Bowden is this drafts best all around weapon, imo. Gibson a close second.

Reggie corbin yet another. This us a very deep draft , particularly at the WO position.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Full transparency, I don't watch nearly enough college football to have real informed opinions of most draft picks coming into the process.  I'm far more intrigued by process and philosophy, but in the weeks leading up to the draft, I start reading a whole lot about different players.

But to be honest, I don't usually end up with strong opinions one way or the other with a few exceptions - usually when the process or philosophy gets distorted, I begin to hope we don't do anything stupid to grab that player.

My problem is falling in love with our drafted players after we pick them.  I am famous for rooting for the underdog or the story.  I loved Cornelius Ingram - the pick and the player.

A couple of exceptions where I hated the pick and was right was Jon Harris and Jerome McDougle...with Harris, I remember I was hanging mini blinds listening to the draft on the radio and hated that pick from second one.  With McDougle, I hated why we got him, not necessarily the player.  Panic drafting when you are position desperate and reacting to a run is sure to be a bad decision almost every time.

Which is exactly what I'm worried about with getting too cute with the WRs this draft.  I don't have any real favorites or players I don't want, so what I most want is the Eagles to walk out of the draft with 2 WRs they love, however they get them at the end of the day.  It's one thing to kill them for their player evaluations.  It's a whole other layer to kill them for their draft philosophy/process mistakes on top of it.

Gibson vs Lynn is a good question for the board

I never like it when we draft a RB in round 2.  That went for Mccoy and for Sanders.

But I did think both were going to be very good RBs in this offense.  I just hate the value.  Forget round 1, even in round 2.

I just thought McCoy was way too much of a head case to be counted on. I’ve known too many people that knew him and never heard a positive thing. But I’m sure much could be said about probably at least a dozen players on each team.

His old roommate from Pitt told me if it wasn’t for football there’s no way he’s not in jail.

Rumors flying around that the Raiders and Jags are coming to terms with a trade for Yannick.

Good. I love Yannick but we’re not giving up a 1st. Let the raiders give one up and give them one less pick for a WR before us

So Kiper's latest draft has us passing on Ruggs ... at 21 ...  for Kenneth Murray.

You wouldn't see me around these parts until the regular season started if that happens.

And get ready for the top level below.....

Are we Super Bowl 55 and Super Bowl 56 Champions?

Let’s say no,  not because I think it’s not possible, but because winning a SB throws a nostalgic fog over personnel decisions.

Last mock, would be absolutely thrilled if this is how the draft went

He’s my reasonably realistic guy at 21.

Like his return ability too.

Yeah even though I don't love him, he offers more as a prospect than Ward did. As great as he was in college when evaluating him as a receiver Ward had athletic limitations that I don't think Bowden has. I don't think Bowden is elite there, but he's more athletic and definitely more advanced as a receiver than Ward was coming out.

I've just realized I may be talking myself into him.

Greg Ward has athletic limitations?  As elusive as Bowden.  Has a burst I don’t see with Bowden.  Better QB.  Not sure I see it.  Look, can we improve on Ward in the slot? Yes.  Just not convinced Bowden is an improvement.  And frankly, as a returner, Marcus Green was way better in college.

I would argue that our offense is still really, really slow.

If the top 4 are off the board i think he’s the guy. Felt that way for a while. His speed and big play potential is what they want.

I would be fine with Reagor at 21. You can't trade back and expect him to fall. Way too many teams would take him.

Non draft question...

Say that Miles Sanders puts up >1,500 yards of offense in each of the next 2 seasons and makes a probowl or 2.  We are entering the 2022 season.  He has 1 year left on his contract and is looking for big money.  Would you trade him for a first round pick that year?

I lean towards signing him, but that would depend on a lot of factors. Cap situation being one of the biggest ones.

You are very much making this a Greg Ward vs. Lynn Bowden thing.   That wasn't my intention.  I was talking about him as a prospect separate from the Eagles.  Ward has earned his opportunity to win the slot role out of camp, and the opportunity to win the returner job out of camp (whenever camp is...).

And that Zierlein mock has all 4 top WRs gone in front of us.

Yes, you take Reagor at 21 there.  This year, DAMN the critics crying reach, you take him there and you show Carson's fist pump reaction!

I'll cross that bridge when we come to it.  Far too early to worry about it now.

It isn’t showing on my phone, but I assume your response is an over enthusiastic confirmation that I smashed that draft.

Woof.

Yep. I’m penciling him in at 21. I was on the trade back train but I think that’s too risky at this point. If he’s the guy, take him at your pick. We could trade back in the second if we want more picks

Depends what level of the draft.  Both are day three picks.  Depends on who else is left and who the Eagles have drafted. How about Isaiah Hodgins in the slot. Not tremendous speed but decent quickness, great size and wingspan and body control and catches everything.
