Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Its a hindsight thing. Id never want them to miss the playoffs because once in, you never know whats going to happen.

With that being said, if you told me they would make the playoffs, but would lose game 1 or 2, id prefer to finish around 500 and get a pick in the top 15.

That's where you lose me.  Because there's always a chance in the playoffs.  And there's also always the chance that these guys who can't find the right guy at 20 or 22 also won't be able to find the right guy in the top 15.  Manu posted the list of players that other teams in a similar situation to the Eagles (outside the top prospects) that teams traded up into the top 10 to grab... and it was a wasteland of bad evaluations.   So, give me the playoffs and then find better scouts or front office guys who can find the right guys past that point in the draft to make the team better.

Self fulfilling prophecy by the fans. They convinced themselves that's happening again this year even though Higgins is projected to still be available.

Im not saying there is no talent outside of the top guys. But, Higgins is not Ruggs, and we are this close <-> to Ruggs.

Any chance they take Higgins 1st and hope Reagor is there in the 2nd?

I would do that and trade up for Reagor, or Hamler, or Aiyuk. Whoever is left. But secure the guy who projects as a legit #1 first.

Not everyone shares your view of Higgins.  Gil Brandt specifically said that he's a guy that will go much later than fans think.   We'll see.  I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't selected tonight.

Dream scenario.

I think a underlining issue as well we continue to not have a ton of picks. This year we have 8 which is a high for us over the last couple years. Looking at teams that tend to have success late in the first and late in rounds they tend to make trade backs or trades to acquire more and more picks scattered in different parts of rounds. I feel like the Steelers and patriots normally have like 10-12 picks and all of them are scatter in the rounds from high in the round to low. It’s something I’d love for the eagles to start doing.

That's interesting. I could see Higgins profiling as your more traditional #1, but the Eagles desperately needing what Reagor and to a lesser extent Hamler provide.

Brady is lucky he didnt walk into some strangers house where the owner was inside with a gun. Florida is like the wild wild west...

Or lucky he didn't walk into Carol F'n Baskin's house

To go a step further, I'd be surprised if he were picked today. Would slate him to go in the 40s tbh

I actually keep a journal of who i would’ve taken and who the eagles took. Sometimes i agree with their pick. It’s interesting to see how many you get right and they got wrong and vice versa. Or times you were both right or both wrong.

I agree.  Last year I wanted Josh Jacobs.  Worked out cuz they got Sanders anyway in the 2nd.  Never thought they'd take Dillard.  2017 they took Sid Jones when I believe Joe Mixon was still available, which is who I wanted.

I know not everyone does.  Too jaded by inaccurate mocks. And didn't someone tell media they are more wrong than ever this year?

Well, your scenario has a loser mentality stench to it.  So, I'll take the dream.

"I'd rather lose games to pick in the top 10 than make the playoffs."  Yeah, hard pass on that type of thinking.

Kempski mentioned in the Trent Williams article the idea of packaging Dillard with the 21st pick to trade up and select presumably a WR. This is something I wondered the Eagles would consider doing over the last few days. I think the Eagles are pretty down on Dillard... something to watch for sure.

Why do you think this?

Apparently he dropped weight and did a "virtual pro-day” and had his 40 time clocked by 2 independent sources...in the 4.3 range.

It was 4.22 and 4.28 but take that with the biggest grain of salt on earth. It was probably in the 4.3's

Like I said... we'll see.

I'm down for Higgins, but not at 21.

And higgins. Bonafide deep threat to the maximum.  But I would instantly follow him up with thre best speedster left and trade up if you need to secure it just in case,  to make sure you have that speed as well.

You get your #1 WR of which there are none left after Higgins, and you get your speed you need.  Both will be deep threats.

Honestly the jags are going to get him. They are going to be awful. I don’t see another team remotely close to how bad they are going to be. I would’ve said the panthers if they went with Allen or grier even with mccaffrey, Moore. But signing bridgewater they’ll go 6-10 to 8-8 and take themselves out of it

It’s gonna be a weird year because typically the top of the draft is full of teams that need QBs... makes sense being that they suck because they don’t have QBs. But I actually think a bunch of the QB needy teams are gonna be middle to bottom of the draft. Saints, Steelers, potentially Bucs if Brady looks shot, Colts, Bears.

I think the early favorites for the top pick are the Jags and Redskins

I was hoping cook fell to them that’s who i wanted but he went before our pick. I was ok with jones considering the upside he had to be a legit no. 1 corner if he recovered. At that point we weren’t expecting super bowl or bust so you could take the risk in building the team. I did love mixon just hated what he did. That said the guy i really loved that year was Kareem hunt. Amazingly reid has took him and hardman who i lived over the last couple years.

if we didn’t move up for dillard, i really wasn’t in love with anyone at 25 but I’d have gone Montez sweat or brown. Lean more towards brown

You must be quoting someone else. I never said that. But I see your brought your a-hole attitude from one board to the next. Hopefully it doesnt last here.

If Reagor can run a 4.22 40 then Hamler can run a 4.17

Are there any WRs that the Eagles have no shot at because he's too high up?

Yup he's fast.  Granted I don't think we shouldn't overreact to good 40 times any more than we should to bad ones, but paired up with the separation he shows on "tape" (aka Youtube highlights for me) I buy 4.28 a lot more than 4.47.

Lamb I think is the only 100% no chance.
