I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

That's incomplete fertilization.  Break it off and the plant will put out more female flowers.

cut sheets are my life blood. I always have some little project going on and with things like a pergola it is your best bet to create organized cut sheets. Draw out the design (you dont have to be an artist) or find one online and make a check box cut sheet. Measure it out before you buy materials. measure it out before you start cutting for the build. measure it as you progress just to make sure everything is fitting in place. I feel like you can totally figure out a pergola yourself (its just 4 secured posts with a square frame and layers)... Also, there is zero shame in using the internet to find plans or youtube to see how it is done. Even when i feel pretty sure about how I am doing something, i will sometimes go online just to feel 100% about it.

Thanks this is helpful. Ill go look up some vids see if i can find one that makes sense.

beat me to it i was gonna say it sounds like pollination issues 👍

You might want to remove some leaves to open the plant up to pollinators.   Any leaf that touches the ground should be removed.  Any leaf that crosses back over the plant should be removed.  You want the plant to go more vertical and opening it up a little makes the flowers more visible to pollinators.

Alternatively, you can cut a male flower off, remove the petals to expose the stamen, and then use it like a paint brush to pollinate the female flowers by hand.  But, you need to do that early in the morning... the flowers close up after a few hours, to then reopen the next day.

Sorry I like watching sports for just the games

I watch the news to get my politics

I pay to watch football and hopefully no talk about politics and racism

That looks unlikely now

Which sucks

I just dont trust AI with my health. The doctor has a major advantage having eyes and ears.

It’s just a headline. If you click it then you can read the actual article. Just makes more sense to post that with the board formatting it and showing the title rather than a long URL.

Reddit is the dark web if there ever was one.

They tried to make us go there so we helped start this.

We don't want to know what is going on there or we wouldn't have built this board.

Why does every big city mayor have a job with the thousands of protestors in close proximity that are also probably spreading it like crazy right now. Not just the people who go to Home Depot or the beach.

This has a ready been covered in earlier posts on this discussion but studies have shown that protestors arent spreading covid because theyre wearing masks!

Wear a mask while in public peeps.

AI is not a substitute for humans, rather, it can replace a lot of the routine work.

Having to waste a doctor's time with routine Q & A, where he's half asleep b/c he does this twenty times a day, with AI that will screen for all these things and focus the Doctor's attention on anomalies that should be investigated further will improve health care, efficient use of the doctor's time, etc.

In fact, you could probably replace the GP with AI and a skilled nurse practitioner, and then refer the Doctor the patients and issues that actually require his expertise.

Yes, absolutely. All of the thousands and thousands across the country are ALL wearing masks. They also follow strict protocol at all times and follow it up with hand sanitizer with anything they touch or throw at police, and ALL of those masks are N95 or better. Dude, spin the wheel again.

Yes, wear a mask in public, but saying the protestors aren't spreading it is some major bull.

In terms of screening mammograms, AI may outperform radiologists:

Ok, well, this has been fun but I'm out if this is just going to be CVON blog.

Good lord.

Since you are a physician/surgeon and in the field, I was wondering if software could be used to handle many cases. Annually I do a panel of labwork with some scanning ( a bunch of bloodwork, chest xray, abdominal UTZ, ECG ), just throw that into the machine for a diagnosis or possibilities from all the combinations/relations between the data. Not sure I explained it properly. I get all this labwork done for about $100, I’m in the Philippines and this is probably the best run business I’ve experienced here as a consumer. So AI as my primary care doctor, what do you think ? Robotic surgeries on the horizon

That's the future of medicine.  No telling when we'll get there.

You could input a bunch of results and exam findings into google, right now, and you'll get a highly reliable diagnosis.  It takes some training to know what the right terms are to input and how to sift through results, but machine learning is already making progress.  In radiology, you can already (in research, not in practice) have AI give you an interpretation and differential diagnosis for a complex imaging study like MRI.

Robotic surgeries are already here.  The DaVinci robot is in most hospitals and is fantastic for certain applications.  Robotic surgery is an interest of mine.  It's the future, but what's the cliche?  2 steps back 1 step forward?  It's about 10 steps back to take 100 steps forward in several generations.  So it is challenging to incorporate into practice right now.

You say that because your colleagues haven't figured out how to sue AI yet.  Give them time.

It's a game changer.  It's challenging to roll out though.

It still isn't ready and the exact amount of radiology supervision needs to be carefully determined.  The other issue is the handicap this will place on training.  This crutch will reduce the number of qualified people to do these things unassisted.

The initial goal for AI/robotic involvement should be to enhance the reliability of the non-specialized community doc who sees lower numbers of various pathology to the level of a high volume expert in the field.

But this is definitely the future.

I never see any ads, unless we are referring to most content in the blog recently, I don't know what people are referring to.
