Can you recommend a book on Native American inter-tribal conflicts?

Not really. There aren’t a lot f books on the subject.  I have read a lot of scholarly papers.  As you can imagine, there weren’t a lot of records so a lot of papers rely on contemporary interactions by Europeans with the tribes and how they saw the tribes interact.

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Now that he doesnt get cameras shoved in his face since hes not playing sports anymore we just need a firework to JPP him so he cant tweet his incendiary BS anymore.

Also, anyone that doesnt think he meant to offend the country, its flag, and our military is a moron. He did, and it wasnt unintentional.

All this will do is alienate people who might otherwise be sympathetic.

thats all hes ever done from day 1 of kneeling. His goal was never for anything good. Hes always been about division. When Trump referred to people trying to  "end america" or something along those lines last night in his speech which honestly sounded kinda radical, Kaepernick justifies that remark.

So cars?

That's a bit mythological. I mean, who were they going to register land with? Hunter/Gatherers had territories, much like wolf packs, farmers tended to own land (even if they rotated cropland, it would be in the same area)

But I'm sure each tribe knew where they lived, and resented other tribes encroaching on their "land," killing their game, trampling their corn fields, etc.

And the fact they constantly fought over land tells you they weren't much different than Europeans.

Interesting factoid, the Lewis & Clark found the best hunting in a region between two tribes that were in conflict, the "no mans" land between them had far more game because both tribes were wary of hunting where they were vulnerable to attack.

Point is, the European invasion was not that different than all those movements of peoples that overrode the existing inhabitants, from the Eurasian tribes that displaced the original peoples of Europe in the Neolithic, the second wave of North Asians who replaced the first "American Indians," to the Danes moving into England, the Mongols, etc. If the number of Conquerers was small relative to the native population, they'd take the elite positions in society, Mongols in China and India, Normans in England, if they had large numbers, they often slaughtered most of the inhabitants (take their women) and replaced them.

Yup history as far back as Cain and able is full of humans killing humans over resources.

It’s ironic that someone who grew up in a white family and has become a rich living martyr making millions, celebrated, adored, SI man of the year knows so much about being dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized, and terrorized.

Maybe the best thing he can tweet is "I understand that I can’t understand” like all the other white people out there...

"The movement" sounds like some sci fi movie about secret aliens and spys

Or an 80s workout video by susan summers!

Yikes. A bunch of bad takes in here. Time to log out...

This is his gimmick and profession now. It's why he doesn't want to play football again, he only wants to give off the perception that he does. It's far more profitable and advantageous for him to ride this out for the rest of his life then to come back and play. They'll make movies off of him (which they are already doing), write books, he'll have his public appearances, his Nike deal, etc. He's not willing to sacrifice that.

On an Eagles football related note:

HE and I had a convo a couple weeks back during all the protest asking where was kaepernick during them cause we had not seen him whatsoever. We saw all athletes out there with protestors during a pandemic and being out there for everyone to see. He was nowhere to be found during one of the most critical times except for making a statement saying he’d pay for those who got arrested legal charges. To me that speaks volumes. I actually respect Malcolm Jenkins for saying what he does (not saying agree with everything he’s said) and then going out And being in the forefront in the public eye and not just throwing money at the cause.

Most attention ****s are easily triggered.

I thought we were moving on from these topics? I’m trying not to engage.

Guys like Kaepernick and LeBron are social media activists. They'll put up some "inspiring" post on Instagram or Twitter, but in the end it's just to boost their Q scores or popularity. I give Kaep credit because he actually runs the Know Your Rights camp/foundation that does a lot of good and educates kids. LeBron funds his school as well, so they're doing their part in a way and I'm not saying that they don't do anything. But guys like Jenkins walk the walk and talk the talk. They're having important conversations with decision makers in power and trying to make things better. They're on the front lines walking with ordinary citizens showing solidarity. Jaylon Brown did this too. If you want to be about it, you have to put yourself out there. LeBron wouldn't be caught dead walking the streets of LA in public protesting. He'd rather hide out in his mansion and throw money at causes.
