He was a high-profile free agent. The Mets signed him to a massive contract, part of which required a yearly payment of a million dollars for many, many years. He ended up being a disappointment, but he still gets paid every year.

Bonilla was a better producer offensively than Barry Bonds was in PIT from 1987 through 1991.  Switch-hitter with good power, but his defensive game was lousy.

The folks who try to rewrite history by saying Bonds didn’t benefit greatly from his steroid abuse do the game a great disservice.  Before steroids Bonds was an excellent multi-tool player who combined speed and power, but abusing steroids bloated his numbers at least 25-30% from his pre-steroid abuse.  Ken Griffey Jr. was always a better player — and clean.

Mets should have known better than to throw money at Bonilla because he was all offense and little defense by the time they signed him.  He was a decent player with the Mets, so it wasn’t the worst FA signing, but he was on the down side already.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

So at lunch time today I take a ride on my bike. I usually like to work some cardio in at lunch. Minding my own business when a wasp or hornet flies right in my mouth and stings my tongue in like a millisecond. I was moving along at a decent pace so the only thing I could do was quickly spit whatever it was out. Tongue swelled up and now I'm talking with a lisp (temporarily I hope) Just glad it didn't fly into my throat. I guess that will teach me to be a mouth breather.

hey that was free protein!! Naw I’m glad it only swelled up and hopefully it subsided in a couple of hours. Did you take anything for it?

Lol, true. My mom was in Florida at the time playing BINGO with my grandmother during the first half of that game. She couldn’t follow the score at the time. When she got back to my gram’s place, she quick rushed to turn on the TV to find the score at the half was 35-0. She called me and asked me where I was and I told her I was in my seat. She asked me if I was effing crazy lol.

Brandon Graham just tackled Aaron Jones for a four-yard loss on a run play. I’d love to see how many run tackles for a loss of 3 or more yards he has compared to other DEs. I’d have to imagine he’d rank fairly high. It’s not as exciting as sacking a quarterback, but those are big plays.

Sacks are highly overrated, they can be influenced by both your linemates (flushing the QB to you) and your DBs (making the QB hold the ball).

Which is why you have to look at five things, tackles (how active), pressures (making QBs uncomfortable), Hits (even a half second late, QB starts looking for you), sacks and stuffs (negative yardage plays have big impacts).

Sacks are just a part of the story.

And you need the eyeballs, does he seal the edge (take away the outside run and the QB scramble, doesn't show up on the stat sheet, but is important), does he have lane discipline, does he defeat blocks.

Yup.

The McVay vs. Peterson stuff is interesting to me. People forget how great of a situation McVay walked into. He had the previous year's #1 pick in the draft and a super talented roster that Jeff Fisher squandered. He had one of the greatest DCs of all time running his defense. He was able to combine those strengths with a flash-in-the-pan offensive system and you saw the results. What adversity had he really faced prior to 2019? How do you explain the 2 playoff eggs he laid? Sean McVay is like James Harden -- flashy and overwhelming at times, but not the type of guy you want in the championship game.

For one reason or another, Doug has had to scratch and claw since Carson Wentz went down in 2017. His only 2 playoff losses were injury-plagued super close games against teams that have had the Eagles number for 10 years. Without the Alshon Jeffery drop in 2018, the Eagles would've gone to the Super Bowl that year (I know that's not a fact, but come on -- Foles is beating the Rams in that conference championship game.). Doug is a winner. You can throw out regular season win percentages all you want; would you rather have Andy Reid's Eagles run or Tom Coughlin's Giants run?

Was going to recommend that. I stepped on a yellow jacket barefoot and my foot swelled. Benadryl helped it a little.

Lol the perps statements to TMZ sounds like hes reading them from a lawyer prepared statement.

"He threatened bodily harm to my person" isnt common vernacular for most people nor for most bar hopping sucker punchers.😒

Great, now i cant do my supplemental mock draft. 2020 keeps getting worse

Yup, i think Graham is one of the most criminally underrated DEs in the league.

He wrecks running plays to his side constantly creates pressure from the outside and can move inside on passing downs and create pressure.

Hes just really good at a lot of stuff that either doesnt show up in the stat sheet or isnt as valued by pro bowl voters as sacks are.

Not to mention his high motor infectious positive attitude and apparently non stop mouth.

Ill take brandon graham on my team any day of the week twice on sunday and in any superbowl😎

good point, im not sure what current conditions would keep gms from telling whoever runs the supplemental draft who and in what round they want that player, and then for that draft official to award teams those players.

On average the supplemental draft is only a handful of players if that.

Maybe the nfl forgot to pay their phone bill???

Hopefully this ends up permanent. No need for 4 preseason games. 2 is enough.

I don't think it's a union failing; it's a competitive balance priority. Soccer has more super-teams because the rich teams can just outspend everyone. With no cap, you know before every year whether your team has a shot or not. That's what made Leicester City winning the Premier League so incredible.

If the NFL had a true free market, the Eagles would be top 10 every year.

Right, but if we are talking about "true worth” and unions, then how does a union that deliberately bargains for a CBO which overpays low end players and under pays high end players fulfill a true worth directive?

This is really what unions in general are about: using the collective bargaining as a group to gain what lower end individuals could not obtain on their own.

Anyone heard the rumours that the college season is going to be delayed until the spring?
