I think there is a definite opposition defiance issue in America.  We also have some really widespread belief systems that are mistrustful of government.  I think this runs from white supremacists to religious groups.  I think it has been exacerbated by some groups actively fomenting dissent and misinformation.  I mean I had a person tell me they didn't want to get a Covid test because they believed the test was fake.  It is a scheme to insert a microchip.  They further expressed to me the belief that the microchip was the mark of the beast.  This was someone who has a HS diploma and has worked for most of his life.  They are an average functioning citizen.

Proving the quote by George Carlin to be absolutely true.

"Imagine the dumbest person you know and realize most of America is twice as dumb as that."

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Wow.  I try my best to understand the mentality of this age group, but this entitlement and "I don't give a F about anybody but myself" mentality is disgusting.  He demands a trade (which he shouldn't have a right to do), then he actually LISTS the damn teams that he would like to play for.  I'd like to see what's going on in Joe Douglas's head.  Honestly I hope he trades him to Jacksonville or another non-contender.  Then he is asking for a totally unreasonable new contract.

There are millions of people like this in the country right now, and they're the reason why COVID will spike again in the next few weeks.

**That being said..........I still want him on the Eagles.  👀

This is probably the majority of the country, you and I just don't get tested.

Getting back to the Vikings championship game and the 44-6 game against the Cowboys. Those two games had something in common, something very rare. They were basically two parts of the Triple Crown of Eagles Big Game Blowouts where the from about the middle of the third quarter til the end of the game, the crowd was in the midst of a love fest. It was a relaxed jubilation. No stress whatsoever. No one had to worry anymore, and everyone was just having a great time. It was like an hour long festive party. Most games aren't like that, even great games. There's usually tension in the air throughout with heavy drama at every turn.

The third game like that was the Lions playoff game when we were ahead by about fifty points in the second half. It still bothers me a little that they let the Lions score a bunch of touchdowns late in the game to make the score appear closer than it was.

As a football player, I can understand him trying to get as much as possible.  Any play these guys can get hurt and their career may be over.  So im all about getting every dollar you can.  But $20 mill is not happening.  Clowney wanted something similar and he's still unsigned.  Not to mention he's a DE which is a more important position than Safety.

He'll learn the hard way unless some team is stupid enough to give up a 1st and maybe more while giving him a contract that pays $20 + million a year.

Other than BOB in Houston, I don't any other team giving up top compensation + 20mil a year.

Yep, no way sports are coming back and staying back over the next few months. Every day it's a new star athlete, or several athletes from a college program testing positive. It was a nice thought that once we started opening up everything would be peaches and cream, but now reality is quickly setting in.

It was a given we would have a spike once things opened back up.  I haven't heard one report yet where an athlete that tested positive as of recent has A. shown symptoms or B. had to be hospitalized.

We need to stop looking at doom and gloom.  Yes, the virus is still out there and it's still a threat but if we continue to be smart we should be OK.

Being realistic is looking at the actual stories.  Like I said above, the majority, if not all of these cases show no symptoms and require no hospitalization.  The worst being a low-grade fever.  It's not bad to look at things in a positive light. Regarding the UCLA situation, I'm more worried about players just outright demanding things now.  That's the lesson being learned lately.  Demand and threaten.

From 3 of the stories (of teams willing to share information).

-According to the school, the majority of those testing positive were asymptomatic, and no one has thus far required hospitalization.

-The one unidentified Buccaneers assistant who tested positive is asymptomatic, sources said.

-General manager Julien BriseBois said in a statement that the players have been self-isolating and "are asymptomatic other than a few cases of low-grade fever."

Sports are already being played in Europe.

America is in a worse spot.

With so many statues, monuments, military bases being removed/renamed, I wonder if Washington finally changes their name. The Red Tails would seem to be a nice compromise, to honor the Tuskegee airmen. They can turn an obviously negative name into a positive one pretty easily.

Snyder really shouldn’t care about tradition of the franchise; Jack Kent Cooke built that team into what it was — Snyder really hasn’t contributed anything towards winning.

The Capitals and Nationals have both re-branded with big success.  The Redskins could follow their lead and do the same; just don’t go with Wizards, because that is dreadful.

I like Senators, Generals, or Nationals.

I had a discussion with an election lawyer a few days ago. He was telling me about a reporting scheme that PACs in my state can use to avoid disclosing donors.  My question to him was does it matter anyway.  I mean it's not like there's some trail of dark money that should surprise us on a candidate.

Sure why not end it all - we're all going to die anyway.

Sure it matters. I don’t shop at certain businesses or buy certain products because of positions taken by their owners that I don’t want to supply them with money to support.

No. It’s not just the athletes, who are young and strong. It’s their families, who may be elderly or sick. It’s the fans and their families and the overburdened health care system. The word continue does not belong in any discussion of us being smart.

I knew as soon as Alshon caught that bomb at the end of the 2nd quarter it was over.

I was feeling good at that point, I don’t know about thinking it was over at that point.

I was at the NFCCG against Minnesota a couple years ago and the bolded above is exactly what the feeling in the crowd was. No stress, no anxiety, no pessimism, just pure joy. I was hugging and high-fiving random people I'd never met before in my life. It's my favorite sporting experience ever and I never saw so many people happy at the same time. It was really something. That represented everything that the power of sports have over people.

Yeah. A seventeen point lead at halftime is nice, but it's not quite there yet. Leads like that have been lost many times. It really wasn't until the Torrey Smith flea-flicker touchdown that put them up 31-7 that I felt it was pretty secure.
