As an owner of an electric car, it's great if you're only driving in your city. You drive throughout the day and charge when you get home. It's very convenient.

I would advise against it if you take long road trips. The full distance can be limited and you're planning around electric stations. Charging at electric stations is slower than gas stations.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Sure.  Baseball games now cost a family of 4 about $200 when you add tickets, parking, food... it's ridiculous.  So, yeah, owners are making too much money too.

Honestly I really think it depends on where you go to see a baseball game. Philadelphia, New York, Boston, LA and San Francisco it’s probably higher. But in Arizona I can get tickets at Costco third baseline good seats two for $60. Or if I go to the stadium I can get outfield seats for $27-30. Heck if you go for getaway day beer and hot dogs are 2 bucks. Granted it’s the diamondbacks and they tend to not be great or anyone care about them.

Best stadium I ever gone to is Petco Park in San Diego. if you’re a student they give you a great discount  If not you can get great seats in that stadium for under 35 bucks. And the weather is amazing and the view from anywhere in that stadium is awesome.

My family are car people, my brother is a mechanic has a 67 mustang that he values more than his kids, not kidding😒

I look at cars as a means of getting me from point A to point B.

When i lived in SF having a well maintained road bicycle was more useful to me than a car.

I like ferraris never been in one, unless need for speed II counts😊

I like the look of dodge challengers, my bro says hell cats are cool, i guess😎

I have a friend that has a tesla, i have no idea what kind, its black😕 real smooth ride. Best thing is no mechanics, oil changes stuff like that, just tire and battery changes and thats it,  no more dealing with that pesky 710 cap😉

Id say it beats talking politics but i like politics though its better than talking baseball😴

Love the challengers. I'm  actually in process of purchasing a 2020 Mustang GT supercharged,  lots of car for the money.

JUST IN: #USC reverses course and announces that its undergrads will primarily take online classes this fall. This development obviously casts doubt on the fate of the Trojans' 2020 college football season

They just scream "LOOK AT ME” too much for my tastes. Porsche has their signature look, and I think Ferrari generally does a good job of creating aggressive yet elegant styling, while Lamborghini goes completely over the top with enormous wings and air scoops. Lamborghini will definitely get the most people gawking at you. To use an analogy, Ferrari is wife material you take home to the parents and can introduce to your boss while Lambos are the slutty mistress who shows too much skin when you go out to dinner. To give an example, these are the entry level models (starting around $200, more like $250 with options) for Lambo and Ferrari:

I drive a scion XB it has 3 car seats in the back, its the smallest car we could find that could fit 3 car seats cuz we didnt want a mini van or a giant SUV. The XB has been good to us though, handles well, good power, economical cant complain.

I like Mustangs though as well, never really had the need or desire for a muscle or sports car, maybe if i lived in montanna or was a drag racer, but crusin to the supermarket to get milk in my suped up car seems like a waste of all that car😎

$60 for 2 tickets = $120 for 4 tickets.  Add parking, and some food... and you are pushing $200 even in AZ.

Great seats in Petco Park for a family of 4... $35 each = $140 for 4.  Plus parking, and food... pushing $200.   Like I said, baseball (MLB, obviously) for a family of 4 is roughly $200.   And that's not counting those 'souvenirs' that kids love to have and parents love to give them.

All this car talk and somebody needs to inject a Tesla into the conversation to piss off the purists...

My cousin bought a Tesla this past winter.  He let me try it.   If you want, the car can almost drive itself. Such a clean dash, everything on the computer screen.  May be the most intense and smoothest acceleration I have every experienced.  I would say  comparable to the old Dodge 440 police interceptor.  (When I was young I had a friend with a Barracuda with that engine and a Hurst on the floor.  Breathe on the accelerator and the car was going sixty. Hard to keep it down in residential neighborhoods in third gear.  Then the 1973 oil embargo hit and......).  The Tesla rides smooth and quiet and is an extremely smart and safe vehicle. My sister has been driving a Bolt for three years now.  The range and amount of charging stations needs to improve before I am ready to go because of my wanderlust.  90% of the miles on my 3 1/2 year old CRV are trip miles.   But the day is coming.

Transmissions have become so good that manual doesn’t make much sense. The CRV is the first automatic I bought for me. (My sister’s Bolt is her first automatic). The hydraulic clutches in later models were so much better than the old ones without.  I have tried paddle "shifters” and even the version of paddle shifters on the floor.  They are placebos in my mind.  More like a toggle switch than a shifter

I learned to drive manual in an old pickup with three on the tree at fifteen. I worked for a landscaper and that is what he had. Fun truck.  The choke didn’t work so to start it, you opened the hood, took the wingnut and air filter top off and wedged a cut down broomstick onto the carburetor.  We had simulators in driver’s education at my high school that included time with three on the tree. We would "drive” along with a movie that was to train us on how to react to bad situations like a car pulling out from a driveway in front of you.  I remember one film was going around a big curve and sliding the right wheels onto the gravel shoulder. Apparently, per the movie and the instructor, the correct move was to slow to a stop fully off the road and wait until it was safe to pull back in to the road.  My reaction was to downshift, correcting my steering back on the road and probably spitting gravel as my rear right tire gained traction.  I remember that instructor looking at me shocked.  Most of my classmates would in real life pop the clutch and stall.  She hadn’t run into one of us that could drive standard.  Taught both of my kids to drive standard but only succeeded after they were grown adults. Funny how that when they had their own cars and wouldn’t be driving mine, I finally got them trained.

I’m not a car guy at all. I drive Hyundai Sonata hybrid that tops out at 40 mpg. I care about gas mileage and dependability. As long as I fit well in the car (I’m 6-3) and there are a few perks with the electrical (blue tooth and a touch screen) I’m good.

With how much I drive, I’m pretty much going to put 200,000 miles on my car in about 6 years. They’re disposable to me. Beat the hell out of them and move on.

I'm the same. I like the little bit of tech. As far as driving I am the opposite. I live 15 minutes from work. I fill my car up every 3 weeks or so. We use the van for trips because its more comfortable.

I drive my daily driver for 10 years or so before replacing it. I always think about buying a pleasure car, do research and everything, then change my mind because I know it will be cool for like 6 months and then be no big deal to me.

Edit. The Dodge is a 2012 and has like 60,000 miles lol.

Yeah, you almost have to have a second car if you own an electric. And the second car probably can’t be a weekend fun car, either.

I used to love mustangs when I was a kid. I put a Vortech on a 99. Twin turbo kit with lots of other stuff on a 2003 convertible.

Fun but I outgrew it. Cars are just a tool for me now. I might buy an inexpensive classic type car someday and just leave it as is and keep it clean.

Same. By the time that Hot Wheels arrived, I was done with the little cars.  You are younger than me IIRC.

I am not a car aficionado at all, nor am I an expert, but I honestly think I will be driving some iteration of my model S or maybe an X for life.  Elon has me sold.  I admit I have not driven the competition though.

Micro machines were the best little cars😊

I would echo what Vikas said: the next time you’re car shopping, try out the Taycan and see if it’s worth paying the premium. Porsche simply makes the best all around cars I have ever driven. I think that you will find the interior finishing and the engineering to be in a different category.

I drive a Ford Escape. Gets me from A to B

Damn you are young, maybe around my kids ages.  Those micro machines were as evil as stray Legos to barefoot parents in the middle of the night.

10,109 new COVID cases in FL, and a 11 year old death. Schools on track to open in about 5 weeks.

Still no mask mandates unless at a city/county level. Still no restrictions. I have no idea why the NBA is coming to play here.

my cars helped keep me from going down the road to nowhere fast and to this day i still enjoy my car hobby. i own a 70 duster 340 , 71 charger 500 , 67 coronet 440 and a 66 charger. as you see i'm a mopar guy , even my work van is a 2500 dodge and my 4x4 is a 1500 dodge. i do have a s10 grocery getter LOL

parking here is like 10 bucks. Trust me there’s not enough people going for them to charge more and plenty of people charge 5 or 10 bucks. Food really isn’t that expensive here. They actually have family prices at the stadium. Like have a deal 5 bucks for hotdog and soda so 4 get for 20. Likely looking closer at 150-160.

also dbacks have 16 dollar tickets. And certain games it’s even less. Heck I’ve gone to a dbacks game for 5 bucks Cause people just try to get rid of tickets they can’t sell and actually paid more to go to an asu/Arizona baseball game at 12

at petco there’s really not a lot of parking. Most take the light rail into downtown which when i went was 5 bucks and kids under 10 were free. More expensive likely closer to 200. Which is still massively cheaper than nfl
