None of the unions get players what they’re truly worth. The minimum wage overpays fringe players and the luxury tax suppresses what good to great players make.

Minimum wages are actually too low, as entry-level contracts are bargains. "team control" means that while yes some fringe players are underpaid, other superstars get significantly less than they should. Look at Dak.

The cap and taxes are always going to be team-friendly.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Brandon Graham just tackled Aaron Jones for a four-yard loss on a run play. I’d love to see how many run tackles for a loss of 3 or more yards he has compared to other DEs. I’d have to imagine he’d rank fairly high. It’s not as exciting as sacking a quarterback, but those are big plays.

That’s pretty wild.

If minimum wages were too low then they would be paid more. This is basic supply and demand. The fact is that the less talent you have, the more fungible you become. Without the minimum wage nearly every pro sports minimum wage earner would be making less, not more, than they do. Think about it — how many guys making $500K on MLB minimum wage would take $400K per year if there were no minimum wage? How many would take $300 or $200?

One of the greatest and classiest players to not have a ring.

I hope to be able to attend the game when he’s inducted into the Eagles hall of fame.

The Eagles’ win over Green Bay is on NFLN right now if anyone is bored.

I think Sendejo knew he was getting cut and went after Maddox on that hit.

Because MLB has stupid guaranteed contracts.

I don't think MLB owners are hurting for money.

Minimum wages are fixed because of the way the draft picks are slotted. Players can't negotiate up even if they're worth more. It's not a free market. The scenario you're describing can't exist in a world in which there are "drafts". That's why international soccer has the most "fair" system to players.

Right, so again, the union has failed to deliver market worth to all sides. Top end rookies have unrealized earnings potential.

And I 100% agree with you about soccer. That is exactly where I was going with this. The European model really is the most "fair” (from a market perspective, clearly not a league competitive standpoint) system for pro sports.

It's like a nervous tick with Caplan saying "BTW"...

Can you imagine him in confession?  "...forgive me father, for my sins."  And as the priest is about to speak, "BTW father, I've been told she was over 18."

Not sure how great ones performance is when ones team loses.

As great as timmy browns stats were on that game and as good as bryce browns were those were both losses.

The rest i agree with except for the guy no one has ever heard of from 1934 who played against the reds?

Get out of here with that,im sure there have been more relevant rushing performances than from 1934

I've started to notice his positive scouting reports from whoever he talks is literally the same for every player.

"So I was talking to my scouting sources the other day and they said this kid can run and he's tough as bleep."

So at lunch time today I take a ride on my bike. I usually like to work some cardio in at lunch. Minding my own business when a wasp or hornet flies right in my mouth and stings my tongue in like a millisecond. I was moving along at a decent pace so the only thing I could do was quickly spit whatever it was out. Tongue swelled up and now I'm talking with a lisp (temporarily I hope) Just glad it didn't fly into my throat. I guess that will teach me to be a mouth breather.

I don't think it's a union failing; it's a competitive balance priority. Soccer has more super-teams because the rich teams can just outspend everyone. With no cap, you know before every year whether your team has a shot or not. That's what made Leicester City winning the Premier League so incredible.

If the NFL had a true free market, the Eagles would be top 10 every year.

And yet, we will most likely still get some sort of "fire Doug Pederson” thread at some point during the season in TATE.  <_<

How could we be bored with all that's going on in the world of sports right now...

Doug has shown to be a great crisis commander. The s*** has hit the fan with this team for three seasons straight and he's managed to keep them winners and competitive. For once, I'd like to see what this team can do with with no season-ending injuries to key players and that's already toast this year with losing Brooks.
