My wife uses the paddle attachment on the stand mixer.  I'm thinking that we might be over-pulverizing it though.  I'll have to look into the Bear claws.

I did a pork shoulder in the Instant Pot before the grill.  Turned out great, as it goes.   To 'crisp' it a bit, it gets broiled after it's pulled.

I've got a picnic shoulder in the freezer right now.  Those things are a great price a lot of the time, better than the Boston Butt.   I'm looking forward to putting that on the smoker soon.   Haven't decided if it's to be sliders or carnitas.  Might go carnitas as we are big into Mexican, and we have some cilantro, peppers and hopefully tomatoes coming on soon.

I have fajitas up next or I would have bitten on the carnitas idea. Love carnitas.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Pros and Cons of long term contracts?

Eagles allowing Season ticket holders to opt out this year and get full refund.  Just got my email from the team.  Able to come back in 2021.  Expecting "substantially” less seats available for this season due to COVID and reductions that will need to be put in place.

Hope you got your money back.

Depends on the player. A 10-year deal for a franchise QB is excellent (from the team's perspective). Means you don't have to re-up at a higher price in 5 years. Though one could argue in this case they already re-upped at that 2025 salary right away with this deal. A player like Mahomes would want year-to-year control bascially. A chance to re-up very often.

A lesser player, a shorter term deal is usually better (team perspective). Less guarantee.

For which side?

Player - security for the long term, but perhaps limiting upside earnings.

Team - security of having a player locked up, but chance the player's skills erode before the contract ends.

Nope. I will no longer be silent about discriminatory comments.

You’re a tool.

BigE is one of the classiest and one of most informative posters going way back to the original blog...we maintained a pretty high standard of discourse way before you polluted this site. BigE has a heavy dose of EQ, so he won't make too big of a fuss. This is no longer a place for discriminatory and abusive language in here. As much as you whine and name call, I do not think it too much to ask to step outside of your comfort zone and pretend to have some emotional intelligence when communicating with people in here.

The guy made a harmless remark towards me.  Get over yourselves.

Referring to the term gay is no longer harmless, and is not appropriate in any public conversation.

Perfect beach weather, if we were allowed to be on it....so much silliness. I live on secluded beach area where you can walk for miles and see a handful of people on a normal day.

I have been following your comments about national parks as I was in Grand Teton and Yellowstone parks last week. Saw the crazy guard rail hoppers and buffalo harassers...I did a nice loop through Nevada into Idaho ( saw Evil Kneivel's launch ramp in Twin Falls) then Jackson Hole, Montana, Coeur d'elane, then down through Washington and Bend Oregon....beautiful country....

It's the internet. Have some thick skin and don't report every little comment.

Call out the comment, fine. Save the reports to mods for truly egregious stuff.

Wrong.

But we have less mods on the new boards and it's the internet. Dealing with it among yourselves is a good start, not everything needs a report to the mods.

Awesome looking.  l love ribs.

Tonight I am prepping a pork shoulder. Tomorrow I plan this guy’s method

https://www.thecreativeengineer.com/instant-pot-smoked-pulled-pork/

Four to six hours on either the wood smoker, if Home Depot has the woods I want, or on the grill if not as I have the mix of wood chunks I want.  Then into the instant pot as recommended. Then Bear Claws and pulled in about 1/2 the time.  I plan to let the meat sit a bit before I cut down, although I may not have to cut it down much as I have a smaller shoulder and will lose about 15-25% when I trim it. Pulled pork sliders   While I have the Instant Pot out, I will carmelize some onions to go with it.

BTW, anybody that does any pulled meats should own a pair of Bear Claws. For decades I used two salad forks and then saw a guy using Bear Claws.  On a good sized piece of meat, pulling could take quite a while. Bear Claws, we are talking minutes.

I smoke shoulder at about 225 straight through. Wrap at 160ish with a can of dr pepper poured in the wrap. Cook till 203ish

I use my kitchen aid with a dough hook on the lowest speed to pull it. Cut a chunk off and throw it in. Fast and easy.

My wife, an island girl is going through beach withdrawal

So jealous.  Really want to hit the road but apprehensive to do so. Love the Snake River canyon area and Craters of the Moon is a favorite in Idaho.  Love the lava flows at Bend.   My wife has been out west to CA, OR and WA and seen most everything east of the Mississippi but hasn’t been further than the Black Hills, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.  We plan on renting an RV and a couple of trips to the middle states north and into Canada, then down into Idaho and Nevada   Then a second trip to Colorado, lower Nevada  and then AZ and New Mexico.  I figure Montana and Wyoming and up into Banff will let me know if I can drive the Million Dollar Highway in a rented RV. Were you camping?

I took a lady friend and my dog so we stuck to the cheaper motels. I am going back to Jackson Hole next year to spend more time in Grand Teton...There is a lot of flat paved bike paths and some campsite are walk/bike in only...there is an incredible 50 mile loop...I wish I knew about the biking possibilities in Grand Teton...I would have left the lady at home...

My wife bought me these last year.   I like to keep some of the chunks in it and not shredded completely.  Doesn’t dry out as quick.

Butcher paper is always best.

I use foil for pulled pork. Keeps the liquid i add in. Paper for brisket

I use foil. 4 pieces of wide heavy duty laid out in a star. Wrap and leave a hole in the top. Mix a can of dr pepper with a splash of cider vinegar and worcheshire.

Pour in and seal the top.

By the time you hit 160 to 165 you are not gonna get much more smoke flavor anyway

That's what I am learning.
