He'd better be; Newton is basically cooked.  They're starting over if Stidham doesn't perform.

I think they recognise they are starting over though.

For repeat offenders those penalties seem low

New England also got fined $1.1 million today and stripped of a third round pick for the camera fiasco in Cincinnati. I think part of the Newton signing was a diversion from that. Both stories basically broke simultaneously earlier today.

Everything that Belichek and Brady achieved has an asterisk next to it for me.  They've been caught cheating again and again and again.  If I were a HoF voter, they would NEVER get my vote.  I know they will get in, because the scandal that would be raised if they are held out would be something that the NFL couldn't really navigate.  AND... all the other Patriots players from that era would have to be equally blackballed.   But, that's how I feel.  Nothing they achieved is immune from the stain of their cheating.  And I will continue to bristle every time either one of those cheaters are talked about as being 'the GOAT'.  Sorry.  GOATs don't have to cheat to be the GOAT.  They are slime.  From the salary cap skirting with the TB12 crap, to the video taping, to the deflating, back to video taping AGAIN!!!  Yeah, they not only got caught cheating, but CONTINUED TO DO IT!!!  They are the slimiest organization in the history of football.  I defy anyone to find a single example that even comes close to rivaling that.

That would make you a squirrel. You cheat, that gives you an unfair advantage over other teams. Which also would make it look like you have some magical power to maximize strengths and weaknesses. If I can tell you ahead of time where to be and where a play is going I could probably coach you to be a good player

Nah... they've only been caught numerous times cheating and cheating and cheating.   Its not that they cheat, they are just the best coaches ever.    Except that when any of those 'great coaches' go somewhere else, EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. has fallen flat on his face.  So, maybe they aren't such great coaches, maybe they are great cheaters.  Nothing complicated about that.  They are the greatest cheaters in the history of the sport, possibly the world.

Can't understand why NE signed Newton.  If he is truly damaged goods, what good or value does he give to that team?  Like him or hate him, Billichick is no dummy.  He won't do this to help Newton.  He signed troubled players before, but those were players who could play but had other problems.  He also found players to fit the team needs.  Can't say he does not have eyes for talents.  Puzzling move.

Disagree. Even if he didn't cheat failed over and over, he still will have shown the willingness to change both his offense and defense based on personnel. Most coaches are somewhat stubborn and just run what they know.

I am not commenting on his success, so cheating has nothing to do with it. I am commenting on his willingness to be flexible.

You are saying that his willingness to be flexible is what made him successful.    Flexibility without success is sort of irrelevant.

Well we'll just disagree then, because I could be flexible too if I knew ahead of time what the other team was going to do. HE TAPED THE FREAKING BENGALS

It helped a lot. He cheated too.

He can be a really good coach who also cheats, the 2 are not exclusive.

If its true, and probably is that Brady took ao4 out a football for an advantage, that means he cheated. He is also a really good player as well.

I think he honestly has something wrong mentally. Like a wealthy person who shoplifts. He absolutely has to gain every advantage he can, even by cheating, and even if he doesn't need to.

It’s basically a free look at a QB who you can win with. If he’s damaged goods, no real loss. If he’s healthy, he’s a good quarterback.

Maybe teams in March and April weren’t comfortable with his medical and it was difficult to project where he’d be health-wise. Meanwhile, the QB musical chairs ended with really only New England being barren at the position.

A really good coach doesn't feel the need to cheat.  So, he forfeits any acknowledgement from me for his ability to coach.
A really good player that has to manipulate the tools of the game to give himself an advantage also forfeits any acknowledgement from me for his ability as a player as well.

Ok, they are both terrible.

Other teams should actually complain to the league that Pats have been caught many times now. The penalty should be more severe than what it is. Kind of surprised I haven’t seen anything. Is it because Kraft has a lot of sway within the owners?

Hopefully in a couple of years that organization will cease to be relevant.  A couple of 6-win seasons and retirement for most of them.

History will remember them much more favorably than I would like, but to me they will always be Counterfeit Bill, Shady Brady, and "John" Kraft.

Same owner. Same coach. The whole time. They should get hammered IMO. I want almost nothing more than to see them terrible for a very long time.

Will never happen.  If the NFL were to come down on them like that, that's an admission that they've been far too permissive in the past.  And that calls into question all their previous "accomplishments", so the NFL will continue to merely slap their wrists.

Such a lame effort, but the commissioner's office is in too deep with them to actually come out and be on top of things now.   And it was a great acting job by Kraft to come out after that one 'wrist slap' to say how upset about he was about these.  All part of the charade.  Kraft had to get outraged at one penalty to act like the league was being tough.  The reality is that they have been compliant the whole time.

Well the punishment ha already been handed down so it is what it is. But can you imagine another incident this season? At some point the league will need to stop doubling down on the wrist slaps.

I thought that point had been met a LONG time ago.  The point that the league actually does something is AFTER Kraft sells and/or AFTER Belicheat retires.   And it will be largely symbolic rather than meaningful.  The damage has been done, the history of the league has already been compromised, and I'll forever have to hear that two slime balls cheaters are 'the GOAT' as a HC and as a QB.

Something like that, figure AI could sort the data into various outcomes and specify further testing if warranted. Nurse practitioners can manage the routine stuff after a firm diagnosis. Again, 18% of GDP is way too much.Get rid of the profit, more efficient administration and lessen the redundancy and do something about the liability insurance like E45 said, maybe more peer reviews on a routine basis

USA is the largest destination medical provider by far. Rich from the world over come to US seeking medical care.  Suspect that and pharmaceutical costs play a part in that 18%.

The only way to get medical malpractice insurance down is with tort reform.  It works. Look at the reduction in medical malpractice rates in CA since Medical Compensation Injury Reform Act went into law.  Premiums decreased every year.  MCIRA and its kin are hated by plaintiff attorneys because it caps awards for non economic damages, pain and suffering and the like.  CO does that in all cases and has lower insurance costs that other states because of that.  It really takes the guesswork out of it for a jury.  I also like that a portion of punitive damages goes to the state in CO.   Now the best economic caps should have and do have limitations for deliberate and with malice behavior.  The caps should have an automatic adjustment for inflation.

Since the progressives want to have the government place limits on what doctors, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies can charge with Medicare for All and kill off medical insurers after limiting the amount of profit those insurers could make in the ACA, they should be all for taking the tort tax down a few notches.  All of a sudden American manufacturing can be profitable.  Most folks don’t realize it but if a Chinese manufacturer has no location in the US, they can’t be touched. Plaintiff lawyers don’t care, they go after the distributor or the retailer. Fine if it is Amazon or Walmart.  Not so great if it is Bob’s Hobby Shop.  Another reason it is cheaper to manufacture some things overseas.  Let’s see Progressives get behind non economic caps.

Now AFan argues that the litigation acts as a way of regulating industry.  That is true but to what extent?  Plastic bags that items come in have warnings they aren’t toys and are a suffocation risk.  Really, we needed that?   I have a thirty year old aluminum ladder.  The tool shelf says, this is not a step.  So does the top of the ladder. I have a relatively new ladder that must have a dozen warnings on it.  We needed that?  Have you ever bought something that had a warning on it where you thought nobody could be so stupid?  We need that?  My mother-in-law had COPD and a bunch of other things wrong with her. In 2019 she was hospitalized.  They wanted to perform tests on her she had literally had performed a week before.  Why?  Because if they trusted those tests and didn’t perform new ones, they could be sued for not having performed those tests if something went wrong. This is from a patient and her family that are acknowledging she had for conditions and the real question was which one was going to take her. Those tests weren’t necessary to her treatment.  She went in for a respiratory illness and they were seeking stress tests for her heart condition.  Nonsense. There are a few lawyers and handicapped people that target small businesses in CA for ADA compliance. Toilet not 100% compliant, letter with threat of violation cost per day.  Ramp a degree off? Same deal. Are handicapped people really being denied access? No, but the regulations are specific and allow for private attorneys general.  It is a shakedown scam.  We need that sort of regulation?  Now we are seeing the ADA being weaponized against masks.  Right ambition, wrong law.

To be honest we don’t know if mcleod is able to play the single high safety role at the level we need him to anymore. he might be better this year with slay and another year removed from his knee injury but there’s also the possibility he just isn’t what he was pre-injury and isn’t suited for single high safety role at the level needed anymore.

Then we better hope Epps has improved. Only Ss with speed to play single high regularly are McLeod, Epps and Wallace.

Great point, even Police Officers, maybe they should be licensed and tested?

Great idea.  If we license claim adjusters, beauticians and barbers and require continuing education, we should for police officers. Pretty sure PA requires the latter. They certainly do (and should) for firefighters and EMTs.
