both were going to be very good RBs in this offense.  I just hate the value.  Forget round 1, even in round 2.

Guys, we talked about this months ago.  @eagle45 was literally preaching it.

If you look at this roster, this offense, this league and how teams are winning SB's at the current time...  this draft is critical.  If we don't come away with 2 WR's in the first 3 picks, we are going to grind our franchise QB into the turf and waste his prime.

Yeah even though I don't love him, he offers more as a prospect than Ward did. As great as he was in college when evaluating him as a receiver Ward had athletic limitations that I don't think Bowden has. I don't think Bowden is elite there, but he's more athletic and definitely more advanced as a receiver than Ward was coming out.

I've just realized I may be talking myself into him.

Greg was a WR his first year on the field at UH. Spot player but too good to keep, off the field.  He wasn’t a returner because you don’t play your QB on STs. However anyone that watched him run at UH knew he could be and he is now.  Only AAF PR with a return for a TD.  Thing is, we know Greg can play at this level now. Whereas Bowden is a guess.  I think third is too early for him.   I think there will be some value WRs later that can play the slot. Lots of slot WRs in this draft.

Non draft question...

Say that Miles Sanders puts up >1,500 yards of offense in each of the next 2 seasons and makes a probowl or 2.  We are entering the 2022 season.  He has 1 year left on his contract and is looking for big money.  Would you trade him for a first round pick that year?

Don’t worry, I gotchu. I missed out on swing tackle, FS and edge, but overall this added a lot of team speed.

Not that it’s particularly realistic...

Are we Super Bowl 55 and Super Bowl 56 Champions?

Not sure I agree.  Playoff teams really didn’t sport a lot of pro bowl WRs or 1st rounders.

Like I said, I see him as a 3rd round value, but a 4th round target for the Eagles..  specifically the comp picks.

I'm with Green Dog and want to see 2 WRs in the first 3 rounds, and I have hopes for other WRs in Round 3.  I'd also grab John Hightower before Bowden due to need for that pure speed guy on the outside.

That said, I think the odds are better for Bowden at the next level to be an impact guy than Hightower.  But due to fit, Hightower gets the nod from me in Round 4 over Bowden.

Absolutely! He's the best WR in this draft imho and will set Wentz free.

He’s my reasonably realistic guy at 21.
