What is with the signs parents are putting in their yard now about their kids graduating a grade.  Is that a thing up there?   I mean, I get celebrating a kid graduating HS or College. But damn.  I’m seeing them for 5th grade, pre school, kindergarten.  When did that become a thing?

If they change a building now, parents think it's some major right of passage.    My wife works in the local elementary school and the 5th grade parents were up in arms that their children weren't going to get the annual "Clap Out"  (where they parade through the school for the final time, as they are applauded by the rest of the school).   My heart broke for the Seniors this past spring.  They missed the Class Night, Prom, Commencement, Graduation Parties, and many of them missed their last chance to act in the play, play in the orchestra for the play, play on a lacrosse field, run on the track, step into the batter box on the home field (all wearing their school's uniform) as a senior... And now, most of them are confused about how their college life will begin as they move into that next phase, or the seniors who were going into the work force, but now have limited opportunities to do that as unemployment is up.    But, I didn't shed a single tear for the 5th graders moving to the middle school, or my own son who is leaving the middle school and moving to the high school in the Fall (in whatever form it takes on).

This all started about 3 or 4 years ago for our schools.  It started with our seniors going back to their elementary school in their cap and gowns on the last day for them, the morning of the commencement ceremony, and it was designed to let the elementary teachers see those students again, and to give the younger students something to aspire to.  I saw it as a bit hokey, but I was fine with it.  The elementary schools are basically marking time by that point in the year, and it cleared out the seniors faster, so that the underclassmen could get back to focusing on their final exams.   But, now they do it for every grade that's moving to a new building.  It's a bit much.  Fortunately, it doesn't really affect me at the high school.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Nothing earth shattering, but Kempski thinks Parks would be the backup FS.

They will have extremely limited opportunities, probably even fewer at any given position than they'd have while cross training in a normal year.   Hopefully just having one thing to think about though will help them.

Parks at FS makes sense to me, as he's the fastest of the safeties we have, I think.

He ran a 4.63 at Arizona’s pro day. Wallace is our fastest safety among guys who count.

I like this.  Let them become confident and proficient at one position then expand from there.  There are exceptions, but I'd prefer they do this with 99% of rookies.

Guys like Kaepernick and LeBron are social media activists. They'll put up some "inspiring" post on Instagram or Twitter, but in the end it's just to boost their Q scores or popularity. I give Kaep credit because he actually runs the Know Your Rights camp/foundation that does a lot of good and educates kids. LeBron funds his school as well, so they're doing their part in a way and I'm not saying that they don't do anything. But guys like Jenkins walk the walk and talk the talk. They're having important conversations with decision makers in power and trying to make things better. They're on the front lines walking with ordinary citizens showing solidarity. Jaylon Brown did this too. If you want to be about it, you have to put yourself out there. LeBron wouldn't be caught dead walking the streets of LA in public protesting. He'd rather hide out in his mansion and throw money at causes.

Remember John Lennon?

Rich, famous celebrities have to be careful about being in public, too many crazy Americans with guns, too many people who think they have a right to what's in your pockets (Barkley has stories about that), too many people who'll intrude on your space. So expecting Jordan or James to march is probably unfair, imagine what would happen, the march would no longer be about an issue but people going crazy about a celebrity in their midst.

I like the effort Rasul puts in. Problem is an oil can doesn’t make smooth hip flips. Not sure that can be learned.  I tried as a kid but my hips just don’t swivel.

I thought Rasul was destined for safety the moment he was drafted, but obviously he lacks the mental component - he has size, ballhawk skills, decent straight line speed - on paper what you want in a safety.

As a CB, he leaves a lot to be desired.

I saw this on Twitter.  Someone mentioned something about growing zucchini.  The caption read, "its zucchini season”.

You were just in here crying about censorship on a message board that has a forum just for people to cry about politics.  Talk about childish.

Yeah.  I’ve haven’t been in here for a month.  Hoping you people would stop.  And I’m not the only one.

And how do you even know who I am?  Because I don’t remember your name on the old board.  So who were you?

I wasn't crying. I started fact based rationale to allow the discussion to continue.  You've been whining on here for weeks. Not me or anyone else really.

It's primarily the seeds and skin that make it bitter.  Those zucchini are salvageable, but it requires basically peeling and coring them.   Grating them up and making zucchini cakes (kind of like potato cakes), put into zucchini bread (and if grated, peeling isn't really necessary, just coring out the seeds).   Rather than grating, they can be peeled and cubed and put into pies (yes, just like apples.... just replace the apples in any apple pie recipe and you'll be shocked by the results), crumble, or cobbler.

The ones that aren't huge, can be cored and used as cooking vessels... baking nearly anything in the 'zucchini boat'.  I am partial to crumbled Italian sausage, diced tomatoes, sauteed onions, roasted peppers, fresh basil and some parm cheese on top.  Just mound that up to slightly above the level of the zucchini and bake until the zucchini softens and the cheese melts and turns golden brown - 350 for about 20 minutes, give or take.   But, you can do a Mexican version with beef and beans (with cheese, of course).  You can do an Asian inspired filling similar to what you might see in lettuce wraps (this is a great substitute in Summer, as lettuce doesn't fare well in heat, but zucchini does).

They can also be pickled... and the pickling process removes a lot of the bitterness.  I don't recommend that for the larger ones though, as the seeds are still an issue.

Come on fellas, there's enough divisiveness out there in the real world right now, no need to start feuds in here.

2 attention ****s in a room do not solve a problem.

I really don't have an issue with it. We're currently in one of, if not, the weirdest times we've all experienced and there are no sports going on to keep us distracted. For the most part, it's been civil in here and I find it stimulating and engaging in reading what others have to say regardless of if they agree with my opinons or not.

Great.

It can get off the rails pretty quickly here with that stuff is all.

This kind of talk is what made many others leave the old site.

Are we really trying to get people to leave?

It's been a bit ridiculous in here lately and goes back to a political pissing contest.

Go to CVON if want to go down that rabbit hole. It's what it is there for.

Just think of how much you would be adding to that thread while also allowing those of us tired of the constant intake of political BS going on around the world a place to stay away from it too.

Shall we get into religious talks next since there's nothing going on?

I'm sure that wouldn't piss about everyone off whether they agree or disagree, right?

I appreciate the IT work from him but the money came from a number of us.  I made a sizable donation. The Kaep talk happens every time he opens his mouth.  I left that alone like you did because we have said what we will on that subject ages ago. It will die down.   Long time Bloggers aren’t going to whatever CVON is.

Like it or not, some of the other stuff is going to bleed in this year.  The rally in Tulsa, the Mt. Rushmore rally, the Republican conventions, church services and the protests are litmus tests on whether COVID-19 allows fans in the stands and frankly what works.  Right now, masks and a bit of distancing outdoors seems to work some better.  I’d feel better in a 50% capacity link with masks than in a stuffed Jerry World without.  Just having been in northeast Texas, I was appalled at the lack of mask use so I suspect Jerry World won’t be much better.

Bro, rules of the old blog WERE always no politics or religion.

I really don't care how much you donated, many of donated too.

Doesn't mean you run the board now because if it and installing new rules only you have to play by, even though you're breaking the old rules of the blog too, by touting whatever weird God complex you have about making a sizable donation here.

You want politics or religion, go to another thread. That has ALWAYS been the unwritten rule if the blog.

Just wow.

"Long time bloggers aren't going to CVON" even though many have before.

I think some of you are a bit to high and mighty about "owning" this board and doing what you want to, and within, the community based on how much you donated?

GTFOH

If we will be censored here by a guy running this place,  then this will be no better than reddit.

He only came and said what he said because some Karen's were complaining.  Those Karen's can F off.

WTF is wrong with all of you.

Politics and religion were always walking a fine line and typically instantly shut down by ourselves before it got out of hand.

Just wow.

This board will shrink and due just like what happened last time politics and religion got off the rails.

Well it was a good run and was starting to enjoy some football talk again

Apparently I didn't donate enough money  so will bow out until some kind of football is around to talk about.

Enjoy your political board.

All right.  Everybody chill out.   When Kelby becomes his avatar, let's all just take a breath.
