Bro, rules of the old blog WERE always no politics or religion.

I really don't care how much you donated, many of donated too.

Doesn't mean you run the board now because if it and installing new rules only you have to play by, even though you're breaking the old rules of the blog too, by touting whatever weird God complex you have about making a sizable donation here.

You want politics or religion, go to another thread. That has ALWAYS been the unwritten rule if the blog.

Just wow.

"Long time bloggers aren't going to CVON" even though many have before.

I think some of you are a bit to high and mighty about "owning" this board and doing what you want to, and within, the community based on how much you donated?

GTFOH

We all own this board.   That was my point as to what was said.  Not VA, all of us.  Anybody in the Blog has gone off topic.  It is going to happen.  It always has.  We slowed down most of the political talk.  Some is going to seep in occasionally.  Heck, at one point the Blog was moved to WU.

Doc thinks the secondary is going to be the new strength of the D.  How about discussing that instead of trying to censor others?

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I think Parks as the backup FS would just be a way to get our best two safeties on the field of in case McLeod is hurt, and then Wallace would be the Swiss Army knife third safety. I think there’s a decent chance Parks beats out Mills for the starting SS job since he’s played a Jenkins-type role in Denver already. Mills is basically a theoretical safety based on college games and limited snaps vs NE.

Epps just isn’t good enough to warrant snaps, and his brain farts were really bad last year. Luckily Sweat bailed him out on one.

That is kind of my take. He did play snaps at both S positions at Denver. Seems to have the instincts to make up for the speed. My thought is McLeod and whoever starts at SS will primarily play those positions.  They will flip on some snaps.   I think Schwartz may want to go back to interchangeable Ss and really interchangeable Ss/nickel corner/third S/dime back.  I think that allows for more Cover 1.

Hahahaha.

This whole "you're censoring" stuff is such a load of 🐃💩.

Rule of the blog has always been to tread lightly on politics and religion. Sure, I know it's weird trying times right now, but there have been rules for a reason. (Not to lose members)

It's, admitted by most, to have gone off the rails recently and yet people are now claiming they are being censored for being asked to go to an area dedicated to that topic....just like has always been done in the past. 🤣

My avatar has never made more sense than now.

I've tried talking football and bring up topics but typically gets drowned out by the 40 political posts before and after.

And you say "we" own the board but bring up "your" sizable donation.

Can't have it both ways my friend and clearly you think you are now making the rules due to that donation and putting those doing the actual work to run this board as your "employees" since your "sizable donation".

Maybe just adhere to the old rules we all agreed to then and when we came over to start the new board?

Too much to ask I guess.

I'm out.

You all enjoy your board.

I will say the secondary will be interesting but depends on if Schwartz gets more creative than he has been known to be in the past.

Slay should allow that, but is Schwartz going to actually play something other than his traditional schemes?

Love the versatility we have in the secondary.

Really excited for development of Wallace there.

Do you think if Kempski is correct that Parks gets a chance at SS?  That would mean training for two positions. Frankly, in an ideal setting, Wallace would win the SS position and the next best two would be the back ups.  My guess though is Wallace starts out as the third S.  Point to consider is Epps was strong as a ST player and Mills has been here and Parks at Denver. That will be a factor.  When James got hurt, it hurt the STs coverage initially. I doubt James makes the team this year.  Lots of unknowns in the secondary.  I believe Manual favored a lot of zone in Atlanta as DC. That concerns me a bit.

You are new to the blog and want to ban some long time posters in here. Talk about censorship.  If you don’t like what is being talked about go explore some of the TATE posts.   Like it or not Kaep is going to be talked about.

First of all, I have been posting since 2005, and second, gatekeeping much. The admin has made it clear to take this crap to CVON. Follow suit.

Would be message board dictators...

I think Parks and Mills battle it out at strong safety. The loser is the third safety and top backup at both spots. Wallace, I don’t know what they’ll do. He’s better close to the LOS than as a deep safety, but maybe they put him at FS at first due to numbers.

Maybe Wallace develops quickly and they end up moving Mills back to corner at some point due to injuries/ineffectiveness by Maddox and the rest of the slop at second corner.

I think it's less about politics and religion than how you talk about it, fact based or opinion based.

BigEFly, Justrelax and myself have gone back and forth on politics and history for a decade? longer? but it's as much about facts and sources than anything else - did you read such and such? We disagree amicably, as long as in the end they accept that "I never lie and I'm always right."

Two things cause such conversations to quickly degenerate:

1) treating opinions as facts without reference to facts and sources - "left wing radicals are . . ." or "Trump is a fascist" without specifying what qualifies one as a "radical" or "fascist", how many are there, what exactly did they do, etc. Focusing on some outrageous self-appointed spokesperson as a strawman is a good example. If you stick with facts and reliable sources (no, Inforwars and Breitbart don't count) that usually keeps things under control. And cable news is not news, it's entertainment. Opinion v Opinion soon degenerates into a shouting match.

2) lack of sense of humor and perspective, religion is touchy b/c many religious people think they know the Truth, thus, any suggestion that they may be mistaken is apostasy. Tolerance  requires more than "we'll let the heretic live" which is what tolerance meant traditionally, in a post-Enlightenment world it means accepting that people think differently about religion and the world, and within certain boundaries (those of fact, reason and decency, cults that advocate rape or child sacrifice fall outside those bounds) that different thinking is legitimate.

When a man of cloth and a man of science

Meets a man who stands--in full defiance

The chain of command--the wheel of opinion

Will come full circle--in the Wind's Dominion

Right now there isn't much Eagle news, so we're all at home (hopefully, unless you have to interact with the unwashed, unmasked masses) and running out of shows to binge watch.

So the problem isn't that the discussion meanders, but civility needs to be maintained.

WTF is wrong with all of you.

Politics and religion were always walking a fine line and typically instantly shut down by ourselves before it got out of hand.

Just wow.

This board will shrink and due just like what happened last time politics and religion got off the rails.

Well it was a good run and was starting to enjoy some football talk again

Apparently I didn't donate enough money  so will bow out until some kind of football is around to talk about.

Enjoy your political board.

you need to relax. the worst posts in this thread have been ones like this, and 4for4fans. Not the political ones.

Really hope there’s a season this year or these boards will fall apart with the banter and I will have to resort to Reddit next season.

Do you really trust any corner in cover 1 other than Slay?

Just to add on to my last recent thoughts, if the Secondary does becomes the strength I hope it does,  some thoughts on the trickle down.

It will be felt all across the Defense. Closing down some of the passing opportunities, especially in the early phase of the routes, will allow a better chance for the D line to get home, maybe changing a lot of those "Hurries" into sacks, or at the very least, cause the QB to break the pocket. It will also open up the blitzing option more, something Gym Shorts doesn't seem to do much but can you blame him? You need to be able to count on singled up coverage to take the LB, Safety, whomever, out of the coverage package and send him. A more effective secondary allows that.

Now a lot times, obviously, you want to keep the QBs in the pocket (Wilson, Jackson, Mahomes, etc.) but I'd LOVE to get Goff and such moving off their spot. Those type of guys suffer greatly if the first early read isn't there or their primary is a longer developing route and they have to pull their eyes down. Even a guy like Brees can be somewhat neutralized if you take away the quick hitter and force the shrimp to stay in the pocket and try to see over the oncoming rush... :P

Yeah, good things happen all across the D if the Secondary can be counted on. Schwartz can be more creative, the D becomes more disruptive, the opponent's offense will need to be adjusted, teams will have to rely more on their run game, something we defend well...and on and on.

I understand resource allocation. We finally seem to have made the Secondary a priority. Hope it works out. Also hope Linebackers are next.

The biggest improvement in the secondary would be to get Malik Jackson back at 100%.

When you can rotate Cox, Jackson and Hargrave, QBs are not going to be able to sit in the pocket and pick apart our secondary.

So you don't have to ask Sidney Jones to cover for 4-5 seconds, 2-3 seconds will suffice, after which QBs will be moving out of the pocket and struggling to look downfield.

Yep.  And when they move out (or attempt to move out) of the pocket that quickly, it should make things a lot fun for our DE’s.  Having 1 All-Pro and 2 other top-notch DT’s rotating alongside him should make the entire defense that much better.

Hot take: Arguing what can or can’t be posted is more annoying than arguing about politics.

Hotter take: Mills will be the starting corner opposite Slay before the end of the season, if not Week 1.

Go ahead. Top rated topic right now is Washington changing its name. Guess what that’s going to be full of? Politics.

another high rated topic, Carson Wentz take on Independence Day. Guess what that’s going to be full of? Politics.

Theres also great takes like "no **** but Dawkins can use me as a fleshlight.” Yea, soooo much better than here

Thinking season wont happen  , but hoping it does...as a bucs fan , I think if they stay healthy  , they will make some noise.

I really hope next season will be Mills' last as an Eagle.  Of course, I've been hoping that for awhile now.

Why?

I don’t get the Mills hate. He’s been a productive member of the team as a 7th round pick. He’s exactly the type of guy we need on defense. He’s a tough guy and loves playing for us. I wish he got more love.

I think Jones can cover in Cover 1.  I don't trust him to tackle.

They actually have a no politics/religion rule lol.

Things really only get shut down when it gets out of hand...Sort of how we’ve been doing it.

I think that's why they brought him back, IMO.  He's not just a safety, he's a CB in a pinch easily as well.   Schwartz seems to want all CBs able to do everything.  Well, Mills can focus on S, and then move back to CB is necessity arrives.

This.  The return on investment from Mills has been as good as it gets.  As usual, a lot of fans tend to remember the handful of times he was beat (some not even his fault) vs the dozens of exceptional plays he’s made, especially in the red zone.
